How to clean a cup with mold?
I accidentaly left coffee in one of my travel mugs and it turned into mold. I've washed it twice with soap and hot water but I'm worried that its not clean enough... Also everytime I lift it to my mouth area it smells so bad!!! Anything I can do you remove the smell? Ps, I'm not a huge fan of using blech on things that touch my mouth but if that's all that will do it I'll use it this once
Can i get sick drinking from a moldy cup?
Your body usually would tell you pretty quick, you would feel sick. Then you would reject it, otherwise your stomach acid probably took care of it.
Drinking out of mouldy cup?
Yesterday i checked my daughters sippy cup at nursery, the inside spout bit was full of black mould. I am very concerned about this as my 3 year old daughter was rushed to hospital at the end of November with Pneumonia, since then she's had a problem with her eyes - watery eyes, a bit swollen and very red the doctor said allergic conjunctivitis. Almost 4 weeks on she still has a redness around her eyes and it looks very sore. I thought perhaps she had a food allergy but now am not so sure. I have a meeting with the nursery this week and want to take in as much ammunition as possible. Does anyone know if drinking out of a mouldy cup can cause pneumonia?Thanks in advance x

yes you can wash it good then put a little bleach in it to make sure it's super clean, then wash and rinse again! Good as new!

No, it's not. Molds can cause allergic reactions. And where there is mold there may be bacterial contamination too. So don't drink from a moldy cup.
How do i remove mold from a cup?
Bleach is your answer. Bleach not only kills the mould itself, but also any germs that might have collected there during the time that you forgot the cup. Let it stand with the bleach for a few hours before washing it with normal dishwashing liquid and hot water. Problem sorted.
Mold growing on bottom of cup of apple juice?
ADDED COMMENT: Sorry, forgot to answer your main Q----you will be fine, worry not. Someone has offered allot of scary sounding info but you were not exposed to "black mold" (at least not fr the juice cup) which is the kind of mold you hear about that ruins homes & makes entire families sick. Again, you will be fine. Mold would grow easily at he bottom of a cup that had held apple juice since mold feeds on sugar and the apple juice is full of glucose (broken down sugar). Combined w warmth & a bit of moisture, it's the perfect growing medium. Mold spores are all around us, just floating in the air, if they land on a "friendly" environment they begin to feed & reproduce. What's amazing is that most of us don't find more moldy things around our homes. The "smoke" is in no way smoke. It's the spores breaking away from the growing medium. Because your species of mold was black & fuzzy looking to the naked eye---esp if it's been allowed to really build up---you can see them going into the air. It's like what happens if you disturb dust. You could have kept your cup and just washed it w hot soapy water. Good housekeeping and keeping food containers clean will & dry will prevent this problem. I don't really know much about the science of mold but I think I explained the basics of your encounter w it.
How do I clean the black mold from my water bottle?
Get a bucket. Fill it with warm water. Pour a little bleach in the water. Remove the lid of the bottle and submerge the lid and the bottle entirely in the bleach solution. The bottle will be fine, and all of the mold will be removed in a few minutes. Dump out the bucket (careful not to splash it on your clothes!) and rinse the bottle and lid. I use a rubber tipped squeeze bottle every day during fitness workouts and while around the house to stay hydrated. They get moldy inside... nothing you can do about that except clean them every few weeks with the bleach method above. Works perfectly.
