Can You Enlist In The Army While Still In Usmc

I'm a senior in high school and want to enlist in the USMC or U.S. Army. Is there anything I should know?

I think it is great that you are thinking about serving your country. Before making any decision I will tell you exactly what I told my son last.Research all your optionsHave a career plan and let the Military help you achieve this plan. Pick an MOS that provides you with opportunities in the civilian worldConsider going to college first and then joining as an Officer:ROTC programs will help pay for collegeConsider applying to one of the Military AcademiesGet in shape before you head of to Basic Training, it will make it easierDuring Basic Training remember they Drill Instructors, regardless of the branch, are paid to yell and scream at you. Don’t take it personally, listen with your mouth shut and eyes open. What they are trying to teach you might just save your life one day but is more about getting you mentally prepared and physically able. Your AIT or A-School will be where you learn your job.Learn how to make a bedGo to the VFW and talk to retired members of the Armed Forces, get a feel for what to expect.Don’t expect it to be all sunshine and roses but don’t expect it to be fire and brimstone either. It is a job.Your best option is Navy!Your second best option is Navy!!Consider being a Fleet Marine Field Corpsmen but only if you have the mentality of going into places others are trying to leave. FMFCs are just slightly crazy…well maybe a little bit more than slightly. But someone has to keep Marines from spilling their blood everywhere. The craziest guys are the Coast Guard Rescue SwimmersYour third best option is, wait for it, here it comes….whichever one fits your personality and offers you the career opportunities you are looking forRemember that you are volunteering to Serve you Country but your job is to protect your brothers and sisters serving with you. Their lives maybe in your hands one day. If you are not willing to accept this responsibility and the sacrifice it may call for do not join. What people who have not served do not understand is this very concept…We are willing to fight for our country but we are willing to die for our brothers and sisters.

Is there any option to enlist in the military while in college and continue my education after basic training?

In the Marine Corps there is a 92 Day Reservist Program/IIADT (MARINE CORPS RESERVE INCREMENTAL INITIAL ACTIVE DUTY) that you may enlist. You do most of your training and Reserve Drilling during the summer. It is hard to join the programs and most Recruiters aren't too excited to sign people up into the program because it is requires alot of paperwork. However if you're serious about enlisting, I recommend you inquire with a recruiter concerning this option. Be very firm with your Recruiter about what you want and don't let them get you to settle for other options. If you can not enlist as a 92 Day Reservist, and are still set on joining the military, you may consider the Regular Reserve option. However you may have to postpone a Semester of School as Reservist can be activated for over 6 months on their initial training. Some very specialized MOS (Military Occupational Specialties) can take up to a year to train. You must willing to give that time up as a Reservist, which means postponing school. However if you are determined to becoming a service member this is probably the best route to go. You can continue your schooling after you complete you training. There is one more option to consider, if you are already or going to be pretty soon a Junior in College, you should get more info about the PLC (Platoon Leaders Course for Marine Officers). Becoming an officer is not as easy as becoming an enlisted man, but there are more perks. If you meet the qualifications, I recommend it as the better option. My advice is you speak with a Recruiter and figure out the next steps to joining.http://www.marines.mil/Portals/5...http://www.marines.com/becoming-...

When do I get my uniform and military ID once I enlisted for the one USMC?

I cannot speak for the marines but I am sure it would be about the same as the US Army. You arrive at your training base as nothing. For me it took 8–10 days to assemble the personnel that made of our basic training company. Your drill training NCO’s and officers will immediately meet you. From that minute on you belong to the US military. Soldiering begins instantly. You will be assigned housing, draw equipment and gear, receive uniforms, complete documents, and medical exams. If nothing has changed, dog tags will be provided. Rank will be assigned starting at the bottom. If you had been part of the ROTC program, possibly one rank or more higher as I did. That experience and rank allowed me to serve as a squad leader. From then on it’s in your hands to survive and transform with your platoon into a fighting machine. For me, my platoon was awarded outstanding company platoon in both Basic and AIT training giving us a lot of Pride and certain privileges that the other 4 platoons missed out on.

Will the Marines let me enlist if I have had broken bones?

Of course it depends on which bones, how many, how long ago, are they properly set and healed, and are there any other residuals such as arthritis or other medical conditions. You must tell the recruiters about all your broken bones in your lifetime; whether they matter or not will be for the recruiters, and more importantly, the medical waiver process, to decide. If they have healed properly, and you really don’t have any lingering issues, no pain, no swelling, no other issues, then unless we are talking a skull fracture, cervical or spine vertebrae, or maybe hipbone, shouldn’t be a big problem. For the really precious bones, anything that cracked or broke them might very well have caused other problems, too, that might be residuals even if the bones themselves healed.Say you were in a bad car accident, with a broken finger bone, a broken arm bone, a broken rib, and a skull fracture. The finger is likely to develop arthritis later in life, but shouldn’t be a problem today. The arm when set and healed shouldn’t be a problem. But the rib might have punctured a lung or spleen or liver or kidney. Whether you knew it or not. Possible residuals and complications worth looking into further, even though the rib itself might be healed nicely.Same for skulls or vertebrae. The bone itself might heal nicely, but what about what’s underneath or inside? Tissue damage? Post-concussive syndrome (AKA “TBI”)? Radiating neuropathy/radiculopathy? Nerve numbness? “Brain” problems? PTSD from the accident?Everything must be put on the table, so all the medical issues, current, past, and residual, can be evaluated in context for military service.

Can I join the Marines with a suspended license?

You were recently arrested and you have a GED.

Adderall in the USMC?

I'm looking into enlisting into the Marine Corps or Army, and I've been prescribed by a M.D., Adderall. Now, I'm told I have to be off of it one year before I'm eligible.I'm 30 yrs.old, and I can't wait a year, and still have a shot at the schools I want. I qualified special warfare in USNROTC in college, why am I now getting barriers? Fugitives and drug addicts enlist, why can't I?
