So my teacher explains Kepler's 3rd law to be something like this (Ta/Tb)^2 = (Ra/Rb)^3... The "/" represents a fraction not a division symbol. T represents time, and the R represents radius of from the sun to the planet. Or in official terms, the semi major/minor radius I guess.... Anyway I know this may not be current because there is an updated form of this but for the sake of this case let's use this. The problem goes like this. Pick a planet of your choice (other than the Earth) from the solar system. You can pick Pluto. You can look up distances here Planet Distance from Sun in AU: Mercury 0.39, Venus 0.72, Earth 1.0, Mars 1.5, Jupiter 5.2, Saturn 9.5, Uranus 19.2, Neptune 30.1, Pluto (dwarf planet) 39.5. Now, calculate the ratio of the orbital periods (time a planet takes to go around the Sun, once) of the Earth and the planet of your choice. This is my work so far... Mercury: .39 Neptune: 30.1 (Ta/Tb)^2 = (Ra/Rb)^3 (Ta/Tb)^2 = (.39/30.1)^3 I am stuck though I need help finding out the orbit time.
