Christmas Gift For A Twenty Year Old Girl In Mesa

What do people generally wear in San Diego in December with 65/70F?

I belong to North India, a place that becomes extremely cold during the winters. I see myself as someone who can withstand the cold more than others. I wore just one layer of clothing to my college in India, when my friends wore two to three layers. Before moving to San Diego, I had read articles about the weather here, and was under the impression that given that it's always sunny, I will almost never wear anything more than a half-sleeve T-shirt. Man, I was wrong!Even though it's sunny, it can be extremely cold, especially during the rainy days/less sunny hours, and inside your house. That being said, I usually wear at least a light sweat-shirt/sweater on a daily basis. At night, you need a blanket if you are not using room heaters. (I ordered myself a new one from Amazon after moving here, because eh, I never got one from home, thinking I wouldn't need it). Note that you might sweat a little during the day time because of the sun, but trust me, you wouldn't want to get out of your house without a light jacket! (Make it two, plus cap/socks if you feel excessively cold during the winters).

What are the best aspects of living in Mesa, AZ as a young adult?

I can only answer from my own past experiences of back in the 1980s… Going 2 lots of parties with high school friends & my bff sister, the smoking area (now closed) & off-campus lunch/study hall at Dobson High, chillin’ with friends at the river bottom, cruizin' in my sister's Baja Bug with our friends…One day, 11 of us were able to squeeze into Joce's '72 VW bug for a ride to Barrow's Pizza for lunch. We were stopped at a light & when the light turned green, Joce hit the gas petal and the car did a wheelie. We were all laughing & screaming, it felt like we were gonna flip! To this day, 30 years later, people are still recalling memories of that day!… cruizin' Central & blasting people walking with a water/air-filled fire extinguisher, smoking under the bleachers at football games & in the girl's room at school, tubin' down the Salt River with loud tunes & louder friends, kegger pool parties … Ahh livin up the good ol days of my teens!

God I miss the 90s'!!! Does anyone else feel the same?

This era sucks and its really sad. I hate all this technology, I wish we just had tv's like in the 90's. no plasma's or lcd's hd tv's but just regular tv's. I wish we didn't have any mobiles, or computers. Computers are just boring especially in college when everything has to be typed and not written anymore. I prefer writing essays then typing them. God i hate it, i would do anything go relive my life and fix all my mistakes. The 90's had the best cartoons, best movies, best tv shows, best games and the holidays were so amazingly magical especially when expierencing it New York. God i miss christmas when it was real and the christmas movies just made it even better. But now New York city isn't the same as it used to be. The christmas feeling isn't there no more, but in the 90's i enjoyed it and appreciated the gifts i would get. I remember when i got my first pair of rollerblades and i would go outside over the summer and rollerblade all day. I missed the 90's because there was no wars, or terrorism. It was pure happiness for everyone. The music, movies, cartoons, shows, all taught us something about life that what I miss about the 90's.

Do you have any real ghost or horror story to share?

Following is one of the spookiest incident I've ever witnessed and this is not a story.. it's a fact.A very good friend of mine just after his 22nd birthday lost his Mom due to some chronic disease.. Since being the only kid in the house, he was pampered a lot by his parents and especially his mom.. He also crazily loved his mom and his signs of depressions were clearly seen when his mom was hospitalized. After she passed away, their was a sudden change in his behavior, he avoided personal interactions and stammered while talking to us.After a week, he didn't bother meeting us, after around a month's time when we were coming back from a movie, we saw him at his balcony in a weird position.. it was looking like he was climbing the grills at his balcony like how spider man climbs the wall.. and we were quite surprised looking at him. We did wave at him, but he didn't wave back at us.. which confused us even more. The next day 2 other friends from our group also saw him in the exact same position.. and no price for guessing, he became the point of discussion among us. To find out what's happening we decided to meet him the next day, and he spoke as if everything was ok.. but his eyes didn't seem right, the dark circles around his eyes made him look like an owl. We asked his dad about his behavior. His dad at first didn't find anything unusual (maybe bcoz of his work) but post we convincing him, he came up with an idea of keeping an eye on him. He also asked us to be with his son for the weekend and we did oblige to do that. Which turned out to be one of the biggest mistake what I made till date. We saw our friend this time not climbing the grill but his own wardrobe and sat their talking with himself, seemed like he was sharing his childhood incidents.. all this was in his eyes open so we thought there is no case of sleep walk.. We immediately ran up to his dad and got a doctor to look at him..When we got him down and doctor asked him what was he upto.. the answer made us pee our pants..He said he will not climb to the grill or wardrobe if his mom won't meet him at those places to talk to him...Edit 1:Thanks for the upvotes and suggestions. P.S. This is indeed a true incident, nothing made-up

Is the sentence "I didn't knew it" grammatically correct?

A2A.I’m afraid it’s not. What you need to do is change knew to know, and you have your correct sentence as “I didn’t know it”.You see, the past auxiliary/helping verb ‘didn’t’ is already indicative of the past. You don’t need the main verb know to acquire its past form of ‘knew’ as well. This is a common error in the past tense-and understandably so- as users tend to believe that since speaking in the past tense, all the verbs need changing into their respective past forms. However, the process only applies to the auxiliary verbs. In the given sentence, you have your main verb as ‘know’ while ‘didn’t’ serves as the auxiliary or helping verb.Just go by the following ‘golden rule’ and your sentence construction of the negative and interrogative will seldom go wrong:‘Whenever dealing with a sentence in the simple past that includes both: the main verb and the auxiliary verb, it is always the auxiliary verb that changes to suit the tense, while the main verb preserves its infinitive (V1) or first form.’For instance : They didn’t jump. (and not, ‘They didn’t jumped.) Here, main verb - jump; auxiliary verb - jumped. We didn't see. (and not, ‘We didn’t saw’.) Main verb - see; auxiliary verb - didn’t.In both examples, it’s only the auxiliary verb do that acquires the past tense into ‘didn’t’, leaving the main verbs jump and see unchanged as jump and see (V1/infinitive).For further clarity on the behaviour of auxiliary and main verbs, you may find my video of some help :

“A Countess From Hong Kong”. Chaplin directed this film in 1967, starring Sophia Loren & Marlon Brando, and he also had a small role in it (and so did a few of his children)
