What's Wrong With The Heisman Trophy .....?
The award is too biased towards QBs and RBs. It says a lot that you can nearly count all the other winners on the fingers of one hand outside those positions. It's somewhat understandable because those are the highest-profile positions but you'd think sportswriters wouldn't be quite so biased. And just because the team is good doesn't mean they have the best player. I was shocked RG3 won it just because Baylor lost something like 3-4 games last year. One thing I don't like is many votes are cast before the season even ends. What's the point of that? At least wait until all the games are done before looking at the players. With so many out there one game could be a difference if 2 players are very close (though no one should ever win the award based off one game either). I'm not one to get upset over it like a lot of other people. It doesn't really bother me many of them don't do well in the NFL. It's a college award and some types of players don't translate well in the NFL despite being great college players (such as option QBs historically). But it could be done better.
