Change In Average Price

Is $270 a good price to change brake pads?

It sounds about right for a shop, but it pains me to actually tell you it’s a good deal.Since there is no vehicle data given, I’ll use my 1993 Mazda as an example. If I was a shop, I’d charge $100/hr labor with a 1 hr minimum for most jobs, all shop fees included. Since I’m replacing both front and rear, I’d charge the one-hour minimum for each ‘job’ because I’m a dick - I mean “because that’s corporate’s policy, sorry.” Doesn’t matter that I have the experience and tools to actually complete the whole task in under 20 minutes. So there’s $200 in labor. For parts, I can buy factory pads for probably under $25 per set, then add my shop markup percentage which is basically whatever I want. $50 part costs + $20 markup gets us right to the $270 you were quoted. Some mom & pop shops might be less, some shops might be more, but $200 to $300 is pretty close. Now I’ll compare that to doing the work myself, not as a shop. Let’s say for this example I own absolutely no tools and have zero experience. My local go-to auto parts store has OEM pads for that vehicle for $13.95 per set, totaling $27.90. Since it’s an older car I’ll also pick up a can of penetrating spray for $3.49 to make removing rusty bolts easier.I need a basic set of metric wrenches and a C-clamp, which cost about $30 at Lowes or Home Depot. I’ll assume my car didn’t come with any sort of jack or lug wrench, so I buy a jack, two jack stands, and a lug nut wrench for another $70.With a little help from youtube, I get the front right done in about an hour. It took a little figuring out, but now I’m better at it. The front left takes me only 20 minutes. By now I know what I’m doing, and the rears take just 10 minutes each.Total cost was $135 and an afternoon of my time. On top of that, now I possess the tools and the know-how for next time. I’ll be able to do it on my own in under an hour for just the cost of the pads. I’ll pay $27 instead of $270, there’s no waiting list, I won’t be without a car for 2+ days, and no need to coordinate rides to and from the shop. I can also replace my friends’ brakes in exchange for pizza and beer!TLDR; learn to do basic maintenance yourself, it’s WELL worth it!

Rate of change of average cost.....!?

C(b) can be rewritten per 1000 balls as follows

C(b) = (0.8)b^3 - 33.18b^2 + 588.64b + 1344.06) / b dollars per 1000 balls

C'(b) = 2.4b^2 - 66.36b + 588.64 / b dollars per 1000 balls.

At b = 0, C(0) = 588.64

At b = 1000, (C(1000)) = 800,000,000 - 3,318,000,000 + 58,864,000 + 134.406

= -2,459,001,594

So (C(1000) - C(0)) / 1000 = (2,459,001,005.36 / 1000) =

(2,459.001.00536) <--------- Average rate of change

Note that the derivative is the instantaneous rate of change, not the average rate of change.

What is the average change rate of the Bitcoin?

What your looking at is the volatility of the bitcoin price. The first thing you need to do is find a benchmark. There are a number of different price benchmarks out there bet you can use ours (The CryptoCompare BTC USD price index) for sake of argument as it does two clever things - firstly it creates an average price based on the VWAP of the last 24 hours of trading across different exchanges and also has a time weighted decay depending on when the last trade on an exchange occurred. Also we dont include some exchanges in our data as they have widely varying prices due to the nature of the market they have put in place. Local Bitcoins is an example of this.So now you have your index you can look at the average price change that occurs per day.If you want to pull data you can use our Bitcoin price APICryptocurrency data API for over 40 exchanges and 600 coins(BTC,ETH,XMR + 600 other cryptos)The problem that now occurs is which time period you look at the price over! So if you look at it over 30 days when the price was going up you’ll get a different average to when the price went down over the last 60 days. This is what leads to your volatility measure too which comes down to probability distributions which can be bell curved and symmetric with equal probabilities of up and down moves - or asymmetric where there is a lower or higher probability of a +ve or -ve change. You can also get something called leptokurtic distributions and fat or thinner tailed distributions - this is where black swans come in - or basically people underestimate the frequency at which large swings occur (Trump!).These distributions will change depending on the nature of the market going on - so you will need to have a good understanding of the what is actually going on on the ground! The average will vary depending on the mood of the market and the volatility and probability distribution will vary with the its emotions too!

How do changes in average and marginal product affect the cost of production?

Average product and average costs have an inverse relationship. If the average product increases, it means that the inputs consumed per unit of output declines. Thus, the pices of the input/s rremaining constant, the average cost declines. Similarly, if the everage product falls, the averge costs will increase. The average product curve is generally inverted U-shaped and therefore the average costs are generally U-shaped.
Similar is the relationship between marginal product and and marginal costs.
If both the average and marginal productivities rise, the costs of production in terms of average and marginal would come down. But so long as the marginal productivity is positive, the total cost of production will continue to increase with increase in output.

What is the average cost to get your brakes changed?

Around $300 - $400 depending on where you go (dealer will likely charge close to $400).

Not sure if you are handy or not but changing brakes is ridiculously easy. Parts will cost you about $30 for brakes (per axle) and $60 per rotor but it depends on the type of car you have and if you have drum brakes in the rear or not. Mechanics will probably charge you $50 on the side per axle to do them for you so ask around and save yourself some cash!

I just did mine and it cost me $140 for parts and about an hour of my time (front brakes only w/premium brake pads).

What is the average cost of an oil change, and how does it compare to the cost of changing your own oil?

I can do oil changes in my garage for around $25-30 dollars. Right now I'm doing full synthetic changes for $30 or $35. Taking that to a shop is going to cost $60 at my dealership for conventional, >$100 for synthetic. That's for a Nissan Versa. I should note that I can do it for that cheap because I keep my eyes open for deals on oil at Canadian tire and Walmart and then grab a few 5L jugs when the price is right.Your mileage will vary depending on the type of oil and how much your vehicle requires. Most oil change shops advertised prices usually include 5L in their price, but may exclude environmental levies.

What is the average cost to replace your car engine?

I've replaced numerous engines in everything from an inexpensive Chevy Chevette to a Grand Prix V8 in a BMW X5 AWD and a V12 in a McLaren F1, and everything in between. Engine replacement costs can vary wildly depending on application, the donor engine and who does the work. For most Japanese cars, there are frequently used Japanese engines available with low mileage. These are imported from Japan and are recovered from their aggressive auto recycling program. If you have a late-model Japanese car, this is usually the most economic and reasonable way to go, and most can be done for around $2000 out the door. For European luxury cars, the prices usually exceed the cost of the vehicle, so scrapping the car is unfortunately the best option, from a financial point of view. For most American cars, it's best to locate a good, low-mileage engine at a wrecking yard and have an independent mechanic do the installation. If your local wrecker doesn't have your specific engine, they can search using a parts "hotline." There are also engine rebuilders out there in larger metropolitan areas who can rebuild your existing engine from start to finish. You just leave the car and pick it up a few days later. However check these vendors carefully with the BBB and Yelp! to make sure they have a good reputation. Also, the additional service level may cost you more than you'd expect. I also recommend taking pictures of your car before you leave it with them to make sure it's returned to you in undamaged condition.

Average cost to paint a car ? Changing the color..?

depends on the quality of paint job you want. You can get one as cheap as $500. It will not last long and they will not do any prep work other than wash it and tape it off. It will look fine from a few feet away. If it is a beater car that you will not have long, this is a good option.

If you want it done right and to look good, count on spending between 3k and 5k.
