Can You Become A Local Government Statistician With A Government/history Degree

Is AP Government/AP Economics hard?

Did you only take AP US History last year? If you only took US and still got a 2 on the exam, I CERTAINLY wouldn't recommend taking 6 AP classes. I'd recommend taking two or three and trying to actually pass those.

Conversely, if you took other AP tests last year and passed them, go right ahead and take as many AP classes as you'd like.

AP class workloads vary significantly by school but with those particular classes, expect to be spending a good portion of your free time doing homework.

As far as AP Government goes, it's a relatively easy class. AP Economics is also fairly simple. I took both macro and micro economics the same year and got 5s on both with very little prep work.

Good luck.

How to find crime statistics and house history as in any deaths or murder on a particular house?

Using crimereports.com, you can look at the crime reports filed in your neighborhood within a certain time period. It provides specifics, not statistics and requires that your local police dept. be an actively reporting member. Also, depending on how far the records for your neighborhood go back, you could use this to identify murders, robberies and any other crimes at a specific address.

For crime statistics about your city, you can check city-data.com; however, the results are not divided up into neighborhoods.

Also, if you're concerned that a house you're interested in buying may have had a violent crime committed within it, please know that the law in CA requires deaths of a "material" nature be disclosed if they occurred in the last 3 years. "Material" basically means non-natural, such as a murder, suicide, drowning, etc. To avoid any questions about what is material, most listing agents will disclose a death at the property regardless of the circumstances.

Do you need a maths A level to become a stock broker?

NO, you do not need good math skills to be a stock broker, in fact you don't need too much any skills to be a broker

Firms usually want college graduates, but it is not really necessary nor really a requirement but many firms like it and make it their requirement. Bank broker/dealers usually want all the sales reps to be college graduates.

Your college major is not important, (No courses in the Academic world prepares you to be a broker). But since your coming into the world of Finance, some of the more helpful majors would be Finance, Accounting, Economics or Statistics,

You should be good at math and have a decent idea about the stock market.
You should be good at selling, and it would help if you have an outgoing personality. So if you‘re good at sales, or have a good sales background in place of a college degree, you’re part way there.

Try to get with any major brokerage firm they will put you through an in-house training program, which is primarily getting you ready to take the necessary test for licenses. You will need a Series 7 which is a General Securities Brokers test, and a Series 63 which is just for state approvals.

I have spent many years in brokerage management, I have come to realize that brokers are the dumbest things walking upright, thank God fro sale assistants they make everything work

Good luck, go try it, you may like it

Is a political science degree utterly useless?

No, not at all. It is true that a degree in pol.sci. is a “generalist degree” and doesn’t qualify you for any specific job, however there are numerous jobs for which such a degree might be considered desirable. By having a degree in politics, you can demonstrate that you possess the research and argumentation skills that are necessary to obtain any academic qualification, as well as a general awareness of the systems that govern society. There are many jobs in which expertise in politics are a desirable qualification. Rather than qualifying you to do just one thing, a degree in political science shows that you have the potential to be able to do many things.

History vs. Political Science major: What's the difference?

History is the most "concrete" of the social science majors. It is much more about learning details of historical events and the connections between them than it is about theory.

Political science is about learning theory and applying the theory to political situations. It is much more abstract than history.

If you prefer to major in political science, you should certainly do so. Both majors are good preparation for law school. If you go on for a masters degree in political science, you may be able to get onto a career path of working for a legislature, legislator, or legislative committee.

Difference between federal and central government?

Black's Law Dictionary 8th Edition:

federal adj. Of or relating to a system of associated governments with a vertical division of government into national and regional components having different responsibilities.

WHOA.... I just looked up "central government" and it redirected to "federal government." Apparently, according to my law dictionary, central and federal governments are the same thing.

central/federal government 1. A national government that exercises some degree of control over smaller political units that have surrendered some degree of power in exchange for the right to participate in national political matters. 2. The U.S. government.

I disagree with that last definition, but whatever.

*** To Suspect on Foot

I was just curious to see what my law dictionary had to say about the definitions. Personally, I am still under the impression that centralized and federal governments are not the same thing. One of the criticisms of the more recent editions of Black's law compared to earlier editions is that the definitions contained have become more and more in favor of government supremacy.

How can I prepare in high school if I want to major in political science?

I am assuming you are here in the States. Much of what I say here can apply anywhere but here in the US our schools have stopped teaching Civics as a course. You are going to need to study this thoroughly on your own, including a good familiarity with the foundation documents of this country, political systems, international relations, plus history, sociology, economics and English (with a focus on writing skills). Learn how the three Branches of government interact, both in theory and in reality. Learn what powers the Constitution grants to each branch. If you do this you will be ahead of 95–98% of the entering freshmen and be in a very good position for scholarships and grants.Good luck!
