Can You Get Second Degree Burn From The Sun

Do i have sun poison or 2nd degree burns?

It will cure your sunburn.

Brew enough tea bags to cover a considerable area of the sunburn and ice down to get the tea really cold. Place the cold, wet tea bags and/or a rag drenched in the tea over the affected area, keeping the bags and rags cold. If you can submurge the burned part of the body, do so into the tea. Do this for at least one hour as often as you can (3 or so times a day) until it fades. This works for second and third degree burns as well and will prohibit scarring! The tea works as an antioxidant and pulls the heat out of your body. It stops the pain temporarily also.

How do you know if your sunburn is second degree?

I was out in the sun/water yesterday and all my sunscreen washed away. Today, I'm cranberry red and really tender and sore. I can barely move. I can't tell if my sunburn is second degree.

How can I treat second degree burns?

Only first and second degree burns are treatable without a doctor and that's only if they are small and not in areas where healing may be complicated. If you feel that your burn isn't healing well or doesn't look right, please see a doctor.Second degree burns that are over more than 10% of your body, are in your groin, by your eyes or in the areas of your joints where the skin is always touching require medical evaluation as well.Third or worse require immediate medical attention. For treatment of your burn:Immediately run burns under cool water for 5-10 minutes.Apply nonstick gauze pad and tape in place or wrap in place. If the burn is just a small blister, you may leave it open to air when you are at home but cover with a bandaid when you leave to protect the blister and prevent infection.Only apply aloe vera gel or petroleum jelly. Do not apply lotions or antibiotic ointment. Lotions have chemicals in them that may interfere with the healing process. Antibiotic ointment only needs to be used if and when the wound becomes infected.DO NOT APPLY ICE! Your skin is already damaged. You have already burned the first few layers off. Applying ice to this damaged, fragile skin can cause first bite very quickly!Do not pop the blister. The body will eventually absorb the fluid. If the blister pops, be sure to keep the area clean, dry and covered when in public. If the blister pops, watch for infection. Apply antibiotic ointment if you see redness around the wound, if the are is swollen or the area is warm to touch. If your have any of those symptoms and you develope a fever or have nausea/vomiting, see your doctor as soon as you can or go to an ER. If you see red steaks coming from your wound, spreading in thin lines, go to the ER immediately.

Showering with bad sunburn (blisters and second degree burn)?

yes its ok to shower...although it my hurt. dont use hot or cold water, but a luke warm temperature. make sure your body wash is gentle and do not use a washcloth. when you get out of the shower don't rub your skin with the towel but rather dab your skin with it in a gentle manner. before you get dressed apply lotion or an after-sun burn ointment to the sunburned areas of your skin. also, try to wear loose fitting clothes, otherwise the material might rub up against your blisters causing pain or even greater irritation. ps. try to be careful of over exposure to the sun like that! sunburns are what cause skin cancer =(

What should be done to treat a second-degree burn?

The most important thing with any burn is to COOL it. The underlying tissues will continue to get damaged until you've removed the heat with cold water, ice packs, cold wraps, whatever's available. After that it's best to see a doctor for a second degree burn. If that's not possible apply whatever disinfectant you have (diluted spirits or saline solution will help) and protect the area with a light bandage. Rinse daily with your disinfectant and let the area air dry for awhile every day so it can form new skin.

How long does second-degree burn scars last?

Let’s make sure we’re talking about the same type of burn.A first degree burn has reddened skin.A second degree develops blisters.A third degree has actual charred skin and muscle. So if you have burn blisters, a lot depends on where the burn is and how you care for it. Be sure to keep the burn clean and dry. Lightly covered is good but make sure there is some air circulation. Do not pop the blister. Don’t pick at it as it dries. As the blister dries on its own, a light oil or lotion will help. Keep the burned area out of the sun, new skin sun burns and reacts badly to the sun. Sunscreen helps for exposed areas. Most second degree burns will heal without scars. Treat them gently and all will be fine.

Should I work this weekend? 2nd degree sunburn! help ASAP plz!?

Last Saturday (4 days ago) I was at the beach for 10 hours, and even though I put sunscreen on at least 3 times, I managed to get 1st degree burns on my face and upper body, and 2nd degree burns on my shoulders and outer pecs/chest. (1"w x 7"t, on both sides)

I was applying Aloecain Sunday & Monday, and Tuesday I applied Seabreez and Nivea Cream to moisturize it and prevent it from peeling.

However, by Tuesday night it was peeling like crazy and I gave up on the war, and just let it dry out.

I went to my Kickboxing and Grappling classes, and unfortunately the blisters on my left shoulder were torn off while fighting, exposing the second burned layer of skin.

Due to the amount of sweating and such, I figured it was in a lot of danger of getting infected, so after lifting weights for a half hour I took a shower. Just the cool water stung like ... well, you get the idea.

So I put Neosporine on the open wounds (where I tore the blisters off), and covered them with Gauze, and slept for 12 hours (on-and-off =\).

I am now wearing a clean white T-shirt over them, and am wondering if I should put more Neosporine on them or what?

My family refuses to take me to Urgent Care, because it doesn't seem that severe, and I do not have Medical Insurance.

Now my friend has invited me to Six Flags on Friday, I'm supposed to be doing MMA training & Ice Hockey practice, and Sat-Sun I'm supposed to be working, which includes being in the sun for 6 hours both days.

I suppose I will have to cancel them all, unless my blisters heal up before then. But I need to call my boss today and tell him if I'm available to work or not!?
