Have you ever experienced the wind helping you across the street?
Grand pa...you very badly need to go on a diet! So do I, before you start blasting me...maybe we should go on one together? Now daisymae...I wasn't always fat. As you can see in the pictures I have posted on the other site. Back in about 1985, when I wore size 7 clothes, I had taken the opportunity to go shopping at the store just across a huge parking lot from my apartment building. When I went over there, a light rain was falling, and an arctic wind was picking up. Just over an hour later, I was struggling home with four full bags of groceries hanging from each hand when I stepped out from the protection of the store's overhang onto sheer ice. Luckily for me I didn't lose my balance at all, so I didn't fall, but I WAS sliding along towards the intervening roadway without any control over course. And when I made it out from behind the building's protection I was helped along by that cold wind at my back....so much that it was actually managing to push me UPHILL at the store's entrance ramp. This is when I began to panic, because I was coming to just 4 feet of downslope before hitting a rather busy roadway. I am sure there must have been a look of sheer terror on my face when suddenly the soles of my boots were able to grab onto the rougher surface of the driveway, right as it transitioned into roadway, and I finally came to a halt. I had just relaxed from the preceding terror, when I was slammed from behind hard enough to almost knock me into the roadway, and I suddenly had another 120 lbs of woman holding onto my right arm for dear life. With her babbling "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I just COULDN'T stop!" I took a few more moments to swallow my heart back down to where it belonged. Then I said to her, we'll go over the street together when there is a break in traffic large enough to get across safely, and she nodded back at me. So that was what we did. It turned out that she lived in the apartment beside mine, so while she turned one way to go on to her apartment, I turned the other to go to mine. The last I saw of her, she was disappearing up the road clutching onto the fence that ran beside the sidewalk, and I proceeded up the grass verge bordering my apartment's driveway. All in all I would say that I was blown maybe 60 feet by that wind, on that ice and it was one of the very few times in my life that I have ever succumbed to sheer panic.
Can you have strong sustained winds with no gusts or vise versa and why?
you cant have sustained gusts becuase then it is a sustained wind, the dependency is the movement and sharpness of the pressure barrient.
The wind profile improves further from the ground. Think of a weather pattern that produces a sustained 20 knot wind, excellent conditions for power generation. The effect is noticeable on tall observation platforms; a steady breeze on the ground may be a strong wind a few hundred feet in the air.A stream provides an analogy. At the edge of the stream, adjacent to the bank, the current may be weak and irregular compared to the steady and rapid flow in the center.Higher power generation per turbine allows fewer turbines to reach the same capacity rating. Within limits, this reduces the capital cost for the same size facility. Taller wind turbines may also enable installations to harvest the wind at various heights. Wind slows significantly when passing through the turbine—that is, of course, the source of the energy that is converted into electricity. This effect limits the density of turbine placements. But the localized slowing of the wind at 90 meters may have very little effect at 40 meters, and vice-versa, so higher density may be achieved using a mix of mast heights. This becomes important where space is at a premium.Taller masts have a downside. The wind drag from the turbine is located further from the foundation, producing a longer lever. For this reason and others, the structural demands are much greater. At some height, the improved wind profile no longer justifies the added structural cost.

How many fatalities does it take to convince and Engineer to improve building frames?
There are relatively few fatalities like this in the grand scheme of things. And even though lots of buildings are meant to withstand only 75mph (your example) many can deal with large sustained winds and even higher gusts. It is a matter of cost verses risk. Why design a building for the 99% when there is little or no chance of those winds being encountered. And all building techniques have their weaknesses of course like in wildfire areas when rebuilding people have a choice. Build their homes out of tinder (wood) or build it for more expensive but out of stucco or concrete (which doesn't burn down). In the short term wood is cheaper but in the long term it is more expensive. It doesn't matter how good a building is engineered but it matters how it is maintained. If you don't paint a house, keep it dry and bug free I will be you it will collapse. Over engineering can also lead to problems. Engineers aren't the problems, they are given a building that needs to stand up to certain loads and it does. The codes are flawed and no so much flawed in as much a calculated risk. I think the real question here is who has saved the most lives. Engineers have with three simple things, firstly refrigedration, secondly transportation, thirdly a telephone to call a doctor with.

topography have a strong effect on the climate of one area. topography can resist the extreme cold winds and keep the backward area safe from these winds. the air pressure is always low the higher we the cooler it becomes. so the topographic areas have always the cooler environment and u can also say the cold climate on the polar areas. topographic barrier can also prevent the sunlight t reach on the ground
My grand paw just died and last time i saw him i wasint that frindly y do i feel horibal?
I am so sorry for the lost of your grandpa.Is ok to feel the way you are feeling right now.You are not at peace because you think you was not very nice to him last time you see him before he died.Life is like it is.And is not your foult ,is about realshionship,concerns,love,care and best wishes we argue as family most of the time. Be at peace,and think ,if we all knew the date,day and time people,friend ,family and loved ones dearly to us were going to died -we would all be fake people...we would not really express how we feel or how theyre actitude sometimes hurts us,and inpact us in our daily life around them .Is ok,you sound repented.I am sure you grandpa understand you,even if he kind of upset you the last time..and each other huts each other feelings..Is only human. Go to his resting place by your self and have a talking with him,as as if he was alive...what will you wanted to tell him before he go.And ask him for forgiveness and also forgive yourself...and tell him you want to forgive him aswell. Talk to God and ask him to show you the way how to let others help heal your wounds ...Be bless .An be brave..Just remember the good times...at least try hard...and alowed your self to grieve the lost of your grandpa,and grieve for the way it end it -you can not change but reconsiliate to your higher power,your self and your grandpa even douh he is anymore phisically around,he will always be there close to your heart.I sure he was proud of you no matter what,and vise versa.good luck
