Can You Gamble And Not Get Addicted

Can you gamble and not get addicted?

Can casual gambling still be bad?

I'm a 21 year old guy and a friend of mine suggested that I should go to a local casino and play board Keno. He said it is 25 cents a game and the casino also offers free drinks (sodas, beer, etc.) to those that play. I would only be playing "maybe" 2-3 days a week, 2-3 games a day. This is more of a social get-away-from-the-video-games-at-home-ty... thing.

I am financially stable and pay all my bills on time. I've already established a $10-$15 a month limit, or 60 games, if I even spend all of that in the first place.

I just want to get some insight on this from more experienced gamblers out there.

Best answer gets 10 points. Thanks.

Why do people get addicted to gambling?

It is known that people have troubles with gambling, they just can't stop! This addiction is different from others, you don't use it like cigarets ore alcohol, you don't insert it into your body. Can someone explaine why?

How do people get addicted to gambling?

So Sorry, but just don't go! I never liked casino's. I had a few friends that went all the time. I finally just said the truth. I don't casino's. Can we do something else once in awhile? Fair is fair, if they are your good friends, it's give and take. Good luck! I did lose some of my friends because it just wasn't fun for me. To me it's just a matter of throwing money away. If you win? lol you've either won your money back, or will get addicted because you won. good luck go U... I'll be your non-casino girlfriend... Hugs..email anytime. Connie

Why don't gambling addicts get it?

I for the life of me,don't understand why people who are gambling addicts can't get it or understand that gambling is a self destructive behavior. I mean people are always looking at a way to get rich quick and why are so many people,"willing,"to just throw their hard earned money away when they gamble?

I have never understood why people find gambling so wonderful, what is so wonderful about it? I mean people go into casinos thinking they are going to,"win big,"when in reality they just sink deeper into debt and self destruction not only with themselves, but with their family too!

Forget trying to talk to a gambling addict, because they don't think they have a problem, and you would be better off talking to a wall than to a gambling addict.

Why are so many people so blind and so stupid, thinking that gambling is the answer to all of their problems? I look forward to your responses and the best answer gets 10 points! Serious answers only please!

What you can do is be there for support and encouragement. Most people often feel isolated when they’re recovering from an addiction. It is important that as a friend/family member you support them through the process.

Will I get addicted to gambling if I visit a casino?

If you have a predisposition to addiction in other areas, yes. If you don't, no.Gambling is no more addictive than anything else that provides any small amount of thrill and excitement. The vast vast vast vast majority of people who visit casinos do not not develop gambling addictions, much like most people who have a drink now and then don't become alcoholics.I know some people will refuse to believe this, but having worked in the industry for a few years, I can say that the house has zero interest in people becoming addicted. They're in the business of entertainment. They want people to come, enjoy themselves, and come back again because it was a positive experience. And they want people who can afford to come, gamble at a comfortable level, and afford to come back again some day (well, really they want the whales -- the rich/high-stakes gamblers, but that's a different class of player. Speaking about average adults here.)Point is, people who become addicted and gamble more than they can afford aren't good customers in the long run. Sure, the casino might get a short term windfall, but  those customers quickly get to the point where they can't sustain their level of gambling and their value drops to near zero. Not good for growing and sustaining a business.

How do I gamble without getting addicted?

First, we have to know what is the addiction. It is a big issue in the present era and most of the people are suffering from it. Addiction is nothing but only a psychological craze or dependence towards anything.Although gambling addiction cannot be identified so easily, there are some signs which can denote that addiction a little bit. That includes constant discussion about gambling, making gambling plan, gambling at any odd time, getting into a long debt circle, giving priority to only gambling not even to personal life and responsibilities. Therefore, you need to be disciplined and never bet more than you can afford to lose. Also, I suggest you follow profitable tipsters and check out some of the best betting prediction sites.

How should I deal with my gambling addiction?

I've lost a little over $5K on sports gambling, poker, blackjack, roulette, craps and other random casino stuff..

I'm 21 years old.. I've been gambling since I was 17.

How can I kick this habit before I start earning real money when I graduate from college in less than a year.

I have tried to kick the habit or stop losing money with the following reasoning:

I justify not sports gambling because I never have sufficient information to make a bet and when I do I get restless and keep gambling.. I would go up 3 grand and gamble it all away because the games are over for the week and I want action.. always..

Or with poker I'd play garbage hands because I'd get bored.. or get it in just to feel the rush.. so that's not good..

Now you ask what if I kept emotions out of it.. I think I could get really small returns on my investments with poker or sports betting.. But every time I get up I lose it all again because I can't stop. I have tried wagering and playing poker 'smart' but it gets boring and I just end up big betting or playing crap hands cause I'm not enjoying myself.

As for the roulette, blackjack... when games aren't on or poker isn't going well that's where I go..

I know, I know. I tell my friends and they say I'm stupid. But it's like a drug.. and I'm coming off a period of depression too.. This validates my intelligence when I win.. makes me excited.. I never cared about school, got into a good college & received crap grades.. had crappy relationships, friends..

Gambling is all I've had for a while.. It's what has made me happy.

Can you give me some advice, thanks.

Why is gambling so addictive?

A  gambler has flawed thinking.  Logic is set aside in favor of luck.  For example,Placing a bet on black because it hasn't come up in 10 spins of the roulette wheel.Logically the odds of black coming up should be exactly even but the house has anadvantage because there are 2 spins that are house favored which are 00 and color green.  The house holds the advantage in any system.  A bet of one dollar gives the American bettor odds against winning of 37-1.Of course gamblers have their systems which may slow down the losing processbut in the end the odds always favor the house.Gambling addiction is not to be taken lightly.  It sucks a paycheck earned legitimately by hard work into the hands of those who profit on their misery. The addict must lose because he can feel bad about himself to justify his constant need to gamble.  Gamblers I have known are consumed with the excitement, whether they win or lose.  Do they take their winnings hometo pay the bills?  Not on your life.  The object is the excitement and not taking the winnings.  There is always one more level to reach but it is notattained because the addict  will always lose in the end, in fact, must lose in the end.
