Clear Studs Cause Infection

What is the best way to heal an infected nose piercing?

You can use natural aloe vera gel after you do your daily clean of the piercing.Or (I swear by this solution)… an ibuprofen and some sea salt, and make it into some powder, then add a little bit of water to make into a paste. Wash your ear as you would do normally, clean it as best as you can with a cotton bud, then put enough paste to cover the area infected. Leave this for a few hours, or all night whilst sleeping. Do this for a few days and hopefully it should start to heal. You can also use preparation H ( it is an anal cream but really does help piercings). Clean your piercing as normal then dry it. Then put some on your piercing using a cotton bud.If these things don't work, go back to your piercer, they may advise you to go to your doctors. But always see your piercer FIRST as they can try and save the piercing, if not they'll say to take it out. If you go to your doctor before the piercer, 9 times out of 10 they will tell you to take it out.

Nose piercing question?

I had my nose pierced in April for about 3 weeks, but I had to take it out for work, lost the stud, and my piercing closed. I found out that I can wear one of the clear nose studs to work, so I wanted to get it re-pierced. However, I only have about one week before I ll have to change it to the clear stud. I talked to a piercer that said that changing my stud before 6-8 weeks was at my discretion, but I was wondering if anyone else has changed theirs sooner than that and if it s a bad idea.

PLEASE HELP!!! Possibly infected nose piercing swollen & stud won't go back in?

You shouldn't have changed it at all before the 6 month mark - that's the minimum time for piercings to heal (with the exception of ear lobes). A piercing is a stab wound, essentially, that now has to heal around a foreign object. Of course it's going to need a lot of time and care. Every time you change it, it messes with the healing process.

Take some ibuprofen or naproxen to help with the swelling. A cool compress can help as well. Once you've gotten the swelling down, assess the piercing. Is it warm to the touch? Any odd colored liquids coming out of it? Minor irritation and blood alone are normal signs of irritation.

If it is infected, go to a doctor ASAP before the infection has a chance to be trapped.

If not, with the swelling down, it may be easier to slide the ring in. Obviously, make sure our hands are clean before dealing with it to prevent infection.

How do I treat an ear infection from cheap earrings?

hi there first of all you cant wear these kinds of earings, i am the same way and i can only wear gold, or silver, platinum. That is it. Now for getting rid of the infections, buy some hydrogen peroxide, and put this on your ears 4 times a day with a saturated cotton ball. After that pat dry, and buy some polysporin(an antibiotic ointment,) then put it on your ear on both sides do this at least 3 times a day. It will probably take about 3 days, and it will almost be gone. BUT DON;T WEAR ANYMORE CHEAP EARINGS OR IT WON;T GO AWAY!! seriously you can;t wear those king at all , if you do, only for and hour or two but only after your ear is completley healed but you are better off saving your money and buy some silver earings or gold, and this will NEVER happen again

Is getting nose stud better than getting a nose ring?

They usually start you out with a long stud, because your nose will swell.  They will then cut it down for you after about a week.  The stud is the piercing standard for the nose because it allows for swelling, and does not fall out as easily as a ring.  Messing with a new piercing by putting jewellery back in can invite infection. At your piercer, you may not have a choice.  Beyond that healing period, however, I'm a big proponent of rings.  For me, the curved or bent end of nose studs that sit inside the nostril are annoying.  They always poke out of my nose, and I constantly have to readjust, making me look like I'm picking my nose at the stoplight.  A ring hangs mostly outside the nose, with only the end hugging the nostril.  That makes them easier to fall out; a concern for new piercings.  But they're easy to put back in, and so once you're healed and continually prodding the piercing isn't a worry, it's not a big deal.  I always wear a ring.  It actually rarely falls out.  Usually, I can feel that it's moved and I tug it back into place.  Rings also collect less snot! So, to recap: the stud is the recommended and best choice for the piercing and healing period.  But past that, give rings a try!

Can your ears get infected from sterling silver earrings?

Should I just search for new earrings where the stick part of the earring is slimmer? Or keep these on so my ear holes can widen?...I don't want to end up with big, droopy holes though because I sometimes wear heavier earrings. OR should I coat those stick part of the earrings with clear nail polish (it really does work in keeping your ears infection-free...this woman I know has done it for several years).

Sorry, this is an annoying question. Ignore it if you want haha
