Common Beer And Testosterone Levels

Why Were My Testosterone Levels So Low In A Blood Test?

First off, about me - I am 20, 5'10" 165Lbs, not fat at all but not scrawny either.

I went to the doctor to get blood work done to test (among other things) my testosterone levels. I was surprised when the doctor called me back and told me that my testosterone levels were on the low side of the spectrum, at 265ng/ml with an average ranging from 270ng/ml to 1080ng/ml. This is very surprising to me for multiple reasons -

-I have a very high sex drive, in fact, my girlfriend seems to think that it is almost too high sometimes.
-I was able to put on about 25lbs of muscle over the course of a year (some fat too, but not excessively by any means)
-I am not considered wimpy or feminine by anyone, although I am also not the sort of stereotypical "overly-masculine" kind of guy
-In general, I do not seem to host any of the common characteristics of low testosterone.

I feel like there may have been some reasons that my test scores came back so low.

-On the day of the exam I was dead tired, I had gotten hardly any sleep (about 6 hours), to add to that. I had also slept poorly for the entirety of the vacation I had been on for the previous week before my blood work.
-While on vacation I ate snack foods multiple times a day, and never worked out. For about 3 weeks before my exam I was eating more poorly than normal, and not exercising at the frequency I normally used to.
-I was very irritable on the day of my exam, the doctor took over an hour to get to me. I felt like my blood was about to boil by the time I saw him.

These 3 factors, lack of sleep, malnutrition, and stress, are the 3 main killers of testosterone. But are they enough of a killer to actually lower my testosterone levels by such a dramatic amount? Also, I had not masturbated for the duration of the trip, and only did once I was back.

I was also informed that I have low levels of HDL cholesterol.

I plan on doing the anabolic diet to fix my cholesterol and testosterone levels, although I feel like they may be a bit skewed.

Does taking salt peter before a testosterone test lower levels?

The chemical compound potassium nitrate is a naturally occurring mineral source of nitrogen. It is a nitrate with chemical formula KNO3.

Its common names include saltpetre (from Medieval Latin sal petrae: "stone salt" or possibly "Salt of Petra"), American English salt peter, Nitrate of potash and nitre. The name salt peter is also applied to sodium nitrate. It is currently used as the main ingredient in tree stump remover, available in the gardening section of most hardware stores.

The official word is that potassium nitrate (KNO3), more commonly employed as an ingredient in gunpowder, has no therapeutic value as an anaphrodisiac, contrary to legend.
Still, when you look at what the stuff does do, you can see where the idea got started. Saltpeter can cause relaxation of involuntary muscle fiber (for which reason it's used to treat asthma) and it's occasionally prescribed to lower body temperature in cases of fever. From there it's not much of a leap to think that "niter," as it was called in the old days, might cure "sexual fever," and in fact a few doctors urged it for that purpose centuries ago.

From what I can tell the idea wasn't taken too seriously, but apparently sailors in the British navy leapt to conclusions when they learned that potassium nitrate was being used to preserve the meat used aboard their ships. Ever since the inmates of almost any large all-male institution, ranging from boarding schools to the army, have been convinced that the higher-ups were slipping the stuff into the mashed potatoes (or whatever) to cool the jets of the rank and file. During the world wars, for example, it was widely believed that government-issue cigarettes were soaked in saltpeter.

The truth is that even the most tyrannical general wouldn't inflict the stuff on his men if he expected them to be of any use--too many side effects. Among other things potassium nitrate can cause gastroenteritis (violent stomachache), high blood pressure, anemia, kidney disease, and general weakness and torpor. It also has an alarmingly depressive effect on the heart. Too strong a dose and not only would you not be able to get it up, chances are you wouldn't be able to get up, period. All in all, there's still no substitute for the cold shower.

in other words no. doesn't do a thing... Hope you are not abusing steroids and need a quick fix to get levels down before a test... that opens up a whole new can of worms...

Does soy protein increase estrogen, or lower testosterone in males?

soy contains phytoestrogens so what it does is increase the amount of estrogen in the body. guys have estrogen in them and testosterone but if there is an imbalance, some guys develop symptoms such as gynocomastia (man boobs) it is recommended to get your protein from whey and avoid too much soy. not every guy gets an imbalance but it can happen so best to limit.

Do White men have more amount of Estrogen in them compared to men of other ethnicities?

Many years ago I read 2 types of resources, that claimed the opposite. In one of them they compared Soviet Whites (ethnic Russians, Balts etc) & Soviet non-Whites (central Asians, kavkazians etc), and in another one - African Americans & White Americans.
Both stated, that oestrogen levels were higher in non-Whites, whilst testosterone level was about the same in African & White Americans, and lower in Asians and middle easterners.

Moreover, you can see the opposite based on behavior of European/White men, their attitude towards women etc + their body constitution. Because, despite common beliefs, excessive estrogen in men is linked to violence towards women and misogyny => which are not typical of European men.... who tend to have wide shoulders JSYK.

And one last thing. Higher oestrogen levels are typical of cultures, that have lots of products with tons of phytoestrogens & xenoestrogens in their national cuisines. Soy, beans and other legumes, figs and dates (and all those eastern sweets), excessive sugar boosts estrogen, too... etc etc etc...
European men eat lots of meat and fish, eggs and milk, cabbage etc, that are known for keeping healthy hormone levels.

So, again, no. Unless they (W.men) consumes lots of alien foods and gallons of beer.

How can I reduce high testosterone? I am a female. Is it curable with homeopathy treatment?

Men and women both have testosterone in their bodies, albeit in different amounts. Women produce small amounts of testosterone in the adrenal glands and ovaries. Along with estrogen, testosterone helps maintain the bone mass as well as the female reproductive tissues. These hormones also directly affect the behavior. If you have high testosterone, it is almost certainly due to a medical condition, especially if your weight is under control. It is best to get screened for common contributing conditions like PCOS, hirsutism, and congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) - which is a group of disorders affecting the adrenal glands. You can then seek appropriate treatment.Coming to everyday methods to lower testosterone, weight could be a contributing factor. Generally, if you're carrying extra weight, it can contribute to a lower expression of female hormones. Estrogen, for example, is a fat-soluble hormone that may be trapped by fat cells.Homeopathic medicines like Pulsatilla, Oleum Jac, and Sepia are female-specific remedies that are prescribed in cases of hormonal disturbances. A consultation with a homeopath can help you identify the cause and follow a course of treatment.

Do plastic bottles effect a man's health and testosterone levels?

The little-known fact is that plastic has detrimental effect on men’s health. How so?Plastic products include chemicals that have estrogenic activity. These chemicals either mimic or antagonize the actions of naturally occurring estrogens. Estrogen is a female sex hormone that is the main contributor to female characteristics and, being a man, you should do everything in your power to avoid a boost in estrogen. The most feared chemical in plastic containers is BPA, and rightly so, as it has a tendency to seep into food and beverages. BPA is toxic and has been linked to health risks on brain, behaviour and prostate glands in fetuses, infants and children.  The body of evidence has been convincing enough that the US, Canada and the European Union have banned BPA from baby bottles. BPA is also linked to high blood pressure and even at very low doses BPA is found to stimulate cancer migration. You may have come across some manufacturers claiming that their product is bisphenol A (BPA) free and among other things leave an impression that their products do not have estrogenic activity. Unfortunately, this is not the case.Although it’s great if your plastic is BPA free, research shows that in some cases BPA free plastic releases chemicals that have more estrogenic activity than ‘regular’ plastic that contains BPA. Also, a common BPA replacement in manufacturing process is bisphenol S (BPS) that is at least as harmful, if not more harmful than BPA. BPS has been linked to altered organ weights, reproductive end points, and enzyme expression.

Does beer decrease a man's sperm count?

Hi Capricassy,

Having a low sperm count can be devastating to your husband and also a lot of stress into your marriage life. There are many different factors which could be responsible for a low sperm count and there are also things that can be tried to increase sperm count.

The most common of which are smoking, stress, genetics, poor nutrition, prescription or illegal drugs, obesity and infections. But, there are others. For instance:

Plastics: Certain chemicals found in consumer products are associated with impaired sperm production. 1. Phthalates are nearly ubiquitous in household products, such as food packaging, shower curtains, coatings on medicines, shampoos and many others. 2. Bis-phenol A is already banned in some countries (but not in the U.S.). It's a chemical found in polycarbonate plastics, the type used in the hard plastic water containers. These can be hard to avoid but some manufacturers are beginning to label their chemical-free products. To the extent, your husband should avoid eating, storing and microwaving foods and beverages in plastics.

Hot Showers or Baths: Anything that raises the temperature of the testicles is likely to impair sperm production so regular use of hot tubs and hot baths -- generally water over 100 degrees F -- can have an effect. Regular use of saunas and steam rooms could have a similar effect.

Wearing tight underwear: There is no actual data showing this to be true, but since anything that raises the temperature of the testicles can potentially impair sperm production, tight jockey shorts could theoretically do that. Not worth getting crazy about, but if you're trying to have kids, boxers might be a better bet.

There are also bicycle seats, cellphone, and laptop. Details about them on source articles, and also, how to increase sperm count with foods.
