Can You Recommend Me Biology Ecology Research Ideas

Biology research paper topic? (5 pages)?

9th grade biology research paper. It needs to be 4-5 pages in 12 font. it can be about basically anything; genetic disorder, plant, animal and ecological role, or ecological issue. I am more interested in the plant or animal topic idea, but i have no idea what. I just want something interesting that i will have a lot of information to work with. (5 pages is a lot for me) oh, and if i choose a plant or animal it has to be a specific species of that plant or animal. please, i am willing to take any ideas! thankyou!

What are some recommended biology books?

Step 1 - Start with Campbell’s Biology for a fundamental understanding of the living world.Step 2 - Then go for Albert’s Molecular Biology of the Cell, it will give you a clear idea about how a cellular system worksStep 3 - Then learn about the chemical principles of the biological systems from Lehlinger’s Principles of BiochemistryStep 4 - After learning Biochemistry, you should focus on the complementary way of understanding life called Genetics…..Start with Pierce’s Genetics or you can opt Griffith’s Genetics(a bit advanced)Step 5 - Molecular Biology by Watson or Gene XII by Lewin (advanced)Step 6 - Principles and Techniques of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology by Wilson and Walker (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)Step 7 - For Recombinant DNA Technology go for Primrose’s bookStep 8 - Bioinformatics by David W. Mount + take a free/paid online course on Bioinformatics from edx/coursera/udemy etcStep 9 - Learn Statistics and Probability from Khan Academy/any other sources (It is necessary)*****Simultaneously learn fundamental principles of Physics and Chemistry and learn some maths and coding languages (Python and R is highly recommended)These above-mentioned books are highly recommended for understanding the core concepts of Biology,If you want to explore different fields of Biological Sciences, here’s the list (I’m mentioning only a few of them cause Biology is a VAST subject)Microbiology by Brock or PrescottKuby’s ImmunologyGilbert’s Developmental BiologyGuyton’s Human PhysiologyEcology by E.P, OdumAlcock’s Animal BehaviorEvolutionary Biology by RidleyNeurobiology by Delcomyncantor and Schimmel biophysical chemistryFlint’s VirologyPlant Physiology by Taiz and ZeigerAnimal physiology (Pearson) ……and the list goes on and on…… *****Apart from textbooks you should also read these amazing books written by some of the greatest scholars…..1. The double helix by James Watson2. What is Life by Erwin Schrodinger3. The Selfish Gene by Richerd Dawkins4. What mad pursuit by Francis Crick5. Life on the edge by Jim al Khalili6. The origin of species by Charles Darwinand many more……ALL THE BEST

If you had the chance to research any topic in biology, what would it be?

I have lots of ideas for research I would like to do. I had a list! Now I keep them all organized in an Excel spreadsheet, with my hypotheses, expected results, justifications, and required collaborators listed among other things. If I get a good idea for a project, I write it down and add it to the spreadsheet later.Sometimes I take projects off the list, either because someone else already did it or I realize it’s not a good topic. Occasionally, though, I get to take a project off the list because I did get the chance (time and funding) to study it and finished the project! It’s wonderful being a research biologist and getting to solve the puzzles I want to and work on topics that interest me, assuming I can find funding to do it of course. I love the independence and chance to discover things, and get paid to do it. And I love crosding things off my many to-do lists! If you are excited by the idea of studying topics in biology of your choosing, then a biologist is the job for you! Go to college, then get a PhD in a field that interests you, and continue from there!

Biology Argumentative Research Paper Topics?

Well I feel like many of the "argument" aspects of biology have to do with biology. Stem cells are a good topic.... if you don't mind ethics you could also do:
1) cloning
2) organ donation and transplantation
3) this is more specific... but which species concept is the most correct to do (if you don't know what they are look up Biological Species Concept, Phylogenetic SC, Morphological SC, and Ecological SC)
4) you can compare the punctuated equilibrium and gradual evolution concepts (which is more true for how evolution occurs)
5) this one is a little silly but you can argue if viruses are living or nonliving organisms (I don't think anyone agrees on that
6) you could pick any number of traits and argue the amount of genetic vs. environmental effects
... that's all I can think of right now... I'm sure you could find more though ... Good Luck!!

Ideas for an Ecology lab project?

HEllo
Please let me know about any relevant ecology research projects you have done or is a good idea to do in about a 4-5 week period in a lab environment. It can deal with plants or water ecosystestems.

Any ideas would be helpful! Thanks

Help with this AP biology (Ecology) essay question?

The Brown-headed Cowbird is a stocky blackbird with a fascinating approach to raising its young. Females forgo building nests and instead put all their energy into producing eggs, sometimes more than three dozen a summer. These they lay in the nests of other birds, abandoning their young to foster parents, usually at the expense of at least some of the host’s own chicks. Because of their nest parasitism, they are not favored birds, and in areas where they threaten the nesting habits of endangered species, brown-headed cowbirds are often trapped and removed.

Dodder is classified as a member of the Morning-Glory Family and is especially destructive to alfalfa, lespedeza, flax, clover and potatoes. Ornamentals attacked included chrysanthemum, dahlia, Virginia-creeper, trumpet-vine, English ivy and petunias. Dodder is particularly troublesome where alfalfa, clover and onion are grown for seed because dodder seed is difficult to remove from the desired seed crop and can be spread with infested seed. Water, minerals and carbohydrates are absorbed from the host through haustoria that penetrate the host's tissue.

Ecology club project ideas?

I like ideas that can search as a learning experience and even maybe a research project.

It all depends on what the people in your club like and what are the available environment around you. If you live near the woods this is great for doing a basic survey of plants that grow, like is a certain tree's population decreasing or increasing? You can do a survey and count how many are in a given area and where they are growing such as proximity to certain plants. You can also tie in a nature walk, finding sassafras or blue berries etc eating dandelions. :D

Is there an invasive species around your area that likes to grow and crowd road sides? You can easily call up your local college and ask if there's anyone in the ecology/biology dept doing such a project, if so, would they like to Sponsor or like the help of your class. Trust me professors and researching grad students LOVE LOVE LOVE extra hands on anything they do, either from field collection to seed counting to data entry and analysis. (yes math and statistics are part of ecology too). If you're lucky you can be entered in some kind of contest and possibly get scholarships!

If you are near water, you can do a diatom survey, go visit different places and collect water and bring it back. If you have a centrifuge you can gently centrifuge your water samples and pipette the diatoms and other microscopic critters onto a slide and observe them under a dissecting scope. Its also fun to take a picture of what you find but putting a camera by the eye piece. You can also learn about their preferences. If you collect water from particular site, you can add particular nutrients to see what what happens to the population in your water samples. Some are sensitive to water motion, mixing the water every few hours or every day may alter the population in your bottles. Temperature, pH, salinity, mineral content, light etc.

You could even investigate seed banks and microhabitats (maybe replicate them)

SO MANY, use the web to check out existing research in ecology and try to do a smalls scale version.

Biology: please give me an idea on my paper topic !!!?

an invertebrate structure or group of structure in a single species or group of species, the funchtion of the structure(s) and the importance of teh structure to the evolution of the species and survivalof the individual.......>< please help me choosing a topic. Thanks a lot
