Car Overheating Leaking Coolant And Ac Not Working.

Car overheating, Coolant and everything fine. Can't find the problem. Help if you can.?

Many things come to mind, a problem with the timing or mixture can cause the engine to run hotter than normal, possibly beyond the cooling systems ability to eliminate the heat. Is the engine performing as it should? If so, I would look at the cooling system itself.

A stuck thermostat would block flow to the radiator. A bad or clogged water pump would reduce coolant flow. Is the radiator getting hot? Does the heater put out a lot of heat? Need lots of clues.

Does operating the heater at maximum help to cool the engine? If so, it is probably the radiator or thermostat.

If the engine is hot but the heater isnt, suspect the water pump. If the heater works but the radiator isnt getting hot, suspect the thermostat.

Is this a front-wheel drive vehicle with the sideways engine? If so, there would be an electric fan on the radiator. Is the fan working? It should come on when the engine gets hot (probably 230 degrees F which is a bit hot for my liking). The fan is important, it may need to run with stop and go driving. If you are out on the open road holding a steady speed, the fan is not needed. Does the engine run hot on the open road? If so, it probably isnt the fan.

Is this a new problem that suddenly occured or has it just been getting worse over time? A sudden problem usually points to a failure (such as the thermostat or fan). Getting worse over time indicates something is probably getting plugged up. Of course, the passages in the radiator will get plugged in time from deposits but I have also had the fins on the radiator plugged with small bugs. I thought my radiator was clogged (internally) because hot water was going thru it but it didnt get rid of the heat. After buying a new radiator, I pulled the old one out and it was totally plugged with gnats which I could not see because the radiator was mounted behind the air-cond condenser.

Car Overheating with full coolant?

From the sounds of it it could either be one of three.

1. Do you have a radiator fan and if so is it running ok? Check the fans to see if there isn't any damage to the fans. If it's electric then is the motor working?

2. Possibly air locks in the radiator. this will reduce the efficiency of the radiator. To clear any air locks you'll have to 'burp' it out. Take the radiator cap off when the engine's cold and start the engine. Give the engine about 5-10 minutes to warm up then turn the heaters on in your car to max. The air will be able to escape because of no back pressure in the system. Watch the coolant level as it may drop. If it does so top up the coolant.

3. Check to see if there's any oil in your coolant. If there is then I'm really sorry but you may have a blown head gasket. The part itself isn't too expensive but if you get a garage to repair it it could cost a lot because of labour.

What happens if a coolant is leaking from the bottom of the engine?

What happens if a coolant is leaking from the bottom of the engine? It means you have a problem and luckily, you have had warning, unlike a tire blowing out.In any event, something is leaking, and should not be overlooked. It WILL stop eventually, when there is no more coolant in the car, not because it fixed itself. Fixing a coolant leak as soon as possible is crucial.Check the level of coolant, refill, and see how long it takes for the level to go down. Most likely you have a - Leaky Radiator Cap which would result in loss of coolant from the overflow tube every time the coolant heats up. The radiator is a pressurized system so if there is a loss of pressure from the cap not fitting properly or if the cap is the incorrect cap for the radiator, the pressure will be lost and a leak could occur. This can be diagnosed with a pressure test of the radiator cap. Refer to your car’s manual for the proper cap and pressure.ORYou have an external leak, and is the type of leak which is most easily diagnosed. When this is the case, the coolant escapes and your car quickly overheats. Most likely you can easily spot where the leak is coming from by looking at it; a split or broken hose or a hole in the radiator are two good examples. Leaks in the water pump, heater core, or engine freeze plugs can also allow coolant to escape. You may also find that you have a crack in the coolant reservoir. Since the coolant in the main system is what is keeping the car engine cooled, it will most likely not cause the car to overheat, but it is in this case that you will see coolant pooling under your car when it sits for long stretches of time. For more see link.Good luck

Car overheating and smoke from the left side of engine near pulleys?

One of the radiator hoses most likely -- you're losing coolant so your car is overheating (coolant coming out of the hose is probably burning off from the hot engine creating the smoke and funny smell)

Get it checked out and fixed ASAP to avoid engine damage

Overheating car!?

I think the cooling fan in my car isnt working, which would make my car overheat, but how do I check the coolant fluid? I have a Daewoo Leganza and couldnt find it in the manual. Also, if it is the fan, do I have to order one from like Japan, or are there places in the US that have or make them? Would I have to order a whole new one, or would I just get the current one repaired? Is there anything I can do to prevent myself from getting an entre new fan?

Car overheated, smoke blowing from AC vents?

This morning I was making my very short drive to work and my temp gauge suddenly went up and the temp light came on, then white smoke/steam started coming in thru my AC vents. I pulled over and turned the car off and noticed a bubbling/ticking noise. Also right before I shut the car off my oil light came on.
Also, I put coolant in the car 3 weeks ago because I noticed it was low. The same day i did that I checked my oil level and it was fine.

Need Help Diagnosing Car Overheating problem 1997 Chrysler Concorde?

Okey I took it to the mechanic a few weeks ago and have had no problem with the overheating. Until last night again.

It started over heating ....earlier I smelled coolant and there was no temp change. Then a few hours later ---at night ---no AC it started heating up. I got to Wal-Mart and got some 50/50...filled the reservoir it was down a little.... got home no problem....hubby took it out later and it started to heat up again.

I have taken it to the mechanic and he looked at it and said there was nothing wrong more then once. He can find no leaks or anything wrong.

I drove it this morning and lo and behold it heated it again! and it bubbled over as well...

can someone tell me what other things can cause this to happen? He keeps checking the cooling system so something else must be causing this.

Thanks!
