Can You Hatch A Egg Using Plant Heater

Why would a mother pigeon stop sitting on her egg and give up after 3 weeks of non-stop sitting?

She might have been frightened away from her nest. She might also feel the chick is dead and has abandoned it. Has anyone touched her eggs or nest? They don’t like anyone messing about their nest.Pigeons are not very bright, they go on instinct and are marvelous at finding their way, carrier pigeons do this, returning home like a boomerang. But as for nesters, they seem to forget or abandon them easily. We had a pair of pigeons that built two years in a row a flimsy grass nest tucked into the vines of a trumpet plant. It was near the eaves of our front patio, They could see us through the living room window, and we walked past their nest sometimes peeking in on the way to the garage. Yet they sat there stupid as heck. Of one nesting one egg hatched the rest were dead. The next year they built it again, and the neighborhood cat found the nest-4′ in air on the vines and scared away the parents and ate the eggs.

How long does it take for a fancy guppies eggs to hatch?

Firstly guppies do not lay eggs
they are live bearers, which mean they give birth to frys (little fishes)
as to how long it will take the guppy to give birth is around 28 days
but she may abort her frys (not give birth to them) due to stress (from the male chasing her, putting her in a net breeder or transporting her to another fish tank) also try the turn off the light more often because the guppies will be less stressed
so just make sure you have a lot of hiding space for the mother so the other fish (if you have any) don't bother her and also for the fry to hide after being born because the mother and other fish will eat them
a guppy can give birth to 1-100 frys depending on the condition of the fish tank and the fish itself

after the frys are born you can remove them to another tank with filter, heater, air pump etc. also make sure you cycle your water or you can scoop some water from the bigger tank and use that water
but if you don't have another tank for the frys just make sure you have a lot of plants so they can hide

you can feed the frys crushed (really crushed) flake food or if you don't mind spending money you can buy some brine shrimp eggs and hatch them, feed them little but often

if you want the fry to grow faster you can rise the temperature higher than normal (80-85F), BUT when your doing this the fry will grow faster but it can die faster also

*make sure you water is in a good condition, buy some water test kit (for Nitrate, Nitrite, pH etc) most of the time the cuase for dead guppy/fry is becuase of the water

*also make sure you have a sponge filter or cover the tube of the filter that sucks the water with some piece of frabric so the fry wont be sucked up

hope that helps! :]

Will bird eggs hatch without the mother?

A bird layed 2 eggs in a nest in one of my hanging plants. Because I had to water the plant daily, the bird was scared off and left the eggs behind. Will they hatch if I leave them alone in the nest?

Do plants really need warmth to grow?

While heat is a natural byproduct of sunlight, the two are not necessarily the same. Seeds need warmth, water and soil to grow. Obviously they start out underground where there is no light. The process of photosynthesis begins with the first leaves. Sunlight is needed to make the leaves green,  and those green leaves feed the plants. It is the warmth of the soil that causes perennials to begin to emerge in the spring. In the fall it is frost that kills the plants. Even though there may be some light during the day, once the sun sets and frost occurs the plant dies. The size of the plant depends on several factors including nutrients, genetics, soil warmth, sunlight, and water.

How long after breeding will a mystery snail lay her eggs?

They will lay the eggs about a week to ten days after they breed. Keep in mind you may not have seen the first time they mated, so the pair could surprise you.

If your filter and heater allow it, lower the water level about 3 - 4 inches in the tank, and be sure all escape ports in the lid are covered and that there is some weight on the lid so the snail can't lift it. They have a lot of strength in that foot muscle.

If not you could resort to an acrylic open top and open bottom box that nests on top of the tank with notches just big enough for the filter and heater and goes up about a footl

Live plants that break the water surface such as Amazon swordplants, spider lilies, and temple plants will also work as egg locations.

A good ploy is to take some half inch plastic pipe and fittings and make some artificial "cattail stems" going up almost to the lid, about an inch short. Make a rectangle that will fit in the tank with four elbows and a number of short pieces of pipe and tees pointed straight up. Using Oatey solvent (my favorite but there are other brands) glue the rectangle together, forming a base for the "cattails". Cut the upright pipes and push them in after the solvent has dried. Don't glue the uprights. If the female uses these instead of the bottom of the lid or the tank wall, it's easier to move the eggs to a hatching tank, so the more "stems" the better the odds. Otherwise you have to razor blade the egg mass off carefully and tie it with thread to a pipe so it hangs over the water in the hatching tank. If you don't like the white color, you can spray paint them with Krylon Fusion brand which many fish keepers have found works well inside the aquarium and is non toxic to fish and invertebrates. Be sure to clean the pipe well and remove any fabrication oils and powders and use fine sandpaper or steel wool to remove any glazing before painting. Green, brown, and black are good color choices.

Can i put real plants in the tank with aquasaurs?

i have just bought a glass tank with a heater for my aquasaurs and it looks a bit bare can i put real plants in it like you get for tropical fish and are there any particular types i should and should not get

Why do my betta's eggs keep popping/disappearing?

? Eggs are small, tucked in among air & spit bubbles (yes, betta's blow the bubbles from their 'spit'). You'll see the eggs occasionally fall from the bubble nest, and the male will pick them up and 'paste' them back among the bubbles. If you don't see him occasionally picking up eggs, then a good chance they didn't spawn..

It's fun watching betta's spawn. The male nudges her to under his bubble nest, he and she wrap around each other as if he was squeezing the eggs from her. He breaks for a momment, picks up the few eggs, places them in the nest as the female hovers waiting for him to get back and continue. When they finish spawing, he chases her away and will flair and attack her if she comes near the bubble nest that he is now defending and caring for. You should remove the female at this point.

Depending on temperature, the eggs hatch in 2 - 3 days, and the 'wrigglers' begin falling out of the bubble nest. they are very small, a tad bigger than the comma in this sentence. He picks them up and replaces them in the nest. They do that for another 2 or so days. Then the fry absorb the rest of their egg sack, becoming free swimming and begin looking for food. The male becomes fustrated trying to herd them together and will very soon begin eating them.. So as soon as they become free swimming, immediately remove the male.

Begin feeding newly hatched baby brine shrimp. About the only food that the baby bettas can eat, they'll also be eating all the bacteria in the tank - you won't see them unless you have superb eyesight, but the fry can and will eat those, but there aren't enough so you need to be hatching baby brine. I have tried culturing bacteria using rotting lettuce in a jug of water, it can work - but the supply is unpredictable.

Good luck
