In my point of view, Louis CK is making fun of TV shows that are way too easy to laugh at. Like " big bang theory" " how i met your mother" which are equally funny, but are just usual stuff. Louie on other hand is dark comedy. You are laughing but also feel bad about louie's lonely life. It is hard to get a laugh. Because you need to understand the joke.The joke is on us when his wife is black because we have been thinking that oviously his wife is white. But as so it happens she is black. Which again is equally possible because genetics is possible. What is the best comedy series of all time and why?
I will go with FRIENDS all day. I know that it doesn't have the technicality of the Big Bang Theory or the fan following of How I met your Mother but it is in my opinion the greatest sitcom of all time. Why? It is hard to point out a reason to a person who hasn't seen Friends but let me try. In all 236 Episodes, all the main characters were present. No one was killed off in the middle because of a failed negotiation, no one missed an episode due to personal reason and the actors enjoyed performing for us. No single actor wanted to take the lead role and throughout the 10 seasons, no one became prominent over the other. They negotiated salaries together, they wanted to appear of posters and cover pictures together. They lived on and off screen as Friends. That is why the series was so effective. After the finale was shot, they were visible emotional, in tears. On-screen, it was one of the most well written series you will ever find. They didn't keep prolonging the storyline to increase the number of episodes, they didn't play around with idiotic narratives. It was spontaneous, it was witty and it was funny, unconditionally. Chandler Bing is probably the greatest TV character ever lived. Ross - Rachel love dilemma is probably the mother of all on-and-off love relationships in TV, Joey Tribbiani can womanize and make us laugh at the same time, Phoeby Buffay is the most neurotic TV character you'll ever see and Monica, is well, Monica!
