Can Your Ear Cartilage Bend

My right ear has more cartilage than my right ear.?

Your right ear has more cartilage than your right? Boy, hate to hear what your left ear is like XD
Okay, I'll be serious. There's no issue. When your mom gave birth to you, some genetic code messed up and did that. And unless that's because of some strange new unheard of virus that alters your genetic code so un-drastically and will lead to your inevitable demise, than there is nothing to fear. Seriously. NOTHING. Again, some genetic hereditary thing that doesn't make much of a difference. If you have trouble hearing, however thats a different story. Do you?

Can your ear cartilage bend?

Like if I wear headphones, since headphones push against your ear, can over time it bend your ear or does cartilage not bend like that and will retake its shape after the headphones are taken off?

Can the cartilage in your ear heal?

I was involved in a fight and got kicked in the outer ear. No bleeding, hearing loss, or any damage to my inner ear, however it feels like the upper outer part of my cartilage is "broken." I have some residual soreness but nothing major. Will this separated "broken" cartilage heal or and i stuck with this separation in my cartilage permanently?

Weak Ear Cartilage?

These are my sisters ears and she litterally cries because she can't tie her hair up in a pony tail or any other pin up because she doesn't like her ears. Her left ear is kind of OK, but still sticks out and her cartilage is really thin and flimsy. Her right ear is really bent down and sticks out alot! Unlike like mines which is sturdy and hard, hers are really flimsy and thin. Would she have to get surgery to get them like this?

What type of surgery would they do? And can she go to a local hospital to get a referral for ear surgery?

Thanks!

Weird question- Can cartilage bend?

Permanently? Like if you held your ear lobe or nose bending it to the right all day could it permanently stay that way a little? Like with facial expressions? Or is the facial expressions thing a myth?
I'm just curious haha

Why do we have cartilage in our ears instead of bone?

I'm not entirely sure but could be because of evolutionary reasons. Cartilage is a unique type of tissue that's a lot more flexible than bone. A lot of the other animals use their flexible outer ears for sound localisation. Dogs, cats, bat can all move their outer ear/auricle in different planes for spatial recognition of sound.Maybe our ancestors used to have such ears as well. So the presence of cartilage could just be an evolutionary remnant. Much like the appendix or coccyx.

Why does the cartilage in ears bend but bones do not (both are connective tissue)?

Simply because the cells that make them are differentYou see all the reasons, all the answers, all the mystiques that are there in our beautiful body are all virtues of the cells that make themThe cells in your stomach know how to read the code for producing hydrochloric acid which thankfully the cells in your eyes or your mouth dont knowSo, similarly, osteocytes make up the bone which deposits a hard tissue “bone” what we call it that are deposits or calcium and phosphateHowever cartilagenous tissues have the constituent property of flexibility just like rubber had but wood doesn't. You can relate it to this in such a manner. Because the things theyre made up of are differentChondriocytes maks up the cartilage. And yes both are connective tissues, just like blood and muscles and lymph.Hope this is helpfulRegards :)

Does getting your nose pierced hurt more then your ear cartilage?

It depends on needle or gun.
Only go to somewhere that uses a needle.
Ask for a bent bar NOT a straight bar and DEFINITELY not a ponytail bar. Straight will fall out and ponytail is extremely difficult to remove, should you ever want to change the stud.
Pinch the side of a nostril hard. Feel that? That's what it feels like. Your eyes tear up but then you don't feel anything else.

Is it normal for my ear cartilage piercing to get irritated after having it for six months?

Thanks for the A2A. The problem with cartilage piercings is that they're a little finicky in healing. It can take a cartilage piercing anywhere from 4 months to 12 months to heal, sometimes even longer. As said by Paige Lauren , check your piercing for any signs of infection. Infections there really do have the potential to get really nasty really quickly.Aside from this, what kind of jewelry are you wearing? Is it a labret/barbell or a ring? Most of the times, piercings that are healed with a ring tend to take a little longer to heal, as the ring can move around a lot and cause irritation. (In this case, it might be a good idea to switch to a labret or barbell stud)The initial jewelry that comes with a piercing is often not that good. Did you resize (switch to a shorter stud) yet? If not, you might want to get it resized. A bar that is too long moves around in the piercing and is easily knocked around etc, which will also upset your piercing. If you can, get yourself some body jewelry made of implant-grade titanium or surgical steel. Some good brands are Anatometal, Industrial Strength and Neometal. Also, some people say that cleaning 2-3 times a day is way too much for a piercing that's several months old already. See if lessening it to a sea salt soak or a shower a day works. (My cartilage piercing at 4 months old only got a daily shower and its mostly healed now!)Good luck!
