(e.g. charging a percentage of something that will save them money - 10% of $ 10 M per annum savings is 1 M and a lot easier for the client to approve than asking for a $1 M consulting project).Working in the right sector or industry - you can sell pencils or software and assuming the same skill level one will pay a lot more than the other because of the gross margins.

Always remember, all quad cores are not same unless they are build by same company and have exactly same part number. The cost differs there a lot. Mediatek vs Qualcomm. They sample it!A better brand focusing on better quality will sample 1 in 100 devices (1%), while a cheap brand would sample 1 in 100,000 devices (0.001%). That is additional cost.4.) Customer Service is a major contributor. They, the brands, cover large areas with multiple support centers to assist every customer facing problem in the most efficient way. This counts.5.) Material Used for all internal external part contributes the cost.6.) Marketing cost, Branding and additional margin increase the cost.All these are aspects that help better user experience, performance, sales and support. Hence the cost!
