Can You Get A Sore Throat From Being In House That Was On Fire A Week Earlier

Why do you get a sore throat if you leave the heater on all night?

What happens is that your throat gets dry and sore.Depends on what type of heater you have. If it is ducted heating belching out hot/warm dry air then you surely will end up with a dry throat, tendency to cough and eventually may lead to inflammation.Hydronic heating is by far the best but more expensive and more difficult to install.Humidifyers may be an option. Also you can have a glass of water at your bedside so you can sip some water at night when you feel your throat is dry.Do you sleep with your mouth open? are you a mouth breather? That may be one of the reason why your throat gets dry too.

About how long will my sore throat last?

I know the sore throat and I find it to be one the worst pains - not because of its intensity but because it gets in the way of eating, swallowing - sometimes even talking. Furthermore it lasts a lot. A sore throat usually is either followed by or occurs during a cold. It's basically a small rip, cut or a sensibility of the tissue. Like all blisters it takes some time to heal. The fact that it's internal and there's no way of putting a band aid or some creme on it, but also constantly irritating it by swallowing makes it last so long.

My bad sore throats can last up to 2 weeks, if I don't do anything against them. However, here I some tips which greatly minder the pain and speed up the healing process:

1. Drink a class of freshly squeezed lemon juice. It hurts at first, but it minders after a while.
2. Put a few drops of Eucalyptus Oil/Solution on your tongue and swallow them. It's a very strong menthol and numbs out your pain for a very short while.
3. Get one of those ear cleaning sticks (don't know what they're called) or get a match and cover one end with a little peace of a cotton swab and dip it in Methylene Blue. Try and reach the area which hurts and 'paint' it with this solution. It tastes a little bitter, but dries the wound a little bit up.
4. Drink really hot tea. So hot that you'll thing your tongue caught fire - not boiling though.
5. When going to sleep, bind a thin piece of cloth dipped in alcohol (Blue Spirit) around your neck. It may feel uncomfortable at first, but it does good to your throat.
6. Suck on some sweet (if possible lemon) candy.
7. Don't drink anything cold. Keep everything as hot as possible. Chew the food as well as possible before swallowing.

You can get those two products (Eucalyptus Oil, Spirit and Methylene Blue) from any pharmacy. They're really cheap and are always good to have around your house.

Hope you get better soon!

Swollen/Misshapen Tonsil and Sore Throat After Oral?

So I've been hooking up with this guy once a week for a long time now, I give him head, and he usually cums in my mouth. About a week or two ago after we met up I noticed that my throat hurt, I thought that it was just because I deep throated him, but then underneath the right side of my jaw started to swell up and it hurt to turn my head or cough. So I went out and bought a throat spray, and the welling went away but my throat is still hurting. Then yesterday I ended up shining a light in my mouth to see what my tonsils looked like and my right tonsil is very red swollen and misshapen. I'm till using the spray and it doesn't hurt as much today but its still large, and i'm worried its something serious but I really don't want to go to the doctors. Any information would be helpful

I've had a really HORRIBLE week. My nerves are fried. What should I do?

There was a massive fire that almost took out my house earlier this week. Thank god nobody was hurt, though I have some friends who lost their home.

I almost choked to death while eating and driving (ok not the smartest idea) but I braked and it dislodged. I braked so hard I basically gave myself the Heimlich. Not sure if this is the safest thing but I was ok.

On top of everything my hairdresser made my hair ORANGE (supposed to be blonde, now blonde with strawberry blond roots) It doesn't look horrible....but I will have to wait to get it corrected.

I am also having family over for Thanksgiving and I haven't got a thing done to prepare. I have so much to do and haven't shopped or anything! Part of my neighborhood is still blocked off from the fire and traffic is horrible too.

In many ways I am glad to be alive after the week I had BUT my nerves are shot. In other words I am cranky, jumpy, my stomach is all messed up and I am just totally fried. I can't sleep but I am tired when I stay awake. I don't know what to do. I am just freaking out. I have so much to do in the next few days and I am just so overwhelmed.

I need some advice BADLY....Or something I don't know. Someone please help. What should I do? I am all shaky and just feel so awful like I want to puke, cry, scream and go hide in a cave or something! What the hell is wrong with me? How can I pull myself together and get back on track by tomorrow?

How do you get rid of Strep throat?

(m)

How Can I Get Better?
If you have strep throat, your doctor will give you an antibiotic (say: an-tye-bye-ah-tik), a medicine that kills bacteria. Usually the antibiotic used for strep throat is a form of penicillin (say: peh-nuh-sih-lun). You will take penicillin as a pill, a liquid, or a shot.

To make sure the bacteria go away completely and don't spread to other parts of your body, you must finish all of the medicine. Your doctor will have you take the pills or liquid for about a week.

Your mom or dad may give you acetaminophen (say: uh-see-tuh-mih-nuh-fun) to get rid of aches, pains, and fever. You'll want to have soothing drinks, like tea and warm chicken soup. It's best to avoid spicy and acidic foods, such as orange juice, because they could irritate your tender throat.

Your doctor will tell you to stay home from school until you have been taking the antibiotic for at least 24 hours. This way, you won't spread the bacteria to others.

How Can I Prevent Strep Throat?
If someone in your house has strep throat, you might get it. But you can take these steps to prevent it:

Make sure the person with strep throat covers his or her mouth when sneezing and coughing.
Don't handle used tissues or other germy items.
Wash your hands regularly, especially before cooking and eating.
Wash dishes, drinking glasses, knives, forks, and spoons in hot, soapy water.
Keep sores and cuts clean because strep can get in there and cause problems, too.

What should I do after breathing in a lot of dust?

This is an excellent question and the answer to it will vary depending on what type of dust you have breathed in.  The truth be told, we all breathe in lots of dust everyday.  Most dust will be filtered out by the hairs and mucus lining in your nose.  However, dust that is inhaled from asbestos or fiberglass is another matter entirely.  In this case, a trip to the hospital is imperative and without delay.  Unfortunately, there is no cure for asbestos being inhaled but doctors may prescribe breathing treatments and medication to help with the symptoms.  This is why companies exist where employees have the equipment and training to remove these materials safely.Working with wood and drywall can be dangerous because of the dust these material can create.  Always wear a dust mask to prevent dust inhalation.  Extended periods of breathing in the dust will potentially cause lung problems.    That being said if you breathe in too much dust from cleaning a dirty room you may begin to sneeze and/or cough which is your body's attempt to remove the dust.  If you went beyond what the body can expel by sneezing and/or coughing you usually will experience a sore throat.  When this happens drinking a cool glass of water will help to flush your throat.  Sometimes a cough drop will help the throat to recover faster. If breathing in a lot of dust around your home is a concern for you why not hire a professional cleaning company to clean your home and let them handle the dust.
