Check Light And Oil Gauge Goes Up And Down

The temp gauge in my car goes up when my car is idle,it goes down when i rev it or drive it around.any idea?

This is normal.
When your car is running and not moving, the coolant is circulated through the system, but NO AIR is moving through the radiator to cool it down.
When the car is moving, the air flowing through the radiator cools it down then it is circulated back to the engine (through the lower hose). When you rev the engine, you are increasing the rate that the coolant flows to the radiator, BUT it will not be cooled much due to the lack of airflow. You may notice a slight decrease in temperature, but this will spike since revving the engine generates heat faster than idling it.
If then temperature rises enough, then you should hear the cooling fan come on, this will lower the engine temperature (just like driving around would) but once the temperature has lowered enough, then the fan will shut off and the temp will rise again.
If your cooling fan is not working, or if you notice the temperature enter the red area, then either drive the car to cool it down or pull over and shut the engine off, as damage to the engine and cooling system may result.

Why does my temp gauge on my freightliner jump up and down?

my big truck just started going crazy, the temp rises then falls
from 100 to 175 and the check engine light ,shut down stays on, but does not shut down even when the truck is not started, it jumps in the stagebefore engine start its killing me!!!!!!!!

Check light and oil gauge goes up and down?

So I have a S10 2001 Extreme. every time i'm in idle my oil gauge is around 5-7 psi and as soon I take off my gauge goes up to normal. Another thing is sometimes my check gauge light turns on and when I press on the Gas the truck take off, but it just goes really really slow, if I let go of the Gas it moves a little bit faster and as soon as I press on the Gas again it goes really slow. I'm scared that one day I will do it again when some one is going really fast and hits me. Can someone please help.

What does it mean when my check gauges light comes on and my oil pressure drops to zero when i stop?

STOP and check the oil level in the engine! If the oil level is OK it means the electrical oil pressure
sending unit needs to be replaced or the oil pump should be changed.

Take the car to a Ford Dealer while the check engine light is on. They are the only people who can read your on-board computer and advise you EXACTLY what part needs to be replaced!

Older Fords do not store fault codes in memory. You will be extremely lucky if you can get to the dealer while the check engine light is on so you can get to the bottom of the emissions problem.

Oil pressure gages or warning lights on the dash rarely if ever go bad. The electrical sending unit which sends the oil pressure information TO the gauge is the culprit 99% of the time.

Why does my low oil pressure dash light never come on when low on oil?

The oil light is a low PRESSURE light, not a low LEVEL light. If there is SOME oil in the sump, the pump can take it and pump it around the system - the engine is lubricated and everyone is happy.Of course people need to check their oil lever from time to tim and top it up as and when needed. The oil pressure light is NOT there to remind you it is about time to top-up the oil.Low oil pressure can be caused by several things - extremely low oil is only one of them. Other causes can be a failed (or failing) oil pump, a blocked or damaged oil line, MUCH too thin oil and so on.This light doesn’t always mean you have no oil in the sump - it means there is not enough pressure being generated by the oil pump to ensure the engine is properly lubricated. This is why the light is RED and not AMBER. It is not a “as and when it is convenient, pop more oil in” - it means STOP NOW or you will almost certainly cause catastrophic damage to the engine. If your oil is often very low when you check it, you might have a leak - or at least perhaps need to consider checking the level on a more regular basis. If the low pressure light DOES come on though, please remember it means “Your engine will almost certainly die within 10–30 seconds” and not “Please top up when convenient”.Even if you are in the middle of traffic, if that light comes on, turn off your engine and put your hazards on. If you work on the basis that for each second the engine is still running you are doing around £100 of damage to the engine, it might guide you as to when you want to switch it off. After about 15–25 seconds (if it hasn’t siezed), you need to work on the basis that it is “new engine time.Even if you end up getting a ticket or having your car towed while you go and buy a gallon of oil, it will be cheaper than a new engine plus labour to fit it.

Why is my oil pressure gauge moving up and down so much?

Consider that any rpm have a corresponding engine oil pressure, so with varying rpm the oil pressure varies accordingly.
I assume you have checked the correct oil level (anywhere between the min and max level marks, the closer to the max the better).
Other than that, I'd check the pressure sensor and the instrument itself - eg, a faulty ground may cause lots of reading problems since it is an electrical instrument.

Why does the oil pressure Gauge go up & down when driving or in park?

Please answer the following so I can help you better:

How Many Miles:
Size Engine:
What type of Oil:
How often is it changed and the oil filter:
Do you change it every 3,000 miles:
Is this the first time this has ever happened:
Where is the truck being used (location):

It might have one or more clogged fuel injesctor. That year truck, if it has a 5.7L (it also happened on the 4.3L) had a recall for the fuel injectors and I have done my share fixing them. The oil pressure might not have anything to do with the truck dying. You need to have the code read and figure out what that is. Engines don't run or quit running for three reasons, Fuel, Compression and Spark. IT sounds like a fuel problem. If you can answer the questions it would really help.

Oil gauge goes up when accelerating and down when stopping?

Oil gauges do that. I have an '05 Silverado that does it to. When the RPM's are low, so it the oil pressure. When the RPM's are high, so is the oil pressure.

When you start your car, and the RPM goes down to 0 after 2 minutes, does this mean your engine is warmed up?

At 0 RPM your engine is not running. An Engine at idle runs at approximately 700 to 900 RPM.In two minutes of running a modern engine has reached “closed loop”. Closed loop means it’s out of default mode and is adjusting fuel mixture based on Oxygen sensor input. The engine is still not fully warmed up or at operating temperature but you should start driving it. You do not want to let an engine idle long enough to reach operating temperature. You should start driving it as soon as you start it , unless you need to defrost the windshield.Modern cars will run fine two seconds after you start them .

Why does the oil light comes off when accelerating and goes on when braking in an Opel Corsa 1.4i Gamma hatchback? There is enough oil in the engine.

Other answers (at the time I write this) are declaring “oil pressure at lower engine revs" But you didn't say that! If it does happen only at low revs and with a hot engine, then the others are right. But if you can eliminate the revs effect, and oil temperature effect, then there has to be another reason.First see if the light only comes on with hot engine and is ok when cold. If so, that suggests pressure loss. Check if light only comes on at low revs and is ok at higher revs while you are stopped. If so, that suggests pressure loss. If these are negative, drive at about 60km/hr, and assuming light is out, slip car into neutral so revs drop (you have already proven revs are irrelevant by now) and brake hard. If light comes on there is something else to blame and not pressure related. More likely that the oil pump is starved of oil.I'm sorry I can't offer an explanation, but it is more related to the forces generated by acceleration and braking than pressure or rev related. (Are you certain thete is enough oil in the sump)
