Can You Buy A Phone From Amazon And Never Activate It

Buying a cell phone on amazon or ebay?

I've bought from both with no problem. Just be sure the specification of the phone is right for your country or region (e,g, that the language pack on it suits). Also check the seller's reputation and, if using eBay, pay with Paypal so that you'll have buyer protection

Can I do anything with a still active iPhone 5?

So my mom has a bit of a problem. She bought an iPhone 5s off of Craigalist today. Well she tries to activate it and it's still on the guy's account. So she didn't have his number because he was using the phone he sold her and Sprint couldnt so anything so she got a number out of the phone she bought and called someone who was apparently his sister. He finally called her back, freaking out, she tols him what was up and he said he wasn't gonna help her. Then he told her he called Sprint and it will be ddeactivated in a few days. Well it got turned off a few hours ago because of an unpaid bill. Sprint won't talk to her, I'm not sure if the police will do anything, he won't answer her anymore. Is there anything we can do? She spent $320 on this phone and it seems like it might end up being a paperweight. Would unlocking it do anything? Please help guys.

How can I activate a stolen gift card and redeem it?

If the gift card is truly not activated, like someone swiped it off the rack at the store and snuck it out without taking it through the cashier process… it's almost certainly just a dumb, worthless piece of plastic. The activation process conducted by the cashier is what creates the corresponding entries in the database at the payment processor, linking that card number with a stored value amount. Usually the gift card packaging is clearly labeled, “No value until activated by cashier,” so you don't waste your time and effort.I suppose you could take this “stolen” gift card and sneak it back into the store, and hand it to a cashier with some cash or your own credit card, to have it activated properly… but that hardly seems worth the risk over just grabbing a fresh one legitimately. Keeps a tiny bit of excess plastic and cardboard out of the landfill, I suppose.

Does getting a new debit card deactivate the old one?

The old card was immediately deactivated when it was compromised, probably before they sent the new card as they changed the account number. They never leave a compromised card active for ANY length of time. If necessary they Fedex a new card overnight if you are out of town with no way to pay the hotel bill etc. Didn't they ask if you had any valid charges in process? They did with me and transferred the ones I knew to my new card. I had to call all my automatic pays and change them.

The song purchase will bounce and you will hear from Amazon.

EDIT: You should never use a Debit card, tied to a bank account, for the internet. The personal liability for stolen cards is a lot higher than for credit cards.

I bought a phone off of FB marketplace. When I tried to activate it, the store clerk said it was blocked, which means the bill had not been fully paid or it was reported stolen and is now unusable. What can I do?

I would say that this is one of those time life just trips you while walking for no good reason. Most modern phones have an anti-theft feature that basically turns the phone into a brick when reported stolen or lost by its owner. The key to unlock is some sort of account or password the original owner set when activating the phone for the first time. Without it, the phone is basically a paperweight.I would not say this is a common issue with purchasing used phones over regulated online markets such as Amazon or eBay, where you’ll get a refund 99.999% of the time if you somehow do get caught in this situation. However, it’s a different story with Facebook marketplace. It has not been active very long, and it is more similar to Craiglist than Amazon in its design. If buying some candies at your local gas station is Amazon, then Facebook marketplace is like a drug deal in a dark alley of a sketchy neighborhood. What you could do now is contact Facebook. Document the current status of the phone, its physical conditions, its behavior, etc. Compile every piece of communications you have with the seller, if any. I’m not sure of Facebook policies regarding fraudulent transactions, so see what procedure and recourse Facebook recommends you take. During communications, it helps your case tremendously if you be very nice, respectful and patient. It might mean the customer representative handling your case might jump through an extra hoop to get you a refund instead of not. Lastly, you could contact your bank that you used to make the purchase, and explain your situation to them. Ask them if there are anything they could do for you, and/or things you should do. Again, it never hurts to be nice and courteous, even for just its own sake.Good luck!

Activate Gift Cards Through Self Check-Out?

No way you can never activate a gift card through self check out. It can only be activate at the register. I am sure they have some sort of code they need to put in there register to activate the card.
Some store even charge you some sort of fee as well to activate one time. Make sure you ask them first before you purchase.
Thanks
