How do you start a personal fitness/fitness training business? Do you need a lot of workers?

No you don’t need any workers, in fact it is smart to start with yourself. That way your not dividing up the profits between multiple people. It’s best to wait and hire when the company is financially established.Working at a “big box” gym can be a great start to a fitness training business because the client base can be loyal to the trainers as oppose to the gym.For instance, lets say I start out selling personal training at a big box gym. I am six months into the job and have 15 clients. I give 15 sessions per week (1 per client). The club charges $100 an hour, of which I make $50.In an ideal world I’ve built rapport with each client to the extent that they will follow me to my own training facility. Instead of charging the same client $100 per session, I could charge them $250 per month in a semi private training model. The semiprivate model makes it more affordable for the client and better for you. Why? Well, a 3,4,5,6 to 1 client to coach ratio makes fitness scalable. Instead of training 1 person for $100, you can train multiple people for a fraction of the cost. Impacting more clients ultimately means more clients for you.Working as an independent contractor at a big box gym has it benefits as well. With it you are able to manage your own schedule, set your own price points, have the access to the gym’s equipment, and have the flexibility of being your own boss. The downside is that you pay for insurance costs and have to generate leads on your own.Working at a “boutique” facility, on the other hand, makes it much more difficult to develop a client base. The clients at a specialized facility are given more personal attention by the entire staff. Many boutique facilities work in a semiprivate format already. This creates a scenario where the client is loyal to the entire business - not just one of the trainers. One book you’ll want to read is Ignite the Fire by Jon Goodman. It is an excellent resource on how to get started in the fitness industry.

Chp physical training?

What Jenny said sounds right for acceptance to the Academy, this below is what the CHP Academy website gives you an idea of how to train pre-academy to pass their physical training requirements:

"Physical Training

This is the most challenging phase of training for most cadets. You will need to report for training prepared for a strenuous conditioning program. The Physical Training (PT) Staff will motivate you to push your body to its limits and beyond. You will be expected to pass a variety of Physical Fitness Tests and the Physical Performance Program Test.

To prepare yourself, you should be involved in some form of strength training program. A circuit training program is advisable. You should also be running at least 3 miles, 3 times a week, at a 9-minute-per-mile pace. You should also be able to perform 50 sit-ups, 50 push-ups and 4 pull-ups prior to reporting to the Academy. This will ensure that you meet the minimum acceptable level for incoming cadets."

It is no cake walk but you don't have to be an Olympic medalist to make it through either.

Do you get college credits for being a certified personal trainer?

Community colleges sometimes offer both college classes and vocational programs. This might be categorized under either depending on the level of the classes. My guess is that they are offering this through a vocational program. That means it counts towards a vocational certificate rather than a true college degree. The community college might still refer to the vocational certificate as a "degree" so be sure to ask it it will transfer to a 4 year college. If the answer is no, then it's not really a college program. You might still want to get the vocational certificate "degree" though, if it will fulfill your career goals. You can get guidance on this from the community college's advisers.
