Can You Wear Your Asu To Prom

Can I wear my dress blues to prom?

That is up to you. People will be divided on this; some will feel that it's not an appropriate occasion, or that there are better choices (like a tux).

Personally, I think if that's what you want to do, then you should do it. It's not a poor occasion to wear them, it saves you a ton of money on a tux rental, and you've earned them at the end of the day.

My girlfriend wants me to wear ASU to her prom?

My girlfriend is still in high school and I graduated last year and since then went to basic and now I'm at my National Guard unit. She and her friend want me and my best friend that is in AIT for about another month to wear our ASU's to their prom. Now I've read that you can wear it to formal civilian events and being in the army is a great privilege and I proudly wear the uniform even if it happened to draw unsavory looks. So is this ok? And also the date coincides with a drill date so do I talk to my PLT SGT about this to see if I could leave drill early or about making up the day or what? Any information would be greatly appreciated

Can you wear your asu to prom?

The better question is, why would you want to?

Can i wear my dress blues to prom? I'm a Pvt2 who has completed OSUT.?

1) Learn to abbreviate your rank. Pvt2 is not correct.

2) Yes you can wear it, as long as you are wearing the dress blue version.

IE bowtie, no DUIs on the shoulders and no cover if after 1700.

3) It also means you can not bring discredit to the uniform. No heavy partying. No drinking. No making an *** of yourself. You WILL conduct yourself as a professional soldier while in uniform.

On a personal note, I would just rent a tux. You won't look like a tool that way.

Army can not wear uniforms after OSUT?

The uniform is not to be worn while traveling unless on official orders, such as reporting for a school. It cannot be worn to an event that someone could take that means the military supports their cause, such as a rally or to see a politician speak, It can be worn in lieu of a suit to formal events, but it is highly frowned upon unless the person being honored is/was in the military, IE, you don't wear the ASU to a wedding unless the bride or groom is/was in the military, or to a funeral if the person didn't serve. It can be worn into restaurant/bars, and you can drink alcoholic beverages in it, but it can't be worn into an establishment that is know primarily as a bar. So you can't wear it to the bar to pick up girls, but you can grab lunch in uniform at TGI Fridays.

Some posts wil also have specific rules as to the proper wear of the uniform. For a while, gang violence against service members was so bad at Fort Sill that Soldiers were told to remove their ACU blouse before driving home off-post and to remove any stickers or magnets from their car that could identify them as Soldiers.

The novelty of the uniform wears off really quickly, and you won't want to spend a second more in it than you need to.

What should I wear to an Army banquet?

Wear a nice evening party dress with flats or medium heel. You want to look nice for your date, but you don't want to look provocative. You want to compliment your boyfriend (since he will be in his dress uniform), but you don't want to embarrass him or make him look bad. Be tasteful, and have fun.

If a US veteran wears a uniform, does the design have to be one from their period in the military or can they wear a modern one?

I have an Army Service Uniform (the newer blue one that looks like an Officer's dress blues) while most of my time in the Army I was issued and wore Class A's, (the older green one) for more formal stuff like Boards and more important presentations and things like that (VIPs visiting, PME graduations, when I had to be a witness at a Court Martial, Army Birthday, Balls, etc).I also have a woodland pattern BDU and black boots that was my initial issue, a 3 color desert BDU uniform and Sand Boots, the UCP Army Combat Uniform (with the god awful baby-shit green color and tacky digital pattern that didn't work worth a damn) and Sand Boots, and an OCP Army Combat Uniform with a Multicam pattern and Coyote boots. I was also in a Cavalry unit first so I have a Stetson, plus Berets and Patrol Caps as well as both black and sta-brite badges and such, and two sets of ribbon racks because the ones for the ASU and the Class A differ slightly.I'm out of the Army and have been for 7 years, but if I'm doing something where I need/want to wear a uniform, like reunions, Veteran stuff (Veterans Day parades and such) and VFW or American Legion events, I'm probably going to wear my UCP ACU or my Class A's because that's what I wore mostly in the service.
