Career Opportunities In The Woodlands Texas

Is The Woodlands, Texas conservative?

I have lived in the Woodlands 5 years now. The Woodlands is a HUGE melting pot of people from all over the US and the world. There are both liberals and Conservatives but I think the majority are conservative.

As far as the gay marriage / abortion, it would depend on the individual and their own value system. I can not speak for a whole group of people. I know these are things we don't discuss in our neighborhood get together. Like the old saying goes.. religion and politics are things that you do not discuss with neighbors or co-workers.

The schools don't bring politics in to the class room. Their main focus is to strive for excellence and give each student the best opportunity to forward their education on to college.

The Woodlands residence are not allowed to have yard signs because of deed restrictions so I can't really tell you the % of liberals vs conservative. I can only base my information on the people and groups I know.

Rule of thumb...Texas in general is a huge Conservative State

What jobs hire 14 year old in the Woodlands Texas?

At 14, your going to have to do an "unofficial" job like sitting, yard work for a neighbor, ect... When will you be 15? Chick Fillet will hire at 15, and some Kroger stores will too.

Texas is a big state and sorry, the Woodlands is not the richest community in the state. The largest 'master planned community' with some of the biggest investors behind it, yes. Personally - I have spent time researching/driving through it and don't get why people are buying the hype. Maneuvering through all those pine trees is greatly over rated. Banks and stores all hidden behind those claustrophobic trees. Gave you the site / sight as to why it isn't totally independent of Houston. Coming from Central Texas - my greatest fascination is that none of the entire Houston area is zoned and proclaims so many 'lakes' - all look like run off water collectors with decorative sprinkler systems. Again - Texas is a big state and for the money - entire area, in my opinion, can't compete with others. For those of you that love it more power to you. Enjoy your city for what it is.

Is the Woodlands, Texas an expensive place to live?

Well, yes, but you get what you pay for. It’s clean, safe, has great schools and roads. There is a mall, fantastic restaurants, and basically all you need without having to brave the freeways to get to Houston. We lived there for 37 years and raised our kids there. Obviously there are cheaper places but they are not nearly as nice.

Time Warner has changed to Comcast every where in Houston including The Woodlands.
My boyfriend lives in The Woodlands and has a house... he has no problems with an unusually high energy bill! You just have to make sure you choose an energy provider with the cheapest rate for you and where your living! If you live in an apartment they choose your energy provider most of the time, ask them what they average energy bill is... they will tell you. Or go for one that is all bills paid.
We are having unusual amounts of rain right now so I'm having a hard time remembering how much it normally rains! Really its once or twice a week... however right now it's been everyday. It changes all the time really.
There is a lot of stuff to do in The Woodlands, it just depends on what you like! There is a place called Main Event that is like Dave & Busters, only better... there's a great mall with a river that they are making like the river walk in San Antonio! The Woodlands Pavilion has a ton of concert and activities! A few movie theaters, along w/ Movie Taverns. The only thing I have never liked about the area is that things close a lot earlier then they do in Houston! The movies stop showing around 11 on weekends... most stores close, restaurants close earlier, but the bars are open of course.
As long as your no a late night person you wont really notice that!!
It is a very nice area though, all stores and building are hidden behinds trees so sometimes you forget your in the city. It makes it hard to find things sometimes but once you learn your way around you shouldn't have a problem!

I was thinking of moving to The Woodlands, Texas but Augusta Pines seems like it is a better deal. What are the pros and cons of Augusta Pines vs. The Woodlands?

Augusta Pines is at the back of The Woodlands.  It's actually an older sub-division, but there are new housing around that area. It might actually be in a different school area (Tomball ISD, but check).   Everything in The Woodlands is a drive away, 20 - 30 minutes, so for some you are not really in The W.

I need Quickbooks training in the Spring/Woodlands, Texas area.?

I was looking for the same thing you are a few months ago and ended up using a quickbooks tutorial video from intuit to get myself up to speed. Read more about it here: http://quickbooks-tutorial.tumblr.com

Is it worthwhile to live in Texas despite the storms?

People often joke about Texas weather being unpredictable and changing vastly from day to day.I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and we do experience quite a bit of stormy weather from time to time, but never in my lifetime has it caused mass destruction. Maybe a fallen branch or someone's trampoline flying out their backyard, but flooding only occurs in certain flood plains, but nothing is really there anyways.Texas is an amazing place to live. Tons of job opportunities and great people so don't let some sky water stop you!
