What causes excessive shedding and itching in my dog?
Fleas or other parasites is my first guess. The humidity might be a cause.I can't see what is going on nor do I have the ability to diagnose or even guess what is going on.I hate to say see a vet…but I don't hate to say that. Yea, cost, but at least an exam of the pup and questions I could ask but not answer… they mentally rule out this or that. I'd be asking questions until the end of time and still no results…go see a vet with the pupper.
Is there another reason why my dog is shedding excessively besides the change in seasons?
Is your dog shedding only in one spot or is it all over? Hypothyroidism and adrenal problems would be in certain spots. Allergies, hormones, stress, and skin conditions like dermatitis can also cause shedding. If this is unusual for your dog to shed as much as it is, I would suggest at least a call to the vet.

It sounds like a wide variety of issues, so I just recommend seeing the vet, and also keeping us updated. I didn't major in veterinary education, but I did major in health in general, physical and psychological and cognitive health. Can excitement cause a dog to shed?
My sister has three chihuahuas who get excited when they see me.After I pet them I am covered in hair.I tell my sister she should brush them,and she says they weren't shedding until after I arrived,that the shedding is due to excitement.Has anyone had a similar experience?
Why is my dog shedding after a bath?
I just gave my black lab mix, who is 9 months old a bath with oatmeal dog shampoo. I cleaned her real good cause its been a long time since her last bath. When she was dry, I petted her and realized she was shedding pretty good. I got her brush out to comb her and Ive been combing for 45 minutes now and she hasnt stopped shedding. I have like a huge amount of black dog hair in a pile and its not letting up! Im getting worried! ive bathed her with this same shampoo before and this didnt happen!
