Can You Gain Weight But Look Thinner

I look thinner but have gained weight??!!!?

Hey I have been doing about the same thing as you, walking everyday and yes I look thinner too but have put on a few pounds. I just checked today and I did feel a bit disappointed, but I do know that it is muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat, but the muscle will also help to burn fat so it is a good thing. Also, muscle, even though it weighs more, takes up less space. Don't be discouraged, if you feel great and your clothes fit nicely, who cares what the scale says.

I look thinner, but gained weight?

I used to be a bit chunky and then I lost weight and I weighed less. Recently, I've started eating normalish again and gained like 7 or 8 pounds, but I still look skinny. I weigh just as much as I did before, but I'm skinnier. I've always been a competitive swimmer, so I highly doubt the gain is just muscle because I've always had that much. What is going on? Am I gaining weight in my butt or something and not my stomach?

Why did I gain weight but look thinner?

I get the same thing, I gain weight when I work out a lot and lose weight but look fatter when I get unfit. You might also be having a growth spurt and starting to fill out. If you start gaining weight even if you don't change your eating an exercise habits, don't freak out, it means you are just turning into a woman and your hormones are changing. I was always tiny and I put on stacks of weight at 18yo even though I didn't change anything. I got love handles, big ****, thunder thighs and my bum got bigger. I'm still really skinny looking though, everyone says so and I have a low BMI, it was just that I changed from a scrawny teenager into a woman. At your age, you should be getting heavier and heavier as you turn into a woman, so no wonder you have never been this heavy in your life, you have never been closer to 20 in your life either. Don't let your body changing into a woman trigger an eating disorder again, expect to keep putting on weight in the next few years for no apparent reason, just stay healthy !

I've look thinner, but I gained weight?

Okay so the first two weeks I ate healthy and exercise. I lost 2 kgs during those 2 weeks. However on the third week I gained 0.5kg but I ate the same amount of calories as the first two weeks. I'm quite upset about this.

Gaining weight but looking thinner?

Muscle weighs more than fat. If you are toning up you will look thinner in appearance and notice it in your clothes but unfortunately the scale doesn't show it. You are doing everything right. Try not to rely on the scale but more on the mirror and how your clothes fit. This is the true way to get into shape. Congrats.

My scale says im gaining weight when i look thinner?

Likely, yes. If your clothes are fitting better, you're gaining muscle mass but decreasing your fat (muscle is more dense and weighs more than fat).

However, for a better regimen, you should eat at least 1,200 calories a day. If you eat too little, your body will go into "starvation mode" and hold on to every calorie you eat. You'll need to see what works best for you, but a range of 1,200 to 1,500 calories a day are considered healthful if you're trying to lose weight. It's recommended to eat whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats (or other sources of protein, like beans), low fat dairy and monounsaturated fats (such as olive oil or avocado). Keep up with the healthy lifestyle and your body will thank you for years to come!

Is it possible to weigh a lot but look thinner?

Yes, some people just weigh more than others. I’m 5′3 and I can wrap my hands around my thighs, and my waist is smaller than my legs (front and side view). People tell me I can't weigh more than 100 lbs. I’m somewhat fit, but nowhere near getting an incredibly dense muscle mass. Pants/dress size 2. Bust, Waist, Hips: 34–25–32.5 in.I weigh 135 lbs. Doctors can't explain it either. My Advice: If you like how you look, stay that way. Don’t decide to lose weight simply because of the number on the scale.

I look thinner but i weigh more? added details.?

so i've worked out for a year and i think i look smaller, my trainer says i do, my mom said "you look the same...i guess" i dont know what the heck that means. but i have a lot more muscle on me, i can flex and stuff.
the thing is i gained 25 pounds, i know i weigh in the 200's but i worked hard and stuff and maybe i dont eat that great all the time but almost 75% of the time i do.
i had a jacket i wore december 2007 that was skin tight, if i wear it now i have room in it, a fair bit ammount of room...not falling off me but still.
i carry a lot of my weight in my stomach, but id say even thats gone down a bit, my legs and arms have always been chunky, i have big bones like my aunt. i'm 5'9" by the way.
why would i weigh 25 pounds more but look the same/a bit smaller?
i know 25 pounds is a big jump but normally in the past (I KNOW THIS IS SOO BAD) but ive gained like 34 pounds in one year, 25 is already different, not too mention i have a lot more muscle...so maybe 5-10 pounds of it isn't muscle, but yeah....why would i look smaller but gain more?
