Character Question About The Lonesome Dove

What does one say at a wedding speech for 2 fictional characters?

When creating characters for a fictional story, there are five different steps of characterization to consider - appearance, actions, thoughts, speech, and interactions. Read more on at http://www.wedding-speeches.me

In the tv series "Lonesome Dove" what happens to the Lori (Diane Lane character) does she married DB Sweeny?

It depends on whom you ask. Larry McMurtry (the original author) had Lorena marry...Pea Eye! In his novel, and the TV-movie "The Streets Of Laredo" Capt. Call asks Pea Eye to help him track Joey Garza, an infamous serial killer, but Pea decides to stay home with Lorena and their three kids!

In the TV movie "Return to Lonesome Dove," Clara says that Lorena has gone off to San Fransisco, but they never mention with whom.

Who all dies in the movie "Lonesome Dove"?

Blue Duck was captured and going to be hung, but grabbed a deputy and jumped out of a 4 story window killing both on impact

July Johnson's wife?, Steve Buscemi/Luke and the big Buffalo Hunter were killed by Indians

when Woodrow goes back to Lonesome Dove a reporter tells him that Xavier Wanz, the bartender burned himself up in the saloon because he was heartbroken (over Lorena leaving)

btw Gus died because he wouldn't let the doctor take off his other leg, when he woke up the Dr had only removed one. He said he would have "shot him dead" if he had taken them both.

you should read the book too, it's excellent

Pea was led back to safety by Deets ghost?

SPOILER:

Although author Larry McMurtry claims that they have no basis in historical fact, it seems likely that the characters of Augustus McCrae and Woodrow Call are modeled after cattlemen Oliver Loving and Charles Goodnight, respectively. Upon the death of their scout, an escaped slave named Bose Ikard, Goodnight carved a sign for his grave, just as Call does for Joshua Deets. Loving died of blood poisoning from Indian arrows, just like McCrae. Upon his death, Goodnight carried his body back to Texas for burial, just as Call does for Augustus. Indeed, Goodnight is actually featured as a character in a small scene in the original novel.

What Lonesome Dove movie comes before the "Outlaw Years" series?

I have watched Lonesome Dove and Return to Lonesome Dove. Now I am watching Lonesome Dove "The Outlaw Years" but I'm missing a lot of what is going on. Which series comes before the Outlaw Years?

Larry Mcmurtry, Lonesome dove series fans,?

''Blue Duck uses Lorie as collateral in a poker game, tricking his men into betting with her and losing her, so that he can get them to kill McCrae for him. Gus meets up with July Johnson, an Arkansas sheriff tracking Jake Spoon, and rescues Lorie. Gus manages to kill many of Blue Duck's men, and rescue Lorena, but Blue Duck himself gets away.
He does not appear again until close to the end. Woodrow Call is bringing Gus's body back to Texas to be buried, and passes through a town (Santa Rosa, NM) where Blue Duck has finally been captured, tried, and sentenced to hang. Before he can be hanged, though, Blue Duck attacks his captors and falls through a top-story jail window, killing himself and his guard when they hit the ground.''

Songs that relate to the book Lonesome Dove and why?

I just finished this book last week! While I cant help much with related songs outside the scope of the book (and I have not read the other books in the series yet), here are the scenes where songs appear or could be used for a movie, TV show etc. Besides the specific songs mentioned in quotes, the references are general. You will need to find actual song titles form the time period/genre if you want.
I hope this is helpful.

1) "My Bonny Lies Over the Ocean" Lippy, the piano player at the Dry Bean Saloon Plays it over and over. pg.40

2) Church Hymns circa 1874 or earlier. The church has to borrow the saloons piano and it gets rollead accross boards every Sunday morning. Lorena, the Whore, sits half naked on the back stairs of the saloon and listens to them. pg. 23

3) Irish Ballads Circa 1874 or earlier. The two Irish boys that join the cattle drive sing to the cattle every night in fine baritone voices, voices that are so sad they make the cowboys almost cry.pg.220

4) Childrens lullaby from early 1800's Newt remembers his mother, Maggie the whore used to sing to him when he was young.

5) Mexican folk song or Vaquero song circa 1860. For the cross border raid from Lonesome Dove into
Pedro Flores' Mexican Ranch.

6) "Mary McCrae" The Irsih boys are singing this song in Pedro Flores' compound. Gus recognizes it because Lippy also plays this song in the saloon. pg.119

7) Riverboat songs from early to mid nineteenth century. Gus flashes back to remembering life working on a riverboat.

8) Dora's Piano Music. In Miles City, Gus hears Dora the Whore playing a piano across the street. The Doctor says she studied music in Philadelphia.

Is it wrong to be upset over the death of a fictional character?

If it is, then I have been wrong for most of my life. I care about the characters in the books, movies and television shows that I love.Good fiction is rooted in human experience. We feel compassion for those who remind us of someone we know, including ourselves. We may not even realize why a certain character moves us to tears, but it shows that we are capable of human emotion. For many, identifying with a character is cathartic, meaning that we release psychological conflicts through our reactions to fictional characters. It helps us reorganize our mental world and brings relief to past experiences we may not have understood.Death is final, and fiction often forces us to face unpleasant realities that we try to avoid in everyday life. When we see a character like Robb Stark die after he is deceived by his bannerman and brought into a trap, we see that we too can be fooled by those who call us friend to our face, but talk trash about us behind our backs. When Ned Stark is executed on the whim of a tyrannical boy king, we realize that life is transitory as we never expected Ned to die, nor did he in that moment. We watch him struggle to prepare himself while his daughter, Sansa, tries to save him, and his youngest daughter, Arya, is just as helpless. It tells us that no one really knows what will happen in the next five minutes of their lives. They only think they know.I’ve gone to sleep crying over the death of my favorite characters. I read books and cry. My husband can now tell when I have watched The Handmaiden’s Tale as I start barking complaints to him, and he has to remind me we are not living in Gilead. So if it is wrong to find the death of a character upsetting, then pardon the cliche, but I don’t want to be right. I like knowing that I still have the capacity to care about human experience on every level.

What makes "Lonesome Dove" such a compelling book?

"Lonesome Dove" is just a great big, wandering and engrossing story that ambles across the Old West. It's got action, romance, cowboys, ladies... It's not just a cowboy novel, though, it's got a lot of depth in the characters and the human drama is more important than the cattle drive.
