Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Beyonce, or Christina Aguilera. Who's your favorite and who's legacy is bigger?
I got to go with Celine Dion. I think everyone knows her and she's unique. Who do you choose? BQ- Which of these singers has been irrelevant? BQ2- Why does Celine Dion have a bigger net worth than all those 4?
Is Christina Aguilera overrated?
i actually think she is pretty UNDER rated. She is much better than Britney and a better person.
Is Mariah Carey irrelevant?
Mariah Carey is still a major influence on singers today. But I think her time is over. Saw some recent concert footage of her and I don't know if it was just a bad day, a health problem, the stress of her breakup with her husband, but she sounded terrible. She couldn't sing her old hits. Her last album sold poorly. Mariah had a great run, she must be very rich, maybe it's time she just stopped and retired gracefully.
Who are your favorite white female singers/artists?
Rosanne Cash PJ Harvey Neko Case Sandy Denny Lucinda Williams Feist Linda Ronstadt Joni Mitchell Laura Nyro
Which are some of the best female singers of all time (language : English)?
For me the best female singers would be:Mariah Carey: Her voice is the de facto musical Cornucopia. From rich, husky lows of an Alto to the sky high whistles of a Coloratura Soprano, her 5 octave range enables her to do it all. Rihanna, when asked about Mariah, quipped that “her voice is an instrument, it’s unreal.” I’ve heard Mariah imitate electric guitars using her whistle register and reproduce any melody in the voice of a songbird. From top to bottom, her voice is more fluid than molten gold, capable of all sorts of vocal embellishments. Versatility, agility and technique: she’s the master of all.2. Whitney Houston: Popularly known as ‘The Voice’, Miss Houston rightfully earned that title when she burst into the spotlight with the richest, most powerful vice known to history.3. Christina Aguilera: Although many would criticize Xtina for her technique, I just love her tone and agility. She indeed is the voice of her generation.4. Barbra Streisand: The greatest in terms of technique, she has maintained her voice the best over the years..5. Aretha Franklin6. Beyonce Knowles7. Minnie Riperton:8. Celine Dion9. Adele10. Tina Turner
In your opinion, is Taylor Swift the best female pop singer of all time?
She might not be the best female pop singer of all time but looking at todays generation and the music we teens have listened to aver the past few years tell me that.Though her voice is mediocre she knows how to use and manipulate it to sound wonderful even without autotuneShe is known less for her singing capabilities and more for her lyrical prowess, I mean she has created many beautiful and meaningful songs like red , all too well, lucky you and the list goes on. She is pretty much the only female pop singer who knows how to pour her heart out via her songs and has a hardwork ethic to achieve perfection and timelessnessFurther more. She is classy, a great role model and a rare sort of a clean beauty who doesn't need pathetic beefs or sexual lyrics/videos to be famous and relatable. She is considered a true artist, so much so that everyone in the industry who is worth talking about is associated to her . It's almost like her friends have her stamp of approval and enemies draw publicity out of her. People not associated to her are usually not famous enough.By far she may not be the best of all time, but her fans, dedication, achievements, hardwork, honors and money say that she clearly is the best we have currently. She is also clearly the most influential singer as well.Vanya Malhotra
Why hasn't Mariah Carey been inducted into the Rock and Roll of Fame?
I don’t think she ever will be. Rightly or wrongly there’s only a few pop/dance acts in the Hall and most of them are women. Donna Summer, Madonna and now Janet Jackson. The first two, as I stated in another post are very influential and really inhabit their best known songs with the force of their personality. Janet…eh…she’s a great dancer, huh?But Whitney’s never been nominated (eligible since 2010) and I don’t think Mariah will be either. TOO pop without enough of a cultural footprint. Both she and Whitney benefited from being stars at their respective labels, being groomed for mass success early on, and given all the promotion and production assistance in the world. They were able to coast to fame early on and I think that feeds the image of them as lightweights. Even Janet stumbled at the beginning.Cher is not in. Bette Midler’s not in. Streisand’s not in. Tina Turner’s not in as a solo act. Judy Garland’s not in and frankly I think she deserves “Early Influencer”-status.I doubt Britney or Cristina Aguilera will ever get in. Neither will Celine Dion or Shania Twain. Pink probably will as she’s shown staying power, and isn’t a cutesy songbird. Beyoncé? *sigh* it will probably happen for her too; like Janet they’ll want to see if she’ll perform. (Probably not. She’ll show up I would wager, but like Madonna, she’ll merely be an observer.)

Who is the best female singer of all time?
In my opinion, Mariah Carey is the best female singer of all time. As Rihanna has said, “her voice is an instrument, it’s unreal.” Unreal is what sums up her voice. She is capable of doing things and producing sounds I would not have thought possible by any human being. She is most famed for the use of the whistle register (the highest part of human voice which owes its name to the fact that the timbre of sound in this range resembles that of a whistle). While some other singers can use this part of the voice, nobody has mastered it like Mariah has. She can do stacatti whistles and can imitate songbirds using whistle tone. She can even articulate words in this part of her range. It doesn’t just end here. I’ve heard her flawlessly imitate an electric guitar using whistle tone (look up her song ‘Oh Santa!’). Because of her dexterity in the usage of whistle tone, the Guinness Book of World Records has named her the Songbird Supreme. While many people think that her voice is ‘based’ on whistle pitch, that’s not true at all. All parts of her range are fab. Her voice is super agile and she can do the most complex runs, riffs and melismas with casual ease. Her ability to ‘riff it out’ is matched by none (not even Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin) thus earning her the monicker “Queen of Melisma”. Her voice type is Lyric Coloratura Soprano which makes it naturally agile.Along with unbelievable agility, her voice is also extremely versatile owing to her vast vocal range, which extends beyond 5 octaves. As Sasha Frere-Jones of The New Yorker said, her timbre possesses various colors, adding that "Carey's sound changes with nearly every line, mutating from a steely tone to a vibrating growl and then to a humid, breathy coo. Her wide vocal range allows Carey to take melodies from alto bottom notes to coloratura soprano upper register.”Many singers including Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Beyonce, Rihanna, Leona Lewis, Kelly Rowland and Ariana Grande have cited her as their idol. Many of them were labelled as the new Mariah when they came out (Ariana being the latest). She, along with Whitney, is what every singer aspires to be. The pinnacle of vocal prowess.
