Is 商安琪 a good Chinese female name?

The pronunciation sounds so nice, but I suggest that you use「裳」instead of「商」.---------Ok, you win. 商安琪 is a good Chinese female name, and this name integrates both Chinese and Western cultures.

Is 武飞兰 a good Chinese name for a girl?

I’ll be giving you some opinion and insight into this name here.飛 is more masculine, in the Chinese language as it is associated with fighting, freedom, and such. (No, it is not sexist to think this way, as it’s just a kind of “feeling” or “vibe” 飛 gives.)蘭, however, is a really pretty and (leaning towards) feminine name. It means orchid flowers and gives a youthful, elegant, prettiness to the name. It is a rather unisex character. When you put 飛 and 蘭 together, it clashes and conflicts with the idea/image one would have of a girl. (entirely elegant, soft, gentle, etc)武飛蘭 is, because of the above reasons, in my opinion, a better name for a boy. For a boy, it will be a name that is feisty yet elegant. Like a warrior from the ancient times skilled in the art of fighting yet also in the art of calligraphy(if that makes sense to you)It is your choice though, (really depends on your personality or the person’s personality) I really like the way this name as it reminds me of a warrior with an elegant, poised soul.Good Luck!

What are some popular female Chinese names?

Actually it is quite impossible to enumerate popular female Chinese names, because there is no such thing as popular Chinese names now. Most of the Chinese parents name their children by combining different Chinese characters, or consulting the Suanming Xiansheng (some sort of fortune teller). The latter naming method is dying out, as new generations are receiving higher level of education. But, in the country/village or some very conservative part of China, this method still prevails. In the former case, names are created by the selection and combination of different characters, rather than chosen. Parents carefully select the name of their child in accordance to certain maxims, summarized in the following:Do not use characters that have the same pronunciation with other senior relatives in your family (e.g. uncles, aunts, grand parents, etc).Do not use characters whose meaning or/pronunciation would remind people of negative image.Avoid characters that are too complex to write.Choose characters that have a profound meaning.Ignore all the above maxims:)A little bit off the topic, but I hope this might be helpful if you want to give a Chinese name to a baby girl. My parents give me my Chinese name (卫健) after consulting the local fortuneteller LOL.

Is "贾月" a good Chinese female name for a foreigner to choose and use?

A so so name which is so Chinese.People will definitely smile when your friend tell them the name with her non-Chinese looking because it's too Chinese. Well I'd say it's a good name in this way, it will break the ice in the very first beginning and make people happy.Actually you can make this name a little bit more classy by replacing the 月 with a different word which has the same meaning and more — a fairy tale or an idiom. For example, 广寒 玉蟾 桂魄 , etc. But I'm not suggesting using these words directly because some of them are weird for name and some just don't fit 贾 because 贾 sounds exactly same with 假 fake.If I choose a female Chinese name with 贾 for surname and 月 for given name, I may go with 贾玉婵. 玉婵 is a very feminine name which sounds the same with 玉蟾,a poetic nickname for moon. But 玉 in a girl's name looks a little bit old-fashioned. Your friend can start introducing herself with 一片冰心在玉壶的玉,千里共婵娟的婵。If a Chinese girl introducing herself in this way some cynicals might think “wow she is so pretentious”, but it will work on a foreigner, people will think like “wow she adores Chinese culture, I like her a lot”.贾望舒 is my favorite. 望舒 is a goddess like Apollo, she drives a carriage which loaded the moon. 95% or more Chinese would not know the quotation, some would remind 戴望舒 if he/she is well educated in Chinese literature because 戴望舒 was a poet. Your friend can start with explaining her name with 望舒’s story when she is making new friends, people will think like “wow she knows Chinese culture that I don't even know, this girl is genius”. And even more, she can tell the story of Apollo as well meantime, some people will fall in love with her instantly if he cherished a woman with wisdom and artistry. In a short summary: 贾月 is a girl next door from an average neighborhood, 贾玉婵 is kinda like heroin of a love story, 贾望舒 is a classy young lady whose father is a professor in college.
