Yes, I would think it would be doable but tight. You would bring home around $1200 a month after taxes. You would have utilities, but you could get on levelized billing so you would know your monthly payment.

Estimates: Electric bill $200
Gas heat $100 Depends on size of home
Water bill $30
Homeowners ins. $40
Garbage pickup $15
Internet $30 Depending on server
Home phone $30

Total bills would be $455

Leaves $545 for food/misc bills

Can I live on 10 dollars an hour?

It depends on WHERE YOU LIVE and How you want to live.In the USA for $10 an hour you will be sharing a cheap apartment with at least 1 and possibly many people. You will be eating lots of rice and pasta, if you drive it will be a cheap old beater of a car and most likely your clothing will be second hand.Going out to events will be far and few in between.Eating out will be a luxury. Most likely you will get aid for food with food stamps.

Is driving 37 miles to and 37 miles from my job worth 10 bucks an hour?

I think you're intending to ask 2 different questions here.First question - Is driving 37 miles one-way worth $10/hr?Probably not.Fortunately for you, gas prices are very low right now. Assuming $2.50 per gallon and a 25 mpg car, you'll pay $7.50 per day just in gas costs to drive to work. This does not include the oil changes, tire rotations, maintenance, etc. The IRS gas mileage says the costs is 57.5 cents per mile. If you use that figure, the daily cost is $42.55. If you drive an economical and reasonably cheap car, this figure is far too high. You'll probably end up paying $10 - $15 a day in gas and maintenanceSecond question - Is this worthwhile even though it doesn't pay much?Yes.Congratulations on your first full-time job! The benefits you'll receive add a lot of value to this job. Most importantly, this will help you determine if the health and fitness industry is really your dream. If it is, you're right that this experience is a great way to get your foot in the door. Actually working in what you feel is your dream industry is the only way to determine if it really is your dream. The worst that can happen is that you find out it's not and you can move on!

How can a family live off a $7.25 per hour minimum wage?

I recommend you read the book Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich. She details her efforts to find a job in a low paid service industry (waiting, retail, cleaning etc) and pay living expenses for herself alone (no dependents) and she demonstrates quite heartbreakingly that it is impossible. This is without factoring in any dependents, mind you!! It is a really powerful book and I wish the people who crap on about how “the working poor are to be blamed for their own situation” would read it!!“Ehrenreich concludes with the argument that all low-wage workers, recipients of government or charitable services like welfare, food, and health care, are not simply living off the generosity of others. Instead, she suggests, we live off their generosity:When someone works for less pay than she can live on ... she has made a great sacrifice for you .... The "working poor" ... are in fact the major philanthropists of our society. They neglect their own children so that the children of others will be cared for; they live in substandard housing so that other homes will be shiny and perfect; they endure privation so that inflation will be low and stock prices high. To be a member of the working poor is to be an anonymous donor, a nameless benefactor, to everyone. (p. 221)”Nickel and Dimed

Is it possible to live on 10-11 dollars an hour?

.Sounds like you'll need a 2nd job, a roommate, or both. Just don't turn to the taxpayers...there are ways you can make it work, and should. You may need to relocate to an area with a lower cost of living. A decent 2 bedroom here in FL where I live can be had for well under $800/mo (not counting utilities).

You don't mention income from child support. Whomever provided the sperm that created your child should also be helping you raise it (at least financially).

Good luck!

How can I save for a car when I only make $10 an hour?

You’re making $140 a week before taxes. $560 a month.First off, it’ll be hard to find a decent low mileage Prius for under $8,000. It’ll take you almost two years to save up that much if you put every last nickel and dime into your savings account. (plus a little extra for cushion and maintenance) Even then, I can’t recommend you spending 100% of your income on a vehicle. You should easily be able to find a 20 year old car with under 100k miles for around $2000. You already know you don’t want a car payment. (Don’t spend ten grand on a car to save a hundred bucks at the pump.) You don’t want to work solely to save up to buy a car. You will get much farther in life and quicker if you don’t think its normal to spend tens of thousands of dollars on cars. I know of someone who recently purchased a 1996 Oldsmobile Cierra for $2200 with 78k miles. Not a thing has been wrong with it. Zero car payments and insurance is about $25 bucks a month. Then you’ll have $6000 in your bank account to help pay for community college or start some adventure. You’ll be so thankful you did in 5 years.

How long can I live off 10 dollars?

It is entirely on your intelligence. You can always live on naturally available food from plantations available on land not belonging to any one, you can always take shelter under naturally available dens or create a simple dwelling yourself using stones and mud and tree branches, wear the tree barks and leaves to protect your person, drink water from ponds and rivers! You needn’t even have that 10 dollar!

How much do you get if you make 10 dollars in an hour?

It depends on how many hours you can work each week.If it’s 40 hours a week, which is what most consider as full-time, you would earn gross wages of $400. Of course, there will be some withholding for taxes, so the amount on the check will be less.Full-time workers average 2,080 hours per year. So the annual gross salary for someone earning $10/hour would be $20,800.
