Can You Push People In The Water In Venice

So, are people in their 20s now going to witness the beginning of the end of the world?

I'm going to have to assume that by end you don't mean the annihilation of the planet. My granddaughter is 14. By the time she is a grandmother, the world will be a mess. You will see coastal cities undermine their buildings with hydraulic jacks to keep them above water. New York will become a new Venice with canals and bridges.New Orleans will probably disappear, since it is already below sea level and lacks the granite bedrock of New York.Heat is energy. As the oceans warm up the intensity of hurricanes will dramatically increase.Fresh water will become an increasingly scarce commodity. That's too bad for Canada, who has 75% of the world's fresh water. There are hundreds of possible doomsday scenarios. The 22nd century will be certainly interesting.

In Venice, California, where did the clown above the building on Rose and main street come from?

“Ballerina Clown” is a sculpture by Jonathan Borofsky in 1988. There's an electric motor that once made the right leg execute a slow kick, but it no longer kicks. CVS should plug that bad boy back in. From Borofsky's website: The Venice Boardwalk is full of all kinds of people in all sorts of outfits and the atmosphere is very festive with many live street performances taking place, especially on weekends. This sculpture is an accommodation or resolution of opposites in one. Not only does this image bring the male and female together into one figure, but also, two opposite types of performers are represented: the formal classical ballet dancer and the traditional street performer. Of course, this public sculpture might push the envelope in 'taste', but if you have ever walked the Venice Boardwalk on a Sunday afternoon, you might understand why this figure is right at home.

Santa Monica Pier?

Yes, it's illegal. More imporantly, why would you want to? DUH! (See below)

(CBS) VENICE, Calif. An 18-year-old man was rescued by Los Angeles County lifeguards and treated for hypothermia after jumping off Venice pier "to see what it was like," according to authorities.

Two lifeguards wearing wetsuits lifeguards rescued the teenager around 11 on Tuesday. He was clinging to a pylon in the ocean’s chilly waters when he was found, said Los Angeles County Life Guard Capt. Terry Hearst.

According to Hearst, the man was about 150 to 200 yards from shore. Authorities are not sure how long he had been in the water, but it was long enough for him to have become hypothermic.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics performed various warming measures, then took the man to Daniel Freeman Marina Hospital at 11:49 p.m, said department spokesman Brian Humphrey. The man is listed in fair condition.

Hearst said the authorities are still unsure of why the man -- fully clothed -- jumped into the water off the pier at the end of Washington Boulevard. He told rescuers that he was not suicidal or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

After the jump was reporte, two lifeguard swift response boats and more than 20 ground-based rescuers -- including lifeguards and firefighters -- searched for the man.

The Fire Department was prepared to lower rescuers into the water, but, based on the man's location, a water-based rescue was deemed preferable, Humphrey said.

Humphrey said that the man “was shivering so badly that it was difficult from him to speak" once he was brought on land. "His jaw was quivering so much, it was difficult to understand him."

But the man did manage to get out the words, "to see what it was like," when asked why he had jumped, Humphrey said.

According to Hearst, county lifeguards have rescued about a dozen pier jumpers this year.

"We get these all the time," said Hearst, who estimated that about half of the jumpers wound up being under the influence while the other half were attempting suicide.

The LAPD was summoned to the scene, but Pacific Station officers said the incident was not under investigation.

The same thing happens in Santa Monica. That water is COLD year round. People don't realize how long of a swim it is.

So, do the right thing, and DON'T.

What are the laws on swimming in the canals of Venice?

I always knew it's forbidden to swim in the canals of Venice and that people swim only at Lido beach or sometimes in remote areas of Venice lagoon (more open water), but not near the houses (consider that the canals are the “streets” of Venice and also the sewer.. so you risk your life swimming in the small canals!).Last year there were some professional swimmers having a swimming competition on the Grand Canal and there was an order of the Major of Venice suspending the general law of “no swimming permitted” (Ordinanza di divieto di balneazione nei canali lagunari di traffico urbano) just for them and for the duration of the competition.I tried to find the actual law number that forbids swimming in the canals of Venice but I was not able to find it, probably it's a very old law.UPDATE 2019Recently they updated all the rules of behaving in public in Venice and they started a campaign #EnjoyRespectVenezia (https://www.comune.venezia.it/en...)Now swimming, diving or even tripping in the canals it's fined minimum 500 euros. And they hired 200 new policemen.. so they are everywhere! Good!

What is under the ocean 11000 km meters down what is down there?

there are a few very deep ocean trenches
Giant Squid and a few bio-luminescent creatures that live on the dead of other fish

All those odd photos you may have seen of fish with huge Eyes and very large Sharp Teeth

Why is Co2 even considered bad?

Co2 makes plants thrive which can feed poor third world countries and give us clean oxygen. If the global warming crazies are right it will melt all the ice giving us more water and freeing up all the land in Canada and Russia for people to live on. More food, water and land is a bad thing?

All the myths of global warming like sea level rise have been proven to be false so why do we care if it's one degree warmer? Most of the Earth would be better off a little warmer anyway.
