Coffee And Chocolate Headaches And Now Hives . Help

Why does chocolate make me sweat?

Both the theobromine and caffeine found in chocolate can cause diaphoresis in certain people. The theobromine tends to alter both heart rate and blood pressure and the caffeine stimulates the central nervous system and acts as a dilator of peripheral blood vessels. Many people will feel "flushed" after eating a little "too much" chocolate and some, like you, may experience the added effect of diaphoresis.Still, if this sweating is more than "a little" perspiration or it lasts for an extended period of time, you should see a physician to see if other factors may be at play here or to learn if there is an underlying condition that needs treatment--as has been pointed out in other answers in this thread.

Why would hot chocolate always give me a stomach ache?

Hi there,

You may not be allergic to anything, but maybe you have developed a food intolerance.

I used to drink instant hot chocolate all the time during the winter. Then one winter after I developed food intolerances and allgergies everytime I drank instant mixes I would get an upset stomach, headache, bloat and bad indigestion. I wondered why because the mixes are made out of milk ingredients and cocoa...wrong! The first ingredient was sugar followed by "modified soy ingredients". Cocoa and milk ingredients were further down the list.

I have an allergy to raw soy and even large amounts cooked gives me stomach problems. It's overuse in everything is making people sensitive to it.

Your best bet would be to get a regular hot chocolate mix like Ghirardelli or Nesquick. Mixes that require you to use warmed milk because they're mostly cocoa (regular crushed chcocolate). Try those and see how you feel after. They sometimes use soy protein as an emulsifier, not as a main ingredient so they won't bother a person with moderate soy intolerance.

Plus they're healthier as you're using straight up milk and not relying on ingredients in the mix for creaminess.

Am I allergic to white chocolate?

Ya.I agree with you. This is probably due to the brand.I thought i am sensitive to coffee before when i consumed "XXXXXXX"branded instant coffee..i felt nausea, and for the whole week,i felt dizzy and paranoia..For many times,i had this kind of discomfort whenever i consumed this instant coffee..
Thus,i assumed i am allergic to coffee. But after that there is one time when i touched coffee again,it did not cause me any sickness.(as my mom boiled it with the real coffee beans)..I tried many times just to prove that i am not sensitive to coffee.Yeah,i am right.I guess the problem had probably arised from the ingredient the producer is using to make the coffee powder, such as some preservatives.Maybe i am sensitive to those chemical. My advise is :Do not take white chocolate of that brand again.I believe that chemicals that cause discomfort is not good to your body..

If the sides of my face are tingling after eating something very spicy is it dangerous?

In my youth I would recklessly divulge in spicy foods- I had a friend who would import ghost peppers and let me use them, and another friend from Malaysia who would invite us over for curry (which was very spicy). While visiting my friend on one of those curry nights she and her husband (an American) told us about when she moved to the United States and started eating our cuisine. After about a week she realized that her lips no longer tingled and commented that she thought the tingling feeling was just part of eating. I had never really thought about it, but began realizing that my spicy foods had a similar effect on my face. As I grew older my careless consumption of spice caught up with me, and now any time I eat food that is even remotely spicy I get hiccups until about half an hour after I finish eating. I still enjoy it, but only when I am willing to deal with the hiccups. The tingling can be a normal reaction to spicy food, but you should be mindful if you begin exhibiting signs of an allergic reaction. If you have difficulty breathing, break out in hives, or begins swelling you may have a dangerous sensitivity to one or more of the ingredients in the dish.

Can coffee cause indigestion?

You can experience indigestion when you drink coffee or from an underlying medical condition. Coffee increases stomach acid production, which could lead to indigestion as a normal side effect, or indigestion can occur as a result of gastroesophageal reflux disease, also called GERD. Your symptoms should not last more than a few hours. If your symptoms continue for more than a day or they continue to get worse, call your doctor. Coffee contains caffeine, a naturally occurring stimulant drug that could cause negative side effects when consumed in excess or ingested with certain medications.Because coffee contains a lot of caffeine, you may develop indigestion as a normal side effect. Caffeine affects your central nervous system and, as an ingredient in coffee, tea and chocolate, it increases stomach acid production. If you drink too much caffeine you can develop heartburn, stomach pain, diarrhea, belching, lightheadedness, nausea, vomiting, irritability and sleeplessness. Cut your daily coffee consumption in half to see if that helps reduce your symptoms. People with a greater sensitivity to the acid and caffeine content of coffee may need to avoid the beverage.

Overuse of asthma inhaler, sideaffect?

It sounds like a defective inhaler, which is a very serious problem and should be reported to the manufacturer. If you're having serious symptoms from overdose, obviously by now I hope you've sought medical attention.

Now, on the question of Epinephrine. This is an outdated drug that has been replaced by Albuterol. For some reason, Epinephrine is allowed to remain over-the-counter while Albuterol (which actually works much better and has far fewer side effects) is by prescription only. The consequences of overdosing on Epinephrine is much greater, because it has a far stronger effect on the heart. In fact, Epinephrine works like adrenalin. Albuterol can have a mild effect on the heart, but your doctor would probably tell you that it's pretty harmless for most people.

The answer is, your side effects will go away from that unusual dose. But you should go see a doctor for an adjustment to your treatment. Now, Albuterol will probably cost more (especially since it became a CFC free spray for environmental reasons). However, cost should not be the reason you use Bronchial Mist, because all manufacturers of Albuterol offer discounts to people who need it, and the final price will be lower than that Walgreens stuff you've been taking.

All the best to you!

Natural relief of allergies?

The best remedies for hay fever andallergies can be found in alternative medicine; namely homeopathy.

I have personally treated and cured multiple patients suffering from different forms of hay fever and allergies.

Hayfever is part of a deep constitutional condition.
It is normally related to the sycotic miasm and the most success I have had is with Nat Sulph 6X - 3 tablets to be take 6 hourly preferably empty-stomached or 30-45 minutes before or after meals.

The above remedy is more relevant to tree pollen allergy. The other head remedies I have personally found to be most efficacious are as below:

1. Lachesis 1 M (1000) - first to be taken for 3 days; single dose - 3/4 drops in 1/4th glass of water preferably empty-stomached or 30-45 minutes before or after meals.

Then one dose after 15 days thereafter for the duration of the hay fever season.

2. Sabadilla 30 - to be taken in case you get a bout of sneezing.

Other effective remedies are there also but are aspecific to your symptoms. Feel free to write ..

Best of luck!
