Chances Of Getting Into Osu

What are my chances for getting into Ohio State?

I’m not an alumni of, or affiliated with, The Ohio State University, so perhaps someone who is would have some insight that I don’t, but I think you have a pretty good shot.Apparently, The Ohio State University has a 55.5 percent acceptance rate. (Google). That’s pretty selective for a big, flagship University, but certainly not that intimidating. Be better than half of the people who apply, and you’re golden.Ohio State University ACT Scores and GPAApparently, the average ACT score is 28, so you’re in the ballpark there. The average GPA is 3.73. You’re way above that.I wouldn’t worry too much about your extracurriculars (as far as actually getting accepted), although more would always help, especially with scholarships and whatnot.Cultivate some good relationships with your teachers, and keep up the good work in school. Maybe join a club you’re interested in, or get a part time job/hobby you can talk about. Of course, work really hard on your admissions essays as well. The Ohio State University looks like a borderline safety school for you. It’s got some great programs, and a lot of good scholars, so kudos on that.

Chances at getting into OSU?

OSU has been increasing their selectivity over the past few years... they harp on each incoming class as being the 'most qualified class ever.'
As a 2nd year student in the OSU ChBe program I'd say your GPA is pretty low. Decent ACT score.. you could probably write something in your app to explain the GPA.
It's really a toss-up. I'd say most likely you'll get sent to a branch campus like Newark, Lima, or Mansfield. I know of students with GPA's >3.3 and with an ACT around 26 that have been sent to a branch campus.
Best advice i can offer you is to get your GPA up. Your nationality will play into it a bit and that will make it somewhat easier to get into OSU.
On a side note: The engineering courses at OSU are no joke. They are by far the hardest classes on campus. Your GPA will prevent you from taking the FEH (First Year Engineering Honors) course, but without a doubt that series is the most accurate depiction of life as an engineer. Prepare now to become an engineering student. I regularly spend 18+ hours a week on engineering homework, on top of homework in other classes. Manage your time wisely and practice good study habits. Prove to OSU that you want to be a student on main campus and that you want to be an engineer by getting good grades these last few semesters.

Good luck

There are three schools called OSU. One is in Oregon, and another one is in Oklahoma. However, the only one you should consider is tOSU.The Ohio State UniversityIf you expect to graduate and get a serious job, you’ll stop wasting your time on social media, and figure out how to solve problems on your own.Can I get into a top school with a 3.0 unweighted GPA (no Cs, Ds, or Fs though) ,3.74 weighted GPA, and a 36 ACT? I've received an 89 in every class I've ever taken. If my guidance counselor explains this, will I have a chance?

What are my chances of getting into Ohio State?

Sounds to me like a pretty good collection of activities, and a respectable academic record.Being from out of state, being black, and being male have nothing to do with whether one is accepted or not. It’s what is on the application that counts. You have made an excellent choice of schools. Ohio State is the third largest in the US, and has half a dozen different campuses. There is an enormous range of student activities and clubs, in addition to a very diverse and excellent educational program. An engineering or architecture degree from OSU will be respected everywhere. It is a pretty selective university. About 2/3 of incoming freshmen are in the top 10% of their high-school class. The middle 50% of ACT scores range from 27 to 31, so you are right in the center of that. The middle 50% of reading/math scores range from 1210 to 1360, so again you are right in the center of that. Seems to me that gives you quite a respectable shot at being part of the incoming freshman class.OSU enrollment is growing very rapidly, from 18,000 new students in 2012 to over 24,000 in 2016. The number of applicants is growing even faster, from 28,000 in 2012 to over 49,000 in 2016. That means the percentage of applicants who are accepted is dropping every year. It has gone from 64% acceptance in 2012 to only 49% in 2016.No guarantees, but I think it is very likely that your application will be well regarded, and that you will be accepted. It certainly is worth your making the effort to apply, and to do a bang-up job on your application. And a suggestion: Give serious thought to joining a fraternity, after you are enrolled as a student. That will make your college experience more enjoyable and will expand your learning opportunities. Plus you will make many treasured, lifelong friends. OSU has 41 active fraternities. I hope you will visit and consider my fraternity, Theta Xi, which is rated as one of the top ten on campus.Best of luck to you. Hope you are admitted, and that you will graduate with honors.

Chances of Getting Accepted to Ohio State after being Deferred ?

by defer, do you mean they allow you to start in the fall. It means your chances are very good. Contact the office of admission, you might not need to re-apply once your deferral was approved.
If you are referring to the other defer then according to their site"Deferred: after an initial review of your application, we have not yet made a final decision. Following the application deadline, deferred applications are reviewed a second time, giving particular consideration to academic performance, the competitiveness of the applicant pool, and the number of spaces available. A final decision is generally made by the end of March."

Help getting into Ohio State University?

Hi Alyssa! Here are five things to keep in mind during the writing process.

1. Do Your Research

Spend time learning about the schools you are applying to. Read about the student culture, the work being done by professors, the course offering, networking and social events, extra-curricular opportunities, academic competitions, scholarships, exchange programs, and anything else that interests you. This research will inform your essay in subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) ways.

2. Answer the Prompt

An off-point essay immediately raises questions about an applicant’s ability to understand and follow directions. Make sure that your essays clearly address any questions asked.

3. Tell a Story

Many of the most engaging and insightful personal statements tell a story. A good story creates a bond between the reader and the author, and helps give the essay a sense of rhythm and purpose.

4. Be Specific

Use specific examples, avoid generalities. The admissions officers reading your essay most likely have thousands of essays to get through. Generic examples are a sure-fire way to lose their interest.

5. Edit

Arguably the most important step! Review your essay carefully and then have it edited by someone you trust. Nothing conveys professionalism like a clean, polished, and error-free essay.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

What are the chances of getting into the Ohio State University?

It is VERY difficult to gain undergraduate admission these days to the Columbus campus of Ohio State. A selective admissions policy was adopted several years ago, and what was once a football party school for undergrads has become one of the nation’s most academically respected institutions. This is why some people have been rejected in recent years even though generations of family members had attended with no trouble. There IS a very good way around this, however! If you are told you cannot enter the university at its Columbus campus, you can complete your first year at one of the satellite (regional) campuses. If you complete your freshman year with a 2.0 GPA, you can automatically continue on the Columbus campus. This doesn’t even require transferring. The regional campuses offer the identical courses as those in Columbus—but with professors teaching them rather than graduate student assistants. And you will play 1/3 less in tuition. Some students enjoy the personal attention they receive at regionals so much that they end up completing bachelor’s degrees on them without switching to Columbus—although they still go to football games!

Chances to get accepted by Ohio State University?

I'm a junior in college. One thing you learn once you are in college is that admissions are never as hard as you think. I had similar credentials as you and I got into every place I applied (often with scholarship). I'm very sad now that I didn't apply to more selective places. I underestimated myself and thought that I never had a chance at bigger more prestigious schools.

My advice to you is this: Apply everywhere and anywhere you want. Apply to Ohio State. Apply to Harvard. Do not worry about the admission statistics, or whether people on yahoo answers think you have a good or bad chance to get in. After you send in your application, call the dean of admissions. Tell him/her who you are and how you're very excited to go to Ohio State. Apply for every scholarship.

If you happen to get waitlisted, send them a letter reaffirming your commitment and desire to go to Ohio State.

Go after it with all you got and you will not be disappointed.

College Questions - Getting into Ohio State University.?

Did you apply for Fall 2010 admission? If so, and you have not heard back by now you can pretty much guarantee you were not accepted. May 1st was the deadline for students to confirm they were going to be attending OSU in the Fall (meaning acceptance letters have all been sent out prior to that date). Also, only 30% of the students accepted to OSU this year were able to start at the main Columbus campus, all the others have to spend a year at the satellite campuses (such as Mansfield).

OSU is also the best public in the state (and one of the best in the country, better than most privates). The average student (meaning not the best but not the worst) has a 3.5 GPA and at least a 27 on the ACT and most have taken AP or honors courses. With a 3.0 you were probably never in the running to get accepted to OSU sorry to say.

Go to another college for a year and then try to transfer to OSU. In my own opinion, however, i never think it is worth going to an out-of-state public school. You have to pay three times as much for an education that is on par w the best public in your own state. OSU also does not give out much financial aid to anyone, much less out-of-state students.
