Cat Has Been Gone For Weeks. Should I Tell Everyone To Give Up

My cat has been gone for two weeks?

well, im at the point where im about to give up, my cat who is our family cat we all love has been gone for two weeks, she was mostly an indoors cat, she was spayed, shes left for a couple days and came back before, but never more then three days
im wondering if anyone else has had a cat that has been gone for along periods of time then came back? i figured shes not coming back, but i have a friend that said she had a female cat that came back after three weeks, so like i said, just wondering. thanks.

My cats been gone for a week. She's extremely smart but timid. Did she go away to die or does someone have her?

I worked for several years at an animal shelter. When people came looking for their lost cat I would tell them.. never give up hope! I had a cat missing for a year. He was finally turned into my shelter. I lived on Maui and my cat was found on the other side of the island from me. I’m sure he hitched a ride (or was grabbed and dropped elsewhere). He survived on food handouts from kind souls. He was skinny and I barely recognized him.. but there he was. A BB pellet under his skin. He never went off our property again. Get your cat spayed and neutered. Have a microchip or an ear tattoo put on. That’s how they get returned to you. Never give up hope!

My cat ran away and I can’t find him. He’s been gone for 3 weeks. Is there any hope he’ll come back?

yes, it is quite possible for him to return. My new rescue jumped through a ripped screen and I was able to live trap her on the very porch she escaped from, a week later. She did not know the area, but was street wise having been a feral from kitten to 9 months. A cat sitter, let an indoor cat outside thinking it would come back while i was on vacation. It did not. It was only a 12 week old kitten. Some neighbors took her to the local shelter, and I found her there, paid the price and got her back. So check at the shelters. Bring a picture of your cat. I had a cat that was missing over a week. I was beside myself. Much to my surprise, we found her trapped in the garage. So check local outbuildings and sheds, where kitty might have snuck in and then got locked in inadvertently. Really, go check your garage NOW. The other thing, is sometimes other people will adopt your cat and the cat is trapped at their house. A friend of mine had her indoor/outdoor cat stolen by a neighbor who was moving away. . . and then there is the fool on this Quorum, who actually took a neighbors cat to a vet and had it “put to sleep”, thinking she was doing the right thing, because “the cat was left outside to suffer in the cold” …I was horrified by this. The cat she euthanized could have just escaped and the owners were desperately looking for her, like you are.

How long can a cat be left alone for? Let's say the owner is going away on a trip.

I recently just went on a 12 day trip to Europe and had to leave my precious kitty alone. Morgan doesn't do well when I leave her alone for a long time. She doesn't get super friendly with other people and doesn't really like them touching her, so I'm basically her only source of love and affection. Contrary to what people believe, cats, while solitary creatures, still need as much love as any other pet. I would never think of leaving her at a cat motel or anything like that, so I usually have my mom stay with her and watch over her. For the most part, she does fine having some familiar with her, but she still pines after me while I'm gone. She'll still eat and what have you, but she's used to a schedule so if I'm not home, she'll go to the door at 10 or 11 because that's usually when I get off work. On the other hand, if I leave her completely alone, she seems to have a really hard time. I don't like leaving her alone for more than a day because I know that she probably gets very anxious being by herself. But really, it depends on your cat's personality. Morgan is very attached - she follows me every where and doesn't even like me taking a shower by myself, so I have to leave the bathroom room ajar so that she can come in and check up on me. She grabs at my feet when I leave the house and is always at the door or in the window looking for me when I come home. Some cats can handle their owner's absence better than others, but my advice for you is that if you're going on a trip, make sure to have someone that your cat is familiar and comfortable with (and that you trust, of course!) to watch them so that they don't get lonesome and are at ease while you are gone. I would not recommend taking them from their home, especially if it's a long trip. Your scent will be all over the house, so it'll put them at ease to be able to smell you even though you're gone and will avoid upsetting them or making them overly anxious.

My cat has been missing for 2 weeks, is there any chance he will come back?

No one can really tell :(
I really really truly hope that your cat comes back.
Try searching again and ask neighbours to check their sheds/garages. Your cat might have ventured in there, and without them knowing they could have shut him in. It does happen :(

Also, make flyers and put around the neighbourhood. Put a picture of your cat and your phone number, it might help if you put a reward on it too :/ Some people are selfish.

If you go for another search, dont be afraid to ask people you see if they have seen him, call his name when you are outside, if he is still around there, he will probably be a bit scared if he's been on his own for 2 weeks and he will probably be comforted knowing your still there.

I wish you very, very good luck!

Mom wants to give away kittens before 8 weeks old?

Actually, they are purebred ragdoll kittens. Not sure what makes you think they are 'domestic mutts'. Charlie was bought from a breeder for $600 and she is a seal point ragdoll, as is the father. We do not own the father, we simply took Charlie over there and they had a little play date. We will be spaying her after the kittens are gone, we just decided to let her have one litter beforehand. It's funny how fast people jump to conclusions.
My mother and I both love charlie with all our heart.

Am I wrong for not wanting to give up my cat?

My husband and I are moving across country. He is already there as
His mom was having some medical issues. We hav been planning to move there for over a year now to help out. Up until a couple weeks ago it was perfectly fine to bring my cats down but as soon as I purchased my plane ticket they are saying I can't have them. They have helped us get into a house that needs some repairs and I am planning to keep the cats there since they are no longer welcome at their house as we need to stay there until all the repairs are done. However I am now being told that I'm selfish and immature because I won't give up my cats especially after they helped us get a house. I love my cats and I know myself and I would be resentful towards my husband and his parents if I had to get rid of them, I am already a little resentful about it as they led me to believe it was ok for over a year and now they say it was a misunderstanding when it has been brought up multiple times.

What can I do if my cat has been missing for a week?

When one of my cats went missing some years ago, I was told to walk in concentric circles around my neighbourhood to a radius of about 2/3rds of a mile. I was also told to visit any nearby wooded areas and walk around them. The other thing was to talk and call the cat’s name, if it knows it. You can also take some food around. This may or may not have worked for my cat, who came home after three days.If you are in the UK, check with the local authority department responsible for street cleaning and refuse collection. They keep a record of all road kill. Also, check with the RSPCA, Cats Protection and any local cat charities in your area. Check with local vets. You can also stick up “lost cat” posters. I don’t know how good they are but I once located an owner using “found cat” posters. If you’re in the UK and your cat is microchipped, the local authority should check any road kill for microchips. Therefore, not having heard from them is probably good news. One other thing is that you could ask everyone nearby to check outbuildings and garages, particularly if they use them infrequently.
