Cleansing Your Home With Sage

Cleansing house with sage?

So, my brothers room mate is smudging his house with sage, and she seems to think that in order to cleanse the house, all of the sage sticks she bought must be burned completely in order for the cleansing to be complete.

Now that seems to be a waste, as far as I was taught and led to believe, when it comes to sage, in order to cleanse the house, you burn it, and put as much love and positive pure energy into the house as you burn the sage, no matter whether you burn the whole thing or not.

She seems to think that sage by itself, will magically do all the cleansing, maybe I'm wrong, I was led to believe it has some cleansing power spiritually, but most of it comes from the user.

So tell me, is it quality or quantity?

How did you cleanse your home with sage?

Smudging is a purification practice that comes from indigenous  American Indian traditions. It involves lighting a stick of dried herbs  (usually sage or cedar) and wafting the smoke around. It’s inexpensive  and anyone can do it. However it is not a space clearing technique, and how it ever came to regarded as one is a complete mystery to me. Why smudging is not a space clearing technique

White Sage cleansing?

Sprinkle a band of sea salt around the outside of your house. Start and do not stop until you are back at where you started, and start at the back door (while we're keeping the devil from entering the front door, he's sneaking in the back door.) At each corner of the house, repeat the phrase (without stopping), "from whence you come, to whence you go and leave this house to harmony as you go in peace."

This is an old Druid remedy passed down by my great-great grandmother, and have seen and heard it verified by many others, including psychic Sylvia Brown. I have found it very helpful, and a ritual I go through every time I have moved into a new abode.

I cleansed my house with sage, now I feel sick?

Hi I'm 16, the "friends" we live with, we haven't gotten along with them for some time (its true what they say, you don't know someone 'till you live with em') and we are actually in the process of moving, and so while my parents went shopping, and our "friends" were outside doing yard work (they don't know I cleansed the house with sage), I decided to sage the WHOLE house, windows and doors to get rid of any negative energy and bad spirits, Ive done it multiple times at the past two places (I've only been using sage for about three years) we've lived at, and nothing bad has ever happened to me. But now right after I finished with cleansing the house, I sat down to watch Pretty Little Liars and all of the sudden I got horrible stomach pains, and gas and then I ran to the bathroom and had diarrhea (sorry gross I know) and it burned a lot. I looked down after wards, and saw red stuff, not like blood I don't think. I had just ate some watermelon a half hour before, so I don't think it was that. Is it possibly it was some of the lining of my intestines, it didn't look like it was chewed up watermelon, and I haven't had anything red for the past week. Could it have been the spirits, and the negative energy possibly attacking me somehow because I was trying to get them out of the house? I believe in the spirit world (ghosts and all). My stomach is settling down now as I type this, but I still feel a little sick. I didn't know if this should go into the Health category or not, sorry. And thank you ahead of time for any answers, I really appreciate it. :)

Will burning sage to cleanse my home open up a door to the occult?

Whenever you assign a power of protection to an inanimate object, you put that thing into the realm of the occult which in turn opens the door to demon spirits even if you call that thing "holy."

It is said that sage is supposed to protect against negative magick used against a person. To smudge means to burn an herb -- usually in a ceramic dish or seashell set in a base of sand -- and fan the smoke with a feather to fill the room you're in. Then, the person repeats the same procedure with every room of the house. After smudging the whole house, the windows are opened to allow the smoke and negative energy to flow out.

Priests who do that, with the smoke from burning incense or sandalwood, don`t realize this is a practice from the occult , or that it brings spirits into the lives of those who are being smudged.

Well, incense, sage and other herbs burned for smudging have no power to purify anything or protect us from evil. Any kind of smudging invites demons whether it is performed in the church, in the home, in a sweat lodge, or as part of a spiritistic ritual.

Do you have any proof that burning sage is really cleansing?

My first question would be: cleansing what? Is it meant to cleanse bacteria? Viruses? Spirits? the mind of the person doing it? I think the idea is so vague as to be meaningless, honestly.

How to properly use white sage to cleanse your home of negative energy?

I have read several articles about the proper use of white sage for cleansing rituals, but many of them are conflicting.

Some say to open all windows, doors, cabinets, etc, while others say that windows and doors must be closed. Some say to move around the house, and each room, clockwise while others say that the direction doesn't matter.

What is the best method in using white sage to cleanse your home of negative energy? Any other tips on space cleansing or related articles, books, etc. would be helpful!

Thanks so much!
