Career Options Help

Why are career options important?

while you might be very sure about your career choices there is no surety that this industry/ career might be healthy into the future with so many going out of business so if you also consider other options you are better placed to ensure employment in some other area if this happens.
All industries and professions undergo change all the time and this means that some jobs that we know now, might not be available in the future or other new jobs will open up so you will give yourself a better chance.
Have you researched that your career option actually is employing? Or is just something you love doing.

Possible career options?

Okay first of all, don't choose a career just based on how well something pays. Chances are you'll have to work your way up to getting that brilliantly paid job anyway.

What sort of things do you enjoy? Do you like acting? Singing? Dancing? Drawing? etc.
What are you good at and what are you not so good at?

Have a look at websites like this: http://www.connexions-direct.com/jobs4u/
The 'job families' section is particularly good. You can pick an area you're interested in, for example 'Design, Arts and Crafts' and it gives you a list of possible careers in that family, such as Cartoonist, Graphic Designer, Interior Designer, Toymaker. Then click on the career you're interested in and it gives you lots of information about it like what they do, how much they earn etc.

Good luck!

How can career counseling help?

Life is all about making the right choices – From the clothes we wear to the food we eat, From the phone we use to the things we read, every single day is filled with hundreds (or thousands) of choices. They say we are a result of our conscious as well as unconscious choices in life. So, why exactly is career counselling necessary? Or how exactly can career counselling help anyone? The answer to both the questions is same – With so many career paths and options to choose from, so many schools, colleges and institutes to choose from and ultimately so many directions to go on, only an experienced, professional and insightful career counselor can help you make the right choice. Even today, students are forced to follow the ‘typical’ path or profession in our country so as to get maximum security without any risks or challenges in life. However, this approach quickly fails as every student is different in terms of their mental and physical abilities, aptitude, strengths and weaknesses. Thus, by consulting a career counsellor, parents can better understand their children and allow them to make the right career choices for a consistent, clear and confident future ahead.Career Counselling not only helps students make the right career choice or pick the right course or college, it also enables them to think independently and take the right steps in the right decision. Irrespective of what career choices we make, life will be always full of challenges, hurdles and burdens. An experienced career counselor will guide and motivate a child, student or individual to be prepared for the challenges in life and face them with confidence and self-faith.

I am extremely confused with my career option. Can anyone help me with that?

What do you like? Are you strong willed to go for it? Then go for it.Engineers and Doctors are hatched in millions. So there is no point in going for those in the hope of a guaranteed job. There’s competition in every field, so it essentially comes down to what makes you better than the rest.It doesn’t matter where your interest lies, you can achieve success if and only if you work hard and smart for it.And you WILL achieve it if you’re passionate enough. There’s also the factor of luck that most people talk of, but i believe that luck is just being smart at the right time.Don’t blindly follow the crowd and join some course. Put some thought to it, see if that’s really what you want to do. Few of the ways you can do that isto read more about ittalk to people with hands on experience in that field.Check if the plan is feasible enough for you.Personally that helped me. Good luck pal!
