Changing My Septum Piercing

When can i change my septum piercing?

You should wait about a month to change your septum ring. If you change it too soon, it might get infected and it'll take longer to heal. Remember, clean it three times a day with sea salt.

When can I change my septum piercing?

Changing it on your own is really a gamble, only because you might not be able to get it back in because it's so new and probably a little swollen. I've had friends that changed studs and rings only days later because they hated the jewelry and some did it just fine, some met such resistance that they had to take it out and get it repierced, so it really depends on the individual, how swollen the area is, how thick the skin/cartilage is, etc.
I wouldn't advise it but if you are REALLY desperate and you do try to attempt it, make sure you wipe down the new jewelry with rubbing alcohol, either wear gloves or wash your hands like crazy with antibacterial soap, and soak the area in sea salt and warm water for about five minutes afterwards to calm it down. Be prepared though, because it's going to hurt like hell and most likely be really hard to push back through. When I got my nose done they said to wait three or four months to change the stud, septum is in the same time frame, 3 months minimum.

Your best bet and the only option I would really suggest is to call the studio you got pierced at and explain the situation and ask them if they'd be willing to switch it out to a smaller one. They may say yes, no problem, or absolutely not, it really depends on the shop, but it's definitely worth a try. Congratulations on your piercing though and I hope it all works out!

Should I change my septum piercing after 4 days?

Wow. Okay. Well you're getting my "bullshit" lecture anyways. You never pierce it on your own. I know I sound like a broken record because so many piercers say it, but if you watch videos on youtube about the side effects of home piercings, piercings that don't heal or reject, or anything like that, it's horrible. You should always get it done professionally. Secondly, you should know about the guidelines before you pierce anything. You never change the piercing within a week of getting it, let alone a month. The maximum time to wait for a septum is 8 weeks. Clean it with sea salt and warm water which should help the healing process speed up.

Is My Septum Piercing Good To Be Changed?

You aren't suppose to use plastic retainers in the first few weeks of any piercing.
-I would suggest waiting another week to change it, regardless if you haven't had any pain, etc.
It's safe to wait at the least a month, but if you are in such a hurry, yeah another week would be safe.
Before you put a new barbell in, soak it in rubbing alcohol first for 5 minutes.
Then soak it again in warm Sea Salt water.
-That helps it to be clean, even if you buy any body jewelry brand new, doesn't mean it's clean.
Do not take out your retainer and wait more then 2 minutes to put in the new barbell.
As soon as you take the retainer out, put the new barbell in right away. :)

*Congratulations On the New piercing!*

*Hanna, no extra H lol.
-It depends on your body.
When I was 16, I got my first lip piercing done and I wanted to change it out. I had it in 2 and a half weeks and when I took out my CBR to put in a stud, I kid you not, I had it out for 5 minutes and when I went to put the stud through, It wouldn't go in. The next day I couldn't even see a hole anymore.
It made me super mad.

How long should I wait to change my septum piercing?

The reason you should wait 6-8 weeks is because changing the jewelry can easily tear the freshly healing flesh which will be super painful and can cause an infection. I had my septum pierced 3 years ago by a "professiional" whom actually pierced it too low and crooked as hell. I changed the jewelry too soon and it got infected. :( I just re pierced it myself in the correct spot and very straight and now I m waiting the whole 8 weeks to change my jewelry. If anyone has any questions about any kind of piercings check out Pangea piercings on youtube. You can learn anything from how piercings are done correctly, how to care for them, and also about the dos and donts in body jewelry.

How long until i can change my septum piercing?

I think you should be fine.
I changed mine though after about 5 weeks, and stretched it immediately from what it was pierced at.
again, I think youre going to be fine.
if youre nervous about messing up, have a friend do it for you, or go to your piercer.

Unless it has healed fully, or you would like to take it out for good, then no. If it's because you want it to heal up, or you just want to check it or change the jewellery (which you shouldn't be doing at such an early stage!), please see the person who pierced you. In any of these instances, it's always best to see your piercer as they will be able to remove or change the jewellery much more comfortably than you can. If you want to take it out to clean it, please don't! You shouldn't be messing with a new piercing aside from GENTLY cleaning it with warm, not hot, saline solution twice daily. Messing with a new piercing can cause infection and piercing bumps. If it starts to dry up around the piercing hole and get white 'crusties' (bits of dead skin and dried excreted liquid) building up, don't worry. It'll soften over time and flake off, leaving a lovely healed piercing! Don't ever try and move the piercing in and out of the hole while these bits of skin are holding it in place. You'll only tear the skin and start the healing again, and this can cause bleeding and, again, infection. No matter what, please see your piercer and always be careful!
