Cheap Art Shop/supplies From Australia To Similar Ones In London

Best place to buy basic dorm things in London?

So I'm a US girl who is going to an arts college on the south east side of London. To avoid shipping hassles, and the fact that I'd rather not buy things like an alarm clock and lamp here, to then ship them with expensive fees and then pay more to get adapters for each item, I'm just going to skip the trouble and buy them over there since I'll arrive a few days early.

But I know just about nothing about UK stores and where to shop and get things, I've looked up a few things but I cant find equivalents of my go to stores over there, and I'm a little bit lost on which places will give me good quality but not break my bank.

So to you UK knowledgeable, wheres a good place to buy:
Sheets
Pillows
Desk lamps
Alarm clocks
Mini fridge
Cook wear (I'm told it's a shared kitchen but each student brings their own pots and pans)

and other dorm needed things. I much appreciate the help : )

Why did the Australian government lie about the Bombing of Darwin in WWII?

Governments do lie in wartime. That was so that people did not realise that the Japs could really reach Australia and do serious damage and also so as not to let the enemy know how badly they had hurt you. Australia was like every other democratic country at the outbreak of war, they were ill prepared. They had to re-issue old Martini single shot cadet target rifles dating from 1910 to local defence people because there were not enough rifles for everybody. In the same way in England Birmingham was the main supply centre for the weapons used by the Brits, and it was bombed more heavily than any other town but London. The raids were not reported in the press then, and most people outside Brum still don't know how badly we were hit even today. You will look in vain for any mention of the Birmingham raids in any book about ww2.
