Can You Give Me Some Ideas For My Children

Can anyone give me ideas of what to name my child?

I don't know how common it is, but I really like Ayla for a girl. There aren't too many unique names anymore that don't sound like an odd laundry detergent though.

You should pick something with good meaning and then switch some of the letters around.

Shyla is different...
Raina

This is difficult to do! :) LOL Good luck and congrats on the baby!! :)

How to tell my children about sin?

Recently my sister-in-law committed suicide, and I attended the funeral with my wife and five children. At the funeral there was much talk of how the aforementioned sister-in-law is in a better place, which as I Christian I know not to be true. Suicide is an act against God that is punished with burning hellfire for all eternity. I don't want my kids to get the idea that my sister-in-law is in a better place, because that would be lying to them about the intentions of God and His punishments. My wife has been unreceptive to my wishes to tell my children of this, so how can I convince her that I'm right. If I can't, I'll tell the kids anyway, if this is the case, how do I tell them?

I don't have any food to feed my children......?

There is nothing wrong with the bananas, apples, peaches, ect, being the main course of their meal... Sometimes meals here consist of a few different veggies, a few different fruits, and some kind of cheese (string cheese, cottage cheese, cheese cubes/slices) just because that is what she is in the mood for.

EDIT: I agree with what they others are saying... that you put it there and they have to try it... they won't starve themselves. Sometimes Emma will sit at her highchair for an hour before touching a new food, and most times she ends up loving it! Have you tried other meats with them? Not lunch meat, but "regular meat" (LOL) like ham, turkey (which, imo, is a lot like chicken) hamburger, pork chops? If you "cube" them all, like you said they seem to like the chicken, maybe they will try it :) You could offer sauces for different foods too... For about 2 months, emma wouldn't touch anything unless it had a sauce (cheese, alfredo, red sauce) or ranch dressing.

Any ideas on how to stop strangers from giving my child candy in public?

This ‘problem’ should have been handled before it happened. Simply train your child to say “No thank you” and to never accept candy from strangers. If the stranger is persistent, put your hand between the candy and your child and, looking the stranger in the eye, firmly say “no thank you. If the stranger is persistent, continue to look firm and say, “No thank you. S/he has had enough sweets today and we are really trying to limit her/his sugar. And, yes, one more piece will make a difference.” And then, get the heck away from this weirdo as fast as you can.

What are some ideas to get my child with Asperger's physically active?

More than likely, your child struggles with two elements of the sporting world:1: Proprioception (understanding their location within three dimensional space. Some people incorrectly refer to this as eye/hand coordination.)2: Subtle cues often necessary for a team sport. So, choose any activity that doesn’t involve these. Swimming? You just got to swim in a straight line. Water Skiing? Its a big handle and its better to fall down on water than on land. Long Distance Running? Its just running for a really long time.Your child may prove to be slower to learn these skills but with patience your child will eventually close the gap. My son is twelve and has been taking swim lessons for three years. He’s about a year behind the other kids. So what? He always improves and by the time he turns 14 he might be good enough to join swim team in High School. In the meantime, he’s having fun.I studied Martial Arts. I was slower than the other kids. But, it massively helped with my self-esteem and the only person I competed against was myself. There is more to physical activity than football, basketball, baseball and soccer. Once you eliminate the ball you’ll find there is a vast assortment of physical activities that any Aspie can master.

I'm creating a website to help children in a orphanage. Can you give me any ideas of a name for my website?

Would naming my child Azazel be a bad idea?

Hello young man/lady, what’s your name?Azazel.Really, what a unique name! I’ve never heard that before, where does it come from? It’s an ancient Hebrew word. It doesn’t have a direct translation, but “scapegoat,” would be on the right track. Jewish priests would take two goats. One would be sacrificed to God as an offering. The other goat would symbolically take on all of the sins and mistakes of the entire nation, and then it would be chased out into the desert to die. That goat was “for Azazel.”Oh… wow. And that’s what your parents chose to name you?Yeah… I mean, it was also the name of a demonic villain in an old television show from the early 21st century. It’s also the name of a bunch of different demons and monsters in old comic books and movies and video games.Huh. Well, that’s certainly interesting. Do you get tired of explaining this? You have no idea.

Can you give me examples of dramatic play Ideas for Infants, toddlers and preschoolers?

Sociodramatic play is often used to help children acquire social information and learn social norms. You could offer a variety of costumes for different professions and have the students act out what those professionals do for the community. Younger children do well with acting upon stuffed animals or dolls to rehearse social roles, like being the teacher or mother to a doll. Having household toys, like a play kitchen, telephone, or garden tools, could also be useful. It depends on the goal of the task.

How do I teach my child to have a sense of urgency?

When teaching undergraduates I encounter plenty of 17-20 year olds who have not learnt the sense of urgency or imminence (e.g. deadlines). So in effect teaching them both falls to us teachers. I hark back to my own childhood when, in the weeks following acquisition of a new record or cassette tape (ancestors of CD and streaming, if you were born in the 1990s), I used to start listening to them after breakfast and routinely miss my school bus. My father would sometimes give me money for an alternative option to school, sometimes drive me to school and at other times, leave me to my own devices. This last bit was the hardest to navigate.I learnt quickly the connection between how one decision sets off a chain of events. Listening to music without any sense of time means missed bus means walk to an alternative bus stop for a different route and sheepishly join them while everyone stared, or worse, get public transport. In any case, get a talking-to first thing in the morning. I use and have used successfully this learning with my students and younger persons in my extended family.  The way to help them develop a sense of urgency is to help them understand consequentiality of actions, choices, decisions and non-decisions. It helps if the consequence is something they were looking forward to but missed because they don't understand their delays change the course of things. As a parent, it will take some resolve to not give in to doe eyes pleading for more time, for help, for alternatives. But if I recall right, it took just two missed-buses when my father refused to drive me to school, and I had missed the other school bus, to stop me listening to music in the morning as if I had nowhere else to be. PS Equally as a parent, you might also pause to examine such consequences before asking the child to "hurry up" all the time. The carefree loitering that childhood allows is soon taken away.
