Can You Replace The Hood

Do I have to replace my dented hood?

So, today I accidentally forgot to take my car out of drive when I parked, and drove into a truck parked right in front of me. Luckily, no damage to the truck, but I put a good size dent in my hood. I know nothing about body repairs, so I was hoping for some feedback.

Here is the link to the pictures of my dent:

As you can see there is a dent up the middle of the hood, as well as the front. So my questions:
Since I know that hoods are designed to absorb energy in an accident as a "crush zone," does this mean I will have to replace the hood, or can they repair it? If so, any autobody gurus out there have a rough gues-timate as to how much it will cost to repair. The car is a 2010 Nissan Altima Sedan

How can I replace my hoodie string?

If the shoe lace is long enough, it should work well, although if the material is not as thick or is more silky than the original draw string it may tend to slide out more often so you'll have to be careful of that. To make it easier to thread through you can put a large safety pin on the end of the shoelace so you can feel it better to lace it through the hoodie. Good luck, and very creative idea!

How do you replace your brake lever hoods?

The only 'brake lever hoods' I know of are either around the lever that operates the handbrake, (the one that pokes through the brake backing plate behind the wheel) or alternatively, the gaiter around the handbrake lever between the front seats.(It's not really correct to call the latter a 'hood').So, which one do you mean?Usually, to replace the former, you jack up the car, remove the wheel & then simply remove the handbrake cable from the lever where it pokes through the backing plate.  Then, remove the old hood & replace it with a new one.  Re-attach the handbrake cable & you're good to go!However, if you mean the handbrake gaiter between the seats, you usually remove the plastic sleeve that forms the handle (slide it forward), remove a few screw from the centre console or unclip a trim piece or two.  This usually releases the bottom of the gaiter.  Then slide the whole lot off the handbrake lever.  Replacement of the gaiter is the reverse of the removal process. The actual process will vary between different car makes and models, possibly by quite a bit.

Is DIY car hood replacement possible?

I have a large dent in the hood of my 1997 saturn. If i purchased a hood seperately from a wholesale place somewhere, is it possible to replace the hood without giving your car to a mechanic?

How Long Does it Take to Replace a Hood and Front Bumper and Paint it ?

Depends on the vehicle of course but the hood and bumper need to be prepped, painted, and cured so expect to wait a few days...

The auto body shop says if they replace the fender and door, they also have to partially repaint the hood and rocker panel to blend the paint, even though they are not damaged. Is this justifiable? The car is just one week old, built in March 2018.

Yup, this is standard practice. You could skip it, but the colors won’t match.Body shops cannot use the same paint techniques that are used at the factory, and paint has slight variations from batch to batch within a color code. Because of these factors, you can’t just repaint a panel and assume it will match the factory-painted panel adjacent to it.

Can I replace the Mercedes-Benz hood emblem with the 3-point Mercedes Star ornament on a new 2018 GLS?

It might be possible because the hole where the small flat Mercedes roundel fits is the same hole the standing 3 pointed star fits on the C and E Class. I need to ask why you want to do this. I am a fan of having the standing star on other Benz models and wish they used it more but it’d just look stupid on the GLS especially because you have a massive logo just below it in the grill. The standing star doesn’t suit an SUV imo. Bentley doesn’t even use it on the Bentaya. They showed a Maybach SUV concept with it and it’s one of the ugliest car I’ve ever seen (The front and interior is fine tbh but the rest of is it horrid)They took the front of the Maybach 6 mashed it together with the middle of a S Class Sedan, slapped th back of a S Coupe then raised it up to the height of a GLS. But my point is as you can see they have a different grill so the star doesn’t look stupid. Overall I don’t think a SUV should have the standing star, it suits the sedans much better. If you try and put the star on your GLS it’ll look something like this. This is a CLS. It doesn’t come with a standing star but this person fitted it where the roundel fits. As you can see he can’t change the grill because they don’t make one to suit the badge and now it just looks stupid because there’s 2 badges. If you really really want the badge on the GLS then wait for the next one. The next version will also come as a Maybach so then you can change the grill for a Maybach grill and fit the badge (assuming the use the standing badge on the Maybach version)

Can a tailor replace a faux fur hood on a winter coat? If not, who can?

They can replace just the fur itself as the fur is a separate piece of material. You would be best to pick out the fur yourself and provide it. You can also buy an inexpensive fur hood just to use for the replacement fur that can be removed from the new hood and placed on your jacket. Also try to brush out the old fur first with a hair brush rubbed with a fabric softener sheet. Really check out the reviews for the tailor first before you trust them, things could go really badly and ruin your jacket.

How do I replace the hood hinges on a 95 Ford Taurus, I can't figure out how to access the nuts?

I am pretty sure that there are no nuts that you have to access. If you can see the bolt heads it is possible that there are rivnuts… they may be welded permanently to the hood.
