Colouring My Hair In The Salone

Does chlorine affect the color of hair after dying it brown?

Chlorine can affect the color of your salon colored hair. Chlorine is a bleaching agent that can cause high lighted hair to turn a greenish color.Chlorine would NOT change your brown colored hair turn green, but it could and would dull the color, dry out, and loose it's gleam. To protect your hair, wear a swim cap when you go swimming. Get the hair wet with shower water, apply the conditioner, do not rinse. Twist the hair like a bun or such and then put on the swim cap. If you don't get a swim cap, wet your hair in the shower before entering the pool so your hair does not absorb so much of the chlorine, apply conditioner, and rub it throughout your hair. The conditioner will coat the hair to help resist the chlorine while you swim. When you have finished swimming, use a chlorine removing shampoo once a week. Two major brands of "swimmers" shampoo is Malibu C and Paul Mitchell Shampoo 3. All of this should give you the most protection.

How much will it cost to dye my hair brown at a salon?

It really depends on which salon you are going to!A high end salon or a family type walk in based salon. The later would be the cheaper choice. The good thing about getting just one deeper all over color is you dont necessarily have to search for the perfect stylist or high end salon because an all over color should be generally easy for any stylist to perform whether they started work that day or have done hair for years. If you dont have to do any corrective coloring and it is just a single process color, I'd think for permanent it would be around 65$ on average. If you decide to go for semi or semi hair color… something like REDKENS SHADES EQ or PAUL MITCHELLS PM SHINES it's usually cheaper around 30$.The semi or semi is also a lot more gentle on your hair with little or no damage, adds a lot of shine…but does fade quicker. If you use gentle color safe shampoos and dry shampoo in between and protect your hair with leave in conditioners and serums while styling you can get more for your money. Both services usually will include shampoo condition (obviously) and styling or atleast a blowdry!

How much do beauty salons charge to dye hair?

It really depends on your area, the skills of the colorist, and the salon. In my area you can get hair dyed for anywhere from $20($20 TuesDye!- a place I AVOID) to $400. It is one of the areas in hair care and salon services where you usually get what you pay for. If you are looking for a specific color or style of dying, ask for a consult with the colorist of your choice first. Bring a picture of what you want, do not be afraid to ask questions. Just because they have a license does not mean they are familiar or trained to do the dying you want. And if they aren't familiar with a brand of dye or a style of dying you want, and are willing to do it, be careful, you could be paying for them to "learn" on your hair.

How much does dying hair cost for guys usually?

Every salon and shop has a different pay scale for colour. You will need to consider length of hair, what colour you want to change to and if is its a double process like bleaching, then a colour, proper conditioning will help you. Yes, men pay less than women do, depending where you go. I don't believe in price gauging anyone. Product is product. You can go to a barber shop, they are cost friendly. You can also do your own hair if it's a single, first time process, it's easy. For under $10, you can colour your hair. You can choose the salon you are thinking about going to, then look them up online or go in and ask for a consultation. For colour and chemical treatments, a free consultation is the best way to see what you are wanting, costs, time to do and upkeep.Salon cost more than double it does to do at home, because we are working with professional product and we are educated to help give you, the client…our best work.Make sure you get your ends trimmed. Colouring dries out the ends.

HELP! My hair is 3 different colors!?

First you need to deep condition your hair, going lighter really damages the hair. You also have to give it at least a week to rest so you don't get major damage. Because you're hair is such an array of colors the best way is to get it professionally corrected. Otherwise get a bleaching kit, you'll have to bleach out all of the color in your hair to get it all one solid color. Once you're on a clean canvas select the color you want to dye it. Keep in mind it will be a shade or two lighter than what is on the box. I hope I helped. :-)

Why is it so expensive to dye your hair at a salon?

There are several reasons why. The number one reason: you are paying for a professionally done service, by someone trained to do a specific job. Just like you pay an accountant more to do your taxes, you pay a professional colorist/stylist to dye your hair. Stylists/colorists are trained in different mixing, blending, application and design aspect of hair dying (if they are good). You are also paying for their time, the space, and the equipment used. Then there is the quality of the dye. Salon quality dyes are very different from drug store box dyes, no matter the advertising. This is true for normal or rainbow colors. The pigments, duration they last, and how they affect the hair are different from cheap drugstore dyes. Pravana beats the crap out of Manic Panic in how long it lasts and the variety of colors possible. The condition and color of your hair play a role. If the hair is severely damaged, unhealthy, resistant to dye, or needs to be lightened to dye the color you want, that is more time, more product and more training/skills you are paying for. Or if your hair has been colored with cheap box dyes, they have to compensate and alter what they do to not have a bad reaction between the 2 dyes and to make sure you get what you pay for. The length and thickness of your hair. The longer or thicker it is, the more product will be used, and the more you need a person who can see and make sure it is applied correctly all over. The professional should make sure you have no holes or spots or patches in your dye job, something even having a friend help you with often happens. Then it will also depend on the type of dye job you are asking for and how many colors, high lights, low lights, etc. you are wanting, all of those can take more time and skill. One other variable can be the type of salon and the training the stylist has received, a more high end salon will charge more than a mall salon on average, but a high end salon actually gets really good quality training for their staff. Mall salons on the other hand will charge a wide range of prices, but most of the stylists I have encountered in the mall had minimal training to get their license, not much else. Also, remember most salon dying services include a wash, style, trim/cut and blow dry in the cost.

I want get my hair dyed blue, how much will that cost?

Lara I Lord is completely correct.Any hairstylist worth their salt won’t tell you how much it’ll cost before seeing your hair and discussing exactly what you want. They might give you a range, but even that can drastically change once they see what they’re working with. There are so many factors when it comes to dying hair, especially when it comes to fashion colors.Hair length, texture, and density can drastically change price. Someone with hair down to their waist isn’t going to pay the same price as someone with a pixie cut, and someone with super thick hair isn’t going to pay the same as someone with much finer, thinner hair, simply because there’s more hair to deal with, which means more product and more time. Hair color is also a factor, both the natural color and whether or not it’s been dyed (and what color it’s been dyed). Of course the darker the hair, the more likely it is that you’ll need to lighten the hair more than once to get it light enough to take the fashion color properly, and that likelihood goes up if it’s dyed a dark color instead of naturally a dark color. Whether you’ve used box dye or got it done professionally can also make a difference, as darker box dyes often won’t lift out of hair nearly as easily as professional color. That means more product, multiple lightening sessions, and more time. Even the shade of blue can change the price, since sometimes darker blues can be put over a darker blonde and still take well, while brighter and/or lighter blues need to have very light blonde, almost platinum, to take properly without tinting green. You really do get what you pay for. Lara was absolutely right that you should call around and ask for someone who is specifically trained or who specializes in fashion colors. Make sure you ask for a consultation before setting up the appointment so you can talk to the stylist and make sure that y’all are on the same page, and go over pricing. As long as you are reasonable and have a reasonable budget, or are willing to compromise, a good stylist should be able to work with you to help you get what you want, or at least get you as close as possible. Or they should tell you up front that it isn’t possible, either at all or within that budget. Typically, salons will offer complimentary consultations, so there’s nothing to lose!Good luck!

Should I wash my hair before a haircut?

In your hair stylists opinion the answer to this is going to be an overwhelming no.In order to get a good cut and deliver the look you want, the stylist is going to want to wet your hair. Even that little spritz negates any washing you would have done before hand.Save your shampoo (and your time) and head in with unwashed locks. Give yourself a little pampering and have your hair washed, and scalp massaged, by your stylist. Letting them wash your hair will not only give you a nice wash, but will give your stylist the perfect canvas to play with .Additionally, if your stylist starts cutting your hair dry I would perhaps look for a new stylist. Cutting dry could give you a very uneven look.
