Can You Have A Zebra As A Pet In Georgia

Are Zebras legal to have as pets in Georgia?

To be honest, when a species is endangered worldwide, it will be a national law and not a state law that gets you out. Currently, two species of zebra are on the endangered list and most of the others are a bit shaky but steady. I am not familiar with Georgia law on wild animals being domesticated.

The real problem with owning a zebra is that they are not good pets to ride like a horse. Zebras tend to be skittish and nervous, and you'd have unique issues keeping one outside a zoo where experts are able to provide daily upkeep and medical attention. As you probably know, they are native to Africa and not used to the Georgia humidity or American diseases.

The number one problem would be funding.

Can you own a giraffe as a pet in the US?

If you lived in the right climate, had the proper amount of space, the funds to care for it and knowledge to keep it healthy -  You potentially could. The big questions are how would you obtain it.  Is it legal for you to own it to start with? Each state has different exotic pet laws and dictate what you can and can not own as a pet.  You can start your inquiry here by referencing the following: Want an Exotic Pet? Zebra danio and rosy reds?

The minnows would do absolutely fine with your Danios! If you do save them I recommend a quarantine first. Feeder fish tend to carry more disease due to overstocking and handling.
You would do better getting another Panda Cory or two. Cory cats do so much better in groups of three or more.

Zebra danio fin nipping?

Danios should never be in 10 gallons. You may want to take them back to the pet shop and tell the manager that you researched them and you feel upset that a worker pushed 3 on to you (they need 5-6+) and that they can not be in a 10 gallon, (they need 20 gallons at the very least). Explain that to him and ask him to educate the employees better. It does not pay off to be rude, just explain that you can not house them.

They will continue nipping the guppy. They are attracted to the long tail but 3 would be stressed from 10 gallons and a improper group that they are taking it out on the guppy. Please take the Danios back this evening or tomorrow morning. They should be separated for the night. To save your guppy.

Other good tank mates:
>other Guppies: They are group fish although they don't school. It is best to have at least 3. 6 Fully stock a 10 gallon. If you got 2 more males (so no fry will come about) you could add
~3 Kuhli Loaches
or
~3 Pygmy Corydoras
or
~3 White Clouds
or
~3 African Dwarf Frogs

There isn't too many options cause not many fish species can go in a 10 gallon. African Dwarf Frogs do best in 10 gallons.

Also you can add 1 Mystery Snail and/or 3-4 Ghost Shrimp.

Can you keep a hyena as a pet?

Oh dear god in heaven, NO!Wild animals make poor pets, but hyenas make absolutely one of the worst pets in the world.Let’s just start by saying that in most US states this would be wildly illegal. Even if you could get a permit in those states that allow such things, anyone reasonable would look at the request and say “no.” In fact, Florida, which has pretty lax laws concerning exotics as pets, is now considering banning hyenas.Have you ever seen a “tame” hyena in a show? There’s a reason for that. The alleged “African hyena handlers” do not have them as “pets.” These are a group of traveling…call them buskers…not unlike the snake-charmers of India and dancing-bear-handlers of Eastern Europe. And just like those animals, these hyenas are kept muzzled most of the time, often treated with great brutality, often kept drugged, never allowed to go hungry because if they were hungry they would become aggressive, and are not pets, they are simply the way these men make their living.http://www.animalplanet.com/tv-s...The Truth About Hyaenas: debunking hyaena mythsMyth: Hyaenas make good pets. Reality: Although a few people in Africa and Asia find very young hyaenas in nature and raise them as pets, these animals generally appear to be extremely unhappy as “domestic companions” as adults, and must often be kept muzzled at all times so that they do not harm people or property. A muzzle prevents the hyaena from being able to groom itself properly. As spotted hyaenas need several years of practice to become proficient hunters, and as they are deprived of this practice when reared as pets, it is effectively a death sentence for a captive-reared hyaena to be released into the wild. In addition, pet hyaenas cannot be released for fear that they might transfer new pathogens from captive environments into the wild. Upon reaching adulthood, many "pet" hyaenas must therefore be euthanized.See that heavy rope muzzle? That is the only way a hyena can be kept as a “pet.” That muzzle is on the hyena all day and all night except when it is eating. And, they are kept drugged.“Yes, the famed Hyena Men of Africa walk around with them on chains, but they also keep them drugged and never let them get hungry.”On the unlikelihood of hyena domestication. Or: No, you can’t have one.And no, you can’t domesticate one. Not unless you have several thousand years to spare selectively breeding the things.

Can three sibling zebra finches live together if they're all female?

Give them plenty of room and they’ll be fine. They’re flocking birds after all.

What exotic pets can you have in Australia from a legal standing?

In Australia, animals as pets are regulated at the state level. States provide a long list of prohibited exotic animals and these are usually common to all states (one notable exception is that it is legal to keep a rabbit in NSW but not in Queensland just across the border). For instance, in Queensland, the list of prohibited animals (ie. can’t have at all) includes American corn snakes, anoles - all types, boa constrictors, ball pythons, chameleons, dingoes, feral pigs, ferrets, fire-bellied newts, fire-bellied toads, foxes, gerbils, gecko species exotic to Australia including leopard, Tokay and Madagascar, Herman's tortoise, hamsters, iguanas, monkeys, poison arrow (dart) frogs - all types, rabbits, red-eared slider turtles, squirrels, stoats, weasels and wild dogs. I know of one exception which is that magicians can keep a rabbit, but it has to be desexed!Outside these, permits have to be acquired to keep some but not all exotic animals (ie. except dogs, cats, mice, rats, guinea pigs, etc.). For instance, llamas, alpacas, etc. You would need to contact the Dept of Environment or equivalent in the particular state to see the requirements for a specific pet. See Keeping exotic animals as pets in Queensland as an example.

What are your pets' names?

1 dog, a keeshond/shepherd mix - Murphy
2 cats, 1 bratty torti named Olivia & 1 little black cat named Gizmo

All of them from shelters :)
Right now, my pets are like my "children" and I probably treat them better than most parents treat their real kids. And they all get along so well, the 2 cats groom each other...And there's nothing better when all 3 of them lay on top of me. I'm so crazy about all of them and I definitely want more pets. Animals are so much better than people!

I'm so happy someone finally posted this question. This is one topic I could go on and on about...

If I raise a lion as a pet since its birth, will I be 100% safe?

The respect you give, is the respect you get… people tend to jump to say its instinct why animals attack owners but we don’t know how those animals are treated when no one else is around, circuses for example… lions are trained with whips which annoy them, don’t you expect them to want to compete for alpha if you try to make them feel like your slave? I’d probably eat you too if you caged me and don’t feed me enough, my advice for owning big cats, bears and wolves:make sure you can feed them enough before you get themif you aren’t a strong person to handle the play when they are bored, get a house catgive them a large space instead of a cagedon’t try to be the dominant one, you will be challenged, instead give and earn respectdon’t treat them special only when other people are around, they do have feelings and enough “common sense”study their behaviors… know when they want alone time, a lot of attention and when they are hurtand for what you asked… no, you wont even be 100% safe from a child you raised

Can you own a kangaroo as a pet?

In some states in the US, and one state in Australia. It is legal to own a pet kangaroo in Victoria Australia, but not legal in any other state. In other states they can be owned with the right licences, but not as pets.In Victoria, the kangaroo cannot be obtained from the wild, but must be instead obtained from a sanctuary or a farm, but can be owned as a pet with an exotic animal permit. In the US it depends on state laws. You can legally own a Kangaroo without a permit in Wisconsin, South Carolina, or West Virginia. South Carolina and West Virginia only require permits for wild animals native to the state e.g., coyotes, so there is no restriction on kangaroos; some municipalities would ban them, however. You would need a permit for Idaho, Nevada, Illinois, Maine, Ohio, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Texas, Wisconsin, or Washington. In Vermont you can only own a kangaroo (or any other exotic pet) for educational purposes with an exotic pet license. For example, if you set up a kangaroo exhibit for children, you could keep kangaroos that way.In California it is illegal to own any exotic animal. Some parrots are banned under this. California has the strictest laws regarding this in the United States. There are even kangaroo sellers in the US like:Buffalo Hill Exotics - Contact UsFor the record, no I don’t own a kangaroo. I took my picture at a sanctuary outside of Brisbane while on a road trip.
