Chemistry Equations To Solve

Can you solve a simple chemistry equation?

MW of KClO4 = 138.5 25g KClO4 =25/138.5 = 0.181 moles Oxygen is formed 2:a million. consequently 0.361 mole O2 formed 22.414 L = a million mole of gas at STP. consequently, 0.361x22.414 = 8.09 L O2

How to solve these chemistry questions?

Hello everyone,

I have these three chemistry questions that are becoming a problem for me to solve. I just do not fully understand how to answer these questions or how to go about answering them. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I just want to know how to go about solving these.

1.) Balance the following chemical equation (enter the coefficients in order, separated by commas: e.g. 1,2,3 or 4,3,2,1.) :

HIO3 → I2O5 + H2O

Now I know how to balance it, pretty sure it is: 2HIO3 → I2O5 + H2O but what do they mean about entering the coefficients in order with numbers?

2.) A sample of an unknown biochemical compound is found to have a percent composition of 54.95 percent carbon, 9.99 percent hydrogen, 10.68 percent nitrogen and the balance oxygen. What is the simplest formula for this compound ? (Enter your answer in the following form : given CwHxNyOz type the answer as wxyz. For example if you find the formula to be C20H24NO2 you would enter 202412. Notice the ``1'' entered for N.)

I am completely unsure how to even approach this one :(

3.) 9.27 gram(s) of iron powder is heated in gaseous chlorine, forming 26.93 grams of an iron chloride. What is the percent composition of chlorine in this sample ? Give an answer accurate to the hundredths.

This one seems easy, but I think I am making it harder than it seems to be. How do I approach this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How do I solve this chemical equation?

Too much oxygen on the left, so you double the other element:

2SO2 + O2 -----> 2SO3
