Why are old messages unread even though new messages are marked read on whatsapp?
This is a trick.Case 1 : When you send messages through WhatsApp other person gets the notification. She/he can easily see 4-5 messages in her/his mobile phones notification bar. If they have seen those messages and if they turn off the data or wifi and then simply delete the chat thread you won't see those blue ticks. And when you send new text messages and if they are read while being online you'll get blue ticks for them and not for the previous one.Case 2 : If they have turn off the blue tick option you won't get the blue ticks for the messages send during that course of time. You can change this setting through: Whatsapp>Settings>Account>Privacy>Blue ticks option.
