Is there any way to get car insurance and tags on a car if you don’t have the title and it’s not in your name?

So my grandparents both passed down a vehicle to me, but they both passed away before writing a will and without putting it in my name, the job that I currently just got requires proof of insurance. I don’t have insurance and my tags are dead. I also don’t know if we have the title to it or not. My grandparents always said that if anything happened to them that the truck would be mine, so what can I do to get it in my name and tags and insurance.looking for a quick way because my job needs proof of insurance

How much does it cost to transfer car tags in Tennessee?

The actual transfer fee is only a few bucks. Transferring the current license plate is $15, or a new one is $25. If you want a personalized plate, it is more. The actual transferring of the vehicle should be in the $25 to $50 range. Registering it is another issue. That depends on local/county fees, but most are able to register their vehicle in TN for between $30 and $75. The real expense is sales tax, and that shouldn't be an issue for you.

Can I transfer my license plate to a new car?

In most states, yes.  If you were the registered owner of the old car, and your are the registered owner of the new car, you can usually just transfer your plates (vanity or otherwise).  If either car is leased, you might not have this choice (since you don't technically own the car).  There are a number of exceptions though, so it's best to check with your state's DMV website.  For example, if you have an outdated license plate series, some states will want your to trade them in.  If you go from one state to another, you can't retain your plates.

Can I transfer license plates from one person to another if they stay on the same car?

I purchased a used car from a private party. They left the license plates on the car and the car registration is good through 2007. Instead of getting new plates can I transfer the plates into my name? I live in Wisconsin.

How long does it take to transfer a license plate from your old (trade-in) car to your "new" car?

If you go directly to the DMV in SC... I am having so much anxiety over this. I'm afraid that my temporary tag will expire, because it might take a long time to transfer the registration from one car to another and I can't find any information online because no one answers my questions, and I won't be able to drive the car until they send the tag in the mail, and then I will finally be able to affix the license plate to my car.

I am selling a used car, but have already transferred my plates, insurance, and registration to my new car. How can I let prospective buyers test drive it?

Hmmm..... What's the make and model of the car? If it's an inexpensive vehicle, you could knock several hundred off of the price and tell any of the interested buyers that the car is not licensed to drive, but will start (It will..right?) and it's a "daily driver. Depending upon the make and model, that's going to scare off a few prospective buyers; but it is easier than getting a temporary tag or have to re-register the vehicle simply so that you can sell it.  If that doesn't get you too many "nibbles" or the vehicle is more expensive, then you might want to call your local DMV/BMV and see what you need to do to obtain a temp tag(s) for the car. Explain that you are just trying to sell it and that when it's sold, you'll surrender the tag(s). This may not cost that much although it will necessitate a trip to the DMV/BMV office and some paperwork.

Can the E-ZPass transponder be used for multiple cars?

You're not supposed to because in case it the EZ-pass or the reader fails, the plate will  not be found as having an EZ-pass account associated with it and the plate you are driving with will be charged with a toll violation. However, in practical use, you can move an EZ-pass between cars with no issue. However, if you regularly use EZ pass with multiple cars, I suggest having multiple EZ passes, one for each car. You can manage them all within one account and within a single pool of funds.

How can I safely remove my license plate year sticker to transfer it to my new plates?

well you cant there it is illegal you need to buy another sticker but if you said you just got personalized plates then you should have got a new sticker with it sound to Me like you are trying to avoid paying for a sticker in the first place ... when the police if they do ever run your plates they will know automatically if you registration is up to date... not a good idea...

How much does a new car tag usually cost? (approximately)?

depends on how much your state tax is...example..if your state has 6% tax, and you paid 2000 bucks for it, it would cost you 120 bucks for tax, plus title...15, plus 2 yr registration...60 or so bucks.
Plan on at least 80 bucks jsut to registering it, then taxes...good luck !
