Can You Still Sign The Back Of The Ups Missed Delivery Slip

What happens if you are not at home to sign the package delivered by UPS?

If it's something you have to sign for, they leave you a note and you have to go to your local UPS store to pick up the package.

EDIT: WTF did I get thumbs down? lol That's the correct answer. Check for yourself: http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resourc...

Clearly says, "Find a UPS location to Retrieve Your Package" Not to mention the fact that it's personally happened to me before.

How can I pick up my USPS package before it is delivered?

It used to be, and to a lesser degree still, that when a package comes in the post office it is delivered right away and if the recipient is Not home it goes back to the post office and a pinkish slip is left at your door so you can pick the package up later. This is still the case but now:With package delivery gaining strength, the USPS now dedicates Saturday and in some areas Sunday to deliver packages.(this insurers that someone will be home) You now have no way of intercepting the package before the parcel carrier heads out with it.You could wait in the post office early in the morning with the post master and when the mail comes in, have him wade through the parcels to intercept the parcel before the carrier gets to it. (You have no way of knowing what day the package will get to the post office, unless you track it) You better bring your ID and proof of address. and the parcel be addressed TO YOU as well. Our you could just wait on your couch and have the package delivered to you.

What if I'm not home when USPS delivers my package?

Unless you or the sender specifically requested that a signature happen at time of delivery, then a carrier will leave the package on your doorstep. There are certain situations that could result in the carrier taking the package back and leaving you a notice in your mailbox:The area is unsafe. If there are hazards that increase risk of injury to carrier.Dogs. I can confidently say that if there is a dog on the property, a carrier may more than likely not deliver. If they aren't familiar with the dog, most carriers don't like to take chances. It's no wives tale when you hear about dogs not liking mailmen.Weather. If the porch is not covered and there is no other secure and obvious location to put the package, then the carrier may take the package back and try again the next day. Some carriers go the extra mile and will put packages in plastic garbage bags and leave it by the door.Area has lots of activity. Carriers may decide to not let the package sit out in the open where a lot of people go through. There may be other instances I haven't included but it always comes back to carrier discretion. If the carrier doesn't feel like it's in either their best interest and/or the customer’s, they have the discretion to not deliver. If you feel you could fall into one of these categories, you can always talk to the carrier on your route to accommodate making sure your package gets to you.

Does USPS deliver mail and packages to PO Boxes?

Post office boxes are a major location for receiving mail in the United States. For some people in certain rural areas, P.O. boxes are the only option for receiving mail. For others, they are a convenient choice, perhaps because their business is located near a post office. But receiving your mail in a post office box comes with certain disadvantages, because not all mail can be delivered to a post office box.Anything sent via UPS cannot be delivered to a post office box. UPS requires a physical address. According to the UPS website, "We do not deliver to P.O. Boxes. If a shipper should use a P.O. Box address, the recipient´s telephone number must be included on the label." The phone number allows the UPS driver to telephone the recipient and arrange for a home delivery.Related Products and ServicesService Info TabLarge PackagesMany packages are just too large to fit in a post office box. In most cases, as long as the package was sent to the P.O. box address via the US Postal Service, the package will remain on the premises of that post office for the recipient to pick up in person. Generally, a slip will be placed in the recipient's box indicating that the package is being held. In some cases, the sender of a particular technological product, like an i-Pad or i-Phone, will not deliver their products to a P.O. box address.Signature RequiredWith certain legal documents and other certified mail requiring the recipient's signature, the local post office will, as with large packages, place a slip in the post office box asking the recipient to sign the proper forms at the desk during regular business hours.Time is of the EssenceAccording to the US Postal Service website, while "all" mail classes and types can be sent to a box, the recipient has a limited window -- a required number of business days -- in which to pick up the package or the package will go back to its sender. This creates problems when you are away on vacation. As the U.S. Postal Service website states, "If the item requires a signature, a notice will be left. If the second attempt is unsuccessful, the item will be returned to the sender after the required number of business days have elapsed."

Who can sign for a FedEx package? What happens if someone else signs for you?

Unless the shipper requires a direct signature (anyone who is a legal resident or employee at the location) or and Adult signature (someone over 18) anyone can sign. You, your kids, your neighbor or the courier can take a signed note or simply leave the package without a signature.

What happens if you miss a UPS package?

They should try to redeliver. If they miss you agian, I think you can call in and pick it up so it does not go out on the truck.

How long does the post office store undelivered packages?

Once you receive a notice that your package could not be delivered then you have 15 days before it is returned. Express packages are returned in 5 days. You will receive another notice in a few days but if you are expecting a package & you don’t want it to be returned because you are going out of town then put your mail on hold. We can hold your mail up to 30 days.

I sent a package with signature confirmation through USPS. The person I sent to is telling me that he won't...

Ok, some wrong information being said here. USPS makes ONE attempt to deliver an ordinary Parcel or Letter. Only Express Mail is taken out for a 2nd attempt the next day. FedEx will make 3 attempts to obtain an adult signature.

Even if you fill out the entire delivery attempt slip and sign it, you still must be present to accept the package. You only sign the slip to request ReDelivery on a certain day. You still must sign at delivery that it was received. Again, I think UPS does and I know that FedEx will accept an absentee signature.

To actually answer the question, another answer here had it right. You would have to wait for the package to go Unclaimed, and have it returned to you. You can not "take off" the Signature requirement.

You CAN, however, file a PS Form 1509, Senders Application for Recall of Mail.

http://www.usps.com/forms/_pdf/ps1509.pd...

This would be a way to get the package back to you quicker. You will have to pay postage again to resend. Overall, I think that your addressee is being unreasonable. At the delivery attempt, the notice will be left. 5 days later, a Final Notice is sent along with the date the the item will be returned to the sender. 15 days after the first delivery attempt, the item will be returned as Unclaimed.

I'm sorry, but I just can not imagine someone being so incredibly busy that they will never have a chance to be at home, or can't make a little time to swing by the Post Office in 2 weeks. That's just insane.
