Care And Feeding For Three Week Old Kitten

3 week old kitten care?

At 3 weeks old, you need to be feeding her about every 4 to 5 hours. The kitten formula is good. I'm glad you got that instead of giving her regular milk since it's a no-no. So, kudos on that. As far as going to the bathroom, you need to take a lukewarm damp cotton ball (works better than a washrag in my opinion) and rub her genitals before and after you feed her. That will be good enough for her at this age. Because as young as she is and as long as her temperature is normal enough, she will sleep pretty much the rest of the time. Once she's about 5 weeks old, you can start weaning her onto canned kitten food and introducing her to water **don't leave her alone with the water at this age though**. Then at 6 weeks, mix in dry food and each day decrease the amount of canned food until she is eating only solid. Very important note though: once she is eating comepletely solid, she needs to have 24 hour access to fresh water. From here it's smooth sailing and you'll be raising a normal everyday cat.

I wish you the best of luck with her and thanks for saving her!!

Taking care of abandoned 4 week old kitten?

get a bottle if she doesn't seem to be eating enough out of the bowl until she gets some strength back. As far as formula goes, I recommend a powdered kind because it is cheaper for the quantity of milk that you get and you only make as much as you need without ending up with extra that can spoil. Think about getting soft canned food and start putting some in her bowl when she gets some strength back. If she refuses it or doesn't eat enough, mix it with some warm kitten formula and she will likely eat it that way. Also, make sure you take her to the vet to get the vaccines. Get her a littler box and start training her to use it. By 8 weeks she should be eating some solid, dry food even if you must mix it with soft food initially.

Our 3 week old kitten won't stop crying?

Hi, my son found and abandoned kitten about a week ago. It was having trouble breathing and I took it to the vet who said it had an upper resp infection. He gave it a shot of long lasting antibiotics and he is now breathing better. It's been 6 days since the shot. He really only slept and ate since then. The vet said he was probably 1-2 weeks old. Today he has spent a lot of time awake and even though he's eaten peed and had a bm he won't stop meowing. He keeps trying to suck and bite our fingers. He crawls up us and seems like he's trying to nibble on our cheeks and I noticed some teeth poking through. Could teething be why he's acting like this? Any input would be helpful. Thanks a lot!!!
