Cant Pick A Halloween Costume

What costume are you going to wear for Halloween?

OH honey.I had an amazing concept, but sadly, this year I won’t be able to celebrate Halloween because my friends will all be away. So, get this, it’s a double dark spooky ooky reveal ok? This is a costume in a costume. My first costume is this:Yaaas madre, it’s the ghost thing from Chihiro’s Journey. It’s an effective costume because: A) it’s literally just a black sheet with a white mask on it;B) everyone knows Chihiro’s Journey; C) It’s spooky! uuuuuuuuuuuuuuh black sheets are scary because you never know if they’re dirtyyyy uhhhhhhhhhhh; But wait, there’s more. My gay ass needs drama, mama. A black sheet wouldn’t be enough to satisfy me.So, I’m at the party (A gay party, obviously, because I can no longer inhabit among the straights). My black sheet obscuring all my sexy body and glamour. I am called to the stage, the voting for ‘Best Halloween costume - 2017” is starting. The host is asking the masses to clap for each costume present, whoever gets the louder reaction from the public gets the crown.I want that crown girl, I’m the spookiest person in this gay coven.I’m not going to lose to some cheap ass 3 dollar vampire mask. This isn’t Twilight. Not on this time and day, no sir.The host approaches me, the public goes insane, they love a mask that pulls on their nostalgic strings. But wait- What’s this? I’m spinning. Everyone is flabbergast. “What is he doing?”As I spin I remove my 1st costume and beneath it:GIRL, I’M BABASHOOK!!!Everyone loses their minds, some people fully die of heart failure, sirens are blasting and ambulances are arriving. Pants collectively and automatically drop to the ground, knees are shaking, girls are sweating, fans are waving in a gay manner, everyone screams, it’s complete and utter chaos.I obviously get crowned, not just because my costume is the best, but because I provided people with what they wanted: drama, mystery, betrayal, magic.Sadly, none of this will come to pass because my friends are assholes and don’t understand the magic of Halloween. I’ll probably just spend my night watching Hocus Pocus.

What are some good Halloween costumes for people in polyamorous relationships?

Thanks for the A2A.Most of the poly parties I've been to have also been kinky/BDSM parties and the themes were chosen accordingly. I actually can't think of any group costumes that I've seen (salt, pepper, and cumin?) with more than two people that were themed. I went to one awhile back where she went as Catwoman, he went as The Joker (in a nurses outfit) and her other partner put on a hat because he wasn't really into costumes. I think most people I know dress up as whatever they individually want and don't try to coordinate. If you wanted to go as group it depends on how many were in the group and how close of a theme they wanted to be. I think comic book team-ups are great for that since they have groups of such varied sizes that fit almost any number of people. You have The Avengers and the Justice League of America, both of which give you wide ranges of choices since heroes often left and joined. Game of Thrones I think will be very popular and really any ensemble gives you that awesome group dynamic. So confer with your partners and pick a theme and then go with. Anything from Friends to Breaking Bad will work, really. Really though, I don't think group costumes among poly peopler as popular as couples costumes are presumably with monogamous couples. Most just pick an individual costume and go with it, unless they are going to a themed party.

Halloween Party - Need to Choose a Costume?

Why do I get the impression your GF is trying to get back at you for some reason. From a male point of view I think seeing your GF in the cowgirl outfit would really be sexy. However, as you describe the indian costume you would wear it is pretty apparent that unless you are a statue you will leave nothing to anyone's imagination by the end of the night. That is pretty embarassing to put it mildly.

The lifeguard costume could be made sexy if your GF wore a speedo swim suit instead of shorts and the tee shirt did not cover the speedo. You, however, dressed in a skimpy little thong string bikini will of course once again be showing a lot but at least you have the chance of some frontal coverage so it may be a little less embarassing than the indian costume.

So for what it is worth I think you should go as the lifeguard and bikini girl with the following caveats. Your GF wears a speedo and a short tee shirt. You have to wear the bikini as described but you must look like a real girl which means getting rid of all body hair and you should also wear some nice smelling girlish scent. Also your makeup should convey a rather slutty appearance and you should wear some sandles with heels instead of flipflops. Furthermore I think you should act as the girl all night and your GF should act as the boy. And since I am sure that like any other guy you like to be able to just give the stings on your GF's string bikini a quick pull and off it comes you will not be allowed to tie any of the strings on your little thong suit in anything more than a simple single bow.

Have fun at the party! I'm sure you two will be the talk of it for a long time.

I need a Halloween costume, but can't afford one:( Help please?

Try wearing all balck clothing, paint your nails black, heavy make up & black hair = Gothic person

Wear a black shirt & skirt or black dress, black leotards or tights, black shoes, braid your hair into pigtails = Wednesday Adams (from the Adams Family )

Try putting your hair into a bun,put a pencil over one of your ears, wear some glasses,of any kind,
dress very proper looking = Teacher

Dress like a Hippy, put a wreath or string of flowers in your hair....
(bell bottome jeans, tee shirt, any type of vest, several strands of beads around neck, wear sandals)

Good Luck and have fun!=)

Is this an embarrassing halloween costume?

I would be embarrassed to wear that too. I don't understand why you can't exchange the costume for something else, quickly. If you have time to be on the computer, than why can't you exchange her costume?

This is her party, let her pick out the costume. I'm not trying to be mean, but it's a little different, don't you think?

I think that I would like it as a joke more than being something you might go trick-or-treating in, or host a party as just having it on, and not saying anything about it. I would go up and answer the door and say, "Oh, hey I just got out of the shower and you here already! Man, I guess I don't have time to change!" It's totally cheesy, which is what makes it weird, to make it funny!

Still, just go buy your daughter a different one! Please! I am a kid so I know how it is to feel stupid in something.

Sorry, and will you please help me with mine?

Should Disney pull their Moana Halloween costume from stores, following the backlash from the Polynesian community?

Okay, so just to clarify for everyone:This costume is from the movie Moana; however, it depicts the character Maui. Maui is – as the article states – an ancient Polynesian demigod. He is not an original Disney character, and he is an incredibly important figure in Polynesian culture and myth.Cultural representation/exchange DOES NOT EQUAL cultural appropriation. We do NOT need to accept cultural appropriation to get cultural diversity in our stories. Representation is when cultures are depicted with dignity, respect and understanding, which usually takes giving the represented culture an active role in the creative process. Appropriation is when cultures are taken without respect, dignity or understanding, especially against the consent of the culture depicted. Now, Moana is not cultural appropriation (although nothing can be said to be a perfect representation). The creators involved actors and musicians who were from the Pacific Islands, and they did extensive research on PI culture(s). It was done with a great deal of understanding, dignity and respect. This costume does not seem to have been given the same amount of thought and care. I would wager a guess that no Polynesian person was consulted.Because of the importance of Maui to Polynesian culture, I would say that every time Disney (or anyone else from outside the Pacific Islands) wants to use his character and/or image, they should stop and think about intention. Why are they using him? Should they be using him?For me, this is not a black and white answer. But I would say that Disney should step back, examine why they made a Maui costume, and consider whether it really holds the same respect they had when making Moana.

Why can't white people wear blackface costumes for Halloween, but sometimes it's OK?

Short answer: because it’s offensive. You say sometimes it’s ok? When? When have you seen ok blackface?Blackface is either deeply offensive or unnecessary.Long answer. It’s perfectly ok to dress up as a character of a different race. There’s no need to paint your face to go along with it. I’ve heard some people talking about “respectful blackface”, but no. Just don’t.Let’s look to the cosplay community for some help and inspiration. I have an example of the reverse. My first time cosplaying, I went to a convention as Juliet Starling. This is what the character looks like.I got this great picture with another cosplayerMe and another Juliet. I think her costume and hair are way better than mine, even if her skin tone doesn’t match the character we’re both trying to portray. See here how it’s very clear in both of our cosplay who was supposed to be. I don’t have the athletic body type or ponytails of Juliet. This girl doesn’t have the same complexion as Juliet. Yet anybody who’s familiar with the character can easily tell who was supposed to be through costumes and props. There was no need for her to paint her face white right? “Whiteface” wouldn’t have added anything to the cosplay because it’s already clear who she’s trying to be.Same as this guy.And this guy.Great people cosplaying as a character who arent their race. And very successfully I might add.It seems like only white people bring up this thing about “respectful blackface” for a costume.Blackface will never be ok because of its history, white people were painting their faces black to mock POC. If you have a favorite character you want to be for Halloween who happens to be black. Great! Go for it. No need to paint your face to get your point across unless you’re going as a monster or clown.Note how this couple isn’t doing white face because the characters Joker and Harley Quinn wear white clown makeup in their source material. The costume, hair, props, etc. will be more than enough to accurately represent the character.
