Can You Get Tattoos In Ait

Can I get away with a tattoo at AIT?

I'm going to basic and ait this fall and I was wondering if I could get away with getting a tattoo, during ait. The tattoo will cover all of my bicep and a bit of my forearm. Will I be able to get it since the sgt. will usually just see me in my uniform or pt's.

Getting a tattoo between BCT and AIT?

Here is the Army policy:

TATTOO POLICY

1. Must not have any lewd or offensive indelible marks or figures (tattoos) visible on any exposed part of the body while wearing the prescribed duty uniform, to include the physical training uniform. Photos will be submitted of all tattoos unless they are in a private area (Males- brief area, females – brief area and frontal bra area)

2. Army policy prohibits any tattoos or brands on the face, head or neck above the class-A shirt collar. Current policy for the hands only authorizes small innocuous tattoos or brands that are not prejudicial to the good order or discipline within Army units and do not detract from a professional military appearance.

3. Tattoos or brands that are extremist, indecent, sexist or racist are prohibited, regardless of location on the body, as they are prejudicial to good order and discipline within the Army. (a) Extremist tattoos or brands are those affiliated with, depicting or symbolizing extremist philosophies, organizations, or activities; those which advocate racial, gender or ethnic hatred or intolerance; advocate, create or engage in illegal discrimination based on race, color, gender, ethnicity, religion or national origin; or advocate violence or other unlawful means of depriving individual rights under the U.S. Constitution or federal and state law (see para 4-12, AR 600-20). (b) Indecent tattoos or brands are those that are grossly offensive to modesty, decency or propriety; shock the moral sense because of their vulgar, filthy or disgusting nature, or tendency to insight lustful thought; or tend reasonably to corrupt morals or incite libidinous thoughts. (c) Sexist tattoos or brands are those that advocate a philosophy that degrades or demeans a person based on gender, but that may not meet the same definition of “indecent”. (d) Racist tattoos or brands are those that advocate a philosophy that degrades or demeans a person based on race, ethnicity or national origin.

Tattoos in AIT?

I'm at Fort Lee, VA for my AIT and I was wondering if I could get any tattoos? Im not getting any around base or off base. If I'm allowed to get tattoos then I'm going to wait till Christmas break and get my stomach did by my tattoo artist when I get home.

Why do you want to have a tattoo?

I’ve been having the same thought the last few years, and came to discover:Social pressure, Berlin is a very open city and people like to show their tattoos. Being without almost feels like being naked.Making a permanent mark of a moment in your life. It’s a lasting memory that puts your life in perspective. Like having a permanent journal that travels with you.Contrasting #2, hiding who you really are by covering yourself with big screaming tattoos. This is the dogma that also is very alive with a much older generation. The rush of the ‘pain’ of a tattoo, I can only imagine this - as finishing a visit to the dentist. To end on a positive note and why I think it’s fascinating, art. Tattoo artists are that, artists. Being their canvas, being part of that, adding beauty that you carry with you, tells a lot about who you are as well – either enjoying art or being part of it. Some people buy Monet or a van Gogh, but that never really becomes part of you. A tattoo does!p.s. I haven’t gotten any yet. But the fascination is just as alive!

How do you make a tattoo heal faster?

This is the advice I was given by a former Marine with tattoos on almost every part of his body. I followed it, and it worked pretty well for me, but be cautious anyway. No advice is one size fits all…Keep it clean, but don’t overwash. I washed my tattoos once a day with antibacterial hand soap, patted it dry, and then applied aloe vera gel onto it. I liked the way it felt, so I’d put it on thick. After it dried, I’d apply triple antibiotic ointment(you can find it at the dollar store, but if you’re into name brands you can buy Neosporin). If it started to hurt, or itch, I’d reapply the ointment.Definitely don’t wear any tight clothes that might fuck with the healing process. As tattoos heal, they will scab. DON’T pull the scabs off! Let them fall of naturally. When in doubt, slap some antibiotic ointment on it!Happy tatting

Army tattoo policy for AIT soldier?

No it is not out of regulation. You can get the tattoo... just make sure you can still do your PT and all that. if it interferes with work or PT you could get into trouble but if not your fine. I had several in AIT and I have been in the ARMY for 10 years

Can Split Option Soldiers get tattoos?

I am a Split Option Soldier and i just returned from basic training and i will not be going to AIT until May, and i was looking to get an Army tattoo with a buddy of mine but i was wondering am i able to get a tattoo after BCT but before AIT or am i breaking UCMJ? It would be on my arm but covered by my sleeve.

Getting another tattoo while in the Army?

Yeah...Tattoos. I had one at meps. 3 when I went to basic. No one cared. They simply took note of them and sent me on my merry way. I got another at AIT and another just yesterday. So long as they are not gang related of offensive no one will care.

You are supposed to get command approval for all tattoos prior to getting them but I have never seen this done unless it is on the forearm, neck, or hands.
