Cat With Weight Loss And Bloody Stool

My cats been losing alot of weight and poopin out blood?

pooping blood or losing a lot of weight are reasons to take your cat to the vet on their own. together, you definitely need to go. Bring in a fresh stool (poop) sample when you go.

One possibility is that he has hook worms, which are easily treated with cheap medication. They could cause bloody stools, weight loss, and increase in fecal volume. He may have a bacterial infection in his gut causing the same symptoms... another simple treatment with medication. Depending on how old he is and what the vet finds, this could be a sign of cancer.

However, the only way to find out is to take him to the vet. They will probably want to do a fecal test, and possibly blood work to check the function of his organs (very important because of the weight loss).

Even if it ends up being something you don't want to treat, if he is losing weight he is suffering on some level. It's not fair to just let him waste away. For his sake, you need to take him to the vet!

Kitten has bloody stool/rear?

Does the stool look normal? If they are eating and drinking well and don't seem to be feeling under the weather you may just be dealing with an intestinal parasite call Coccidia that is sometimes common in kittens. It can be treated with a few different medicines. Call your vet and let them know and they should tell you where to go from here.

Cat is losing weight, blood work is good, thyroid is fine?

My ten year old calico has lost a drastic amount of weight over the past five years, and is now down to a critical 7.4 pounds. She appears to always to be ravenous, but eats a few bites and walks away. She has chronic diarrhea, but has no parasites. All her blood work is normal, including her thyroid (for several years now). Two vets are perplexed.

She does have fish allergies, so she gets no fish products (no tuna, even though she loves it). I've tried different diets, different proteins, and the latest was a supplement added to food that was supposed to help her digest it. She wouldn't touch her food, though. I've even tried baby food, but that gave her terrible diarrhea. She rarely throws up, and is otherwise pretty lively. Her fur is still thick and shiny, teeth good and she's an indoor cat.

Please note before you answer: Her teeth are fine. Her blood work is normal. Her thyroid has tested well within the normal range for years now. She acts ravenous, but then won't eat much. I suspect she's hungry, but has come to associate food with painful bowl movements. Her poor little sides just heave when she's in the kitty box.

Any ideas?

My cat has discolored and bloody poop?

Do not use any over-the-counter drug of any sort.

You need to get to a vet quickly. It might not be anything serious even though there was blood. But on the other hand it could be something life-threatening. He may have ingested something that pierced his intestines. Or perhaps he has a serious infection. Do not take any chances.

If there are no vets open try anyway. Call all the vets in your area and leave messages. Some of them check their messages when the clinic is closed.

And nearly every single vet will have on their voice message the name and number of the nearest emergency clinic.

So do something now if you have not already and either get in touch with a vet or get him to one quickly.

My cat has blood in his feces and he's losing hair.?

He probably needs a once over by the vet....flea control, dewormer, the routine goodies. he is a senior pet, so the vet may give you some preventative care options while you are there

if you can get a fresh stool sample to the vet tomorrow (within 12 hours old.... refrigerate or stick it outside in the cold garage (not to freeze)) so they can run some tests. sometimes there are multiple parasites or bacteria that is present and it needs other meds than the routine stuff.

My cat is losing weight, energy, and gaining appetite since his neuter?

My cat is three years old and we got him neutered six months ago. He was never a very large cat, but he was just kinda thick. Immediately after he was neutered, he looked like he significantly lost weight, but besides that seemed healthy.

Over the last three months his weight loss has started to scare me. I can feel his sternum, ribs, and tale bones, but then his body balloons out and had a bigger belly. Every time I feed him he ferociously attacks his food like he hasn't eaten in weeks. He still drinks water. He was an indoor/outdoor cat but he has lost all desire to go out side or play with anything even his favorite toys when they are sprayed with catnip.

I dewormed him a month and a half ago and he started gaining a little weight and started to seem healthy again, and in the last two weeks he has lost all the weight he gained.

He has been pooping a large amount. Recently it has been taking place in the bathtub and had a redish tent to it like he wants me to see it. I have an appointment for this Saturday, but I don't have much money to do every test possible. any suggestions?

My 9 week old kitten has blood in his diarrhea, what could it be?

Oscillate Wildly was right about taking your cat to the vet. But since you already said you're planning to do that (good for you!), I won't harp on that. But there are other things that could be causing your cat's bloody diarrhea, which are easily treated and aren't quite so scary as the things that Oscillate Wildly mentioned. First of all, just based on what you've written, I actually doubt that your cat has panleukopenia or feline leukemia. With those conditions, there are other serious symptoms such as fever, vomiting, loss of appetite and weight loss. Since you didn't mention those symptoms, I'm guessing that your cat isn't experiencing those symptoms, so I'm also guessing that your cat doesn't have either of those conditions. You said that he came from a household where there were lots of other cats, so I'm thinking that he could be suffering from coccidia, which usually occurs with cats that are kept in crowded conditions with other cats. Coccidia is easily treatable with antibiotics and cats usually recover very well after treatment. Another thing that could be causing the bloody diarrhea is a bacterial infection, such as salmonella or e. coli, which can also be treated with a course of antibiotics. There are MANY things that can cause bloody diarrhea, but I just wanted to let you know that not all of the causes are serious or deadly. I'm giving you a link to a wonderful web site that lists symptoms, causes and treatments. Please take the time to read it. It's very informative and easy to understand, and I'm sure it will probably ease your mind a bit.

And one other thing -- please keep in mind that I'm not a vet, so I can't diagnose conditions with certainty. I can only make an educated guess and steer you to the place where you can get more information.
